It’s a sunny day here at TLCB Towers and the Elves are off hunting for the best Lego vehicles that the web has to offer. All except one, who we found dangling alone from the grab of a hefty remote control excavator left abandoned in the corridor. We may have laughed. A lot.

Said creation is based on an ET-25 excavator, and comes from deltamc of Eurobricks who has recreated both its visuals and operation beautifully. Constructed from around 2,000 pieces, delta’s model can drive, steer, slew, and position the two-stage boom (equipped with either a bucket or grab) via remote control, thanks to a suite of six Power Functions motors and four linear actuators.

It’s an impressive piece of Technic engineering, and one you can watch in action via the video below and create for yourself, as delta has made free building instructions available. Find out more at the Eurobricks forum via the link above.

Grab Some Wood

This giant claw with a vehicle attached to it is a Volvo L180HL, a front-loader-based machine designed for moving logs. Lots of them.

This brilliant Technic recreation of the log-grabbing Volvo is the work of Akassin of Eurobricks, who built it for a recent Technic competition in which it took the silver medal.

A wealth of mechanical and pneumatic functions accurately replicate the real machine, with articulated steering, an enormous (and rather clever) two-piece boom powered by compressed air, plus a mechanical claw that’s able to grab bundles of ‘logs’.

Lego Technic John Deere 648L Skidder

It’s a tough life being a The Lego Car Blog Elf. You spend all day dodging dogs and seagulls in the hope of finding a Lego creation worth blogging so that you’ll get fed, and then whilst you’re asleep in the cage room one of your colleagues drives in a remote control tractor with a giant mechanical claw on the back, picks you up and dunks you in the toilet.

Still, they bring it upon themselves. The vehicle responsible is this rather impressive fully remote controlled Technic John Deere 648L by Brickshelf’s pipasseyoyo, complete with twin L motor drive, articulated steering via two mini linear actuators, a remotely raising/lowering front mounted blade, raising, rotating and opening claw, and an inline-6 piston engine.

Lego Liebherr LH60 Timber

Splosh. [Elven screaming]. Splosh… Hmm… that doesn’t sound good. One weary walk down the corridor here at TLCB Towers later and the source of the disturbance was found. It’s been a while since an Elf brought back a remote control find to wreak havoc, but today old habits were resumed and havoc was indeed being wreaked.

This culprit was at the controls of this, gkurkowski of Brickshelf’s enormous fully functioning Leinherr LH60 timber grab. Despite featuring a beautifully engineered remote control all-wheel drive and steering system, the Liebherr was much too slow to run down and squash any Elves. Luckily for the pilot however, gkurkowski’s LH60 model also includes a remotely controlled rotating superstructure, two-peice pneumatic boom extension and a working grab, and it’s these features it choose to deploy.

Held aloft by its ears, an Elf was being repeatedly dunked in a toilet, in a manner similar to that used by public school bullies. Funny as this may have been, the Elves are not allowed in the TLCB Executive Washroom and Sauna so we had to put a stop to it. The very glum-looking victim is now sitting atop a radiator to dry out, whilst the victor has escaped with a yellow Smartie, and we’re left to have a go with the Liebherr ourselves.

Lego Technic Excavator Grabber

Well we’ve found our favourite creation of the week so far… This excellent-looking Technic tracked excavator comes from previous bloggee Horcik Designs, and it’s a thoroughly wonderful machine. Wonderful because it has no less than three pneumatic cylinders providing movement to its arm and grab. Wonderful because those cylinders are fed air by a Power Functions driven electric pump. And mostly wonderful because it can pick up a TLCB Elf by the ears and dunk it in a bowl of soapy water, all without us ever having to touch it. Thanks Horcik! Crawler Grabber

Lego Technic RC Tracked Grab

This weird-looking device is apparently a Crawler-Grabber, and we suppose it is, seeing as it both crawls and grabs. It’s the work of TLCB favourite Nico71, and it can lift a TLCB Elf surprisingly high into the air before dropping it into the toilet. Don’t worry, we didn’t press the flush.

Controlled remotely via LEGO’s Power Functions system, Nico’s creation is able to drive, skid steer, and elevate and extend the boom. It looks a bit like one of those RC bomb disposal robots and as such we may well put it to use removing Elf droppings from the Cage Room.
