Red Rice

We’re not sure where the term ‘ricer’ came from in America, but today it’s defined as ‘Race Inspired Cosmetic Enhancements’, which means it seems to have transcended any xenophobic origins and can be used to describe any car modified in a ‘ricey’ way.

What we do know is that three favourites recipients of the term, at least according to the internet, are the Toyota Supra (specifically the Mk4 variant), the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo, and the Honda Civic, each of which has been recreated brilliantly in lightly-riced form by TLCB regular SP_LINEUP.

Each includes opening doors and hood, plus a detailed interior and engine bay, and some can be bought from SP in kit form too. Click the link above to visit SP’s photostream to see more of each build and the rest of his extensive back-catalogue.

Im not 100% sure either but he term “ricer” car has more to do with the actual “rice” which is largely grown in Japan. Thus the Japanese cars are sometimes called “ricer” cars regarding the country of origin. I bet through that it has nothing to do with the work racism šŸ˜‰

A quick google research helped a lot:

    “Race Inspired Cosmetic Enhancements
A ricer stands for Race Inspired Cosmetic Enhancements. … First it started to be called on Japanese cars, but now all cars can be considered ricer car, when they are full of bad cosmetic mods. This ricer cars usually low power cars that are costumized in terms of cosmetic, they mount big wings and loud exhausts.”

As much as i like TheLegoCarBlog i would suggest to make that slight edit in the post cause some may get mad fr assuming that the name have something to do with racism ^^

Also following the description i guess that the EVO and SUPRA doesnt really fit that description (:

    Cheers!
