Lego Mustang Mech

The vintage fighter plane theme continues here at TLCB with this… er, we have no idea. Mixing a mech with a P-51 Mustang, Flickr’s Kobalt has created something that every single Elf here at TLCB Towers thinks is the coolest creation they’ve ever seen. Head to Kobalt’s photostream to see more of his ‘Mustang Blondi’, whilst we dust off a classic Transformers cartoon VHS.

Lego P51 Mustang

The Lego Car Blog becomes The Lego Plane Blog momentarily as we feature a Mustang without a Ford badge; an ace P-51D Mustang fighter by MOCpages’ Henrik Jensen. The P-51 was built for the Allies as high altitude fighter by North American Aviation and – once fitted with Rolls Royce’s Merlin engine – it became a formidable machine throughout the Second World War. Henrik’s mini-figure scale version is based upon a surviving P-51D now in private hands that saw service with the US Air Force, Swedish Air Force, and finally the Dominican Republic Airforce all the way until the 1980s. You can read more about the plane and see more images of Henrik’s model on MOCpages here.

P-51 Mustang

Lego P-51 MustangThis glorious North American P-51 Mustang was discovered by one of our Elves today on Flickr. The work of mrutek, A TLCB veteran, it’s a model that clearly shows the advantages of LEGO’s newer smooth curved pieces, which allow the Mustang’s famous fuselage and wing shape to be re-formed from our favourite plastic blocks without losing their stunning fluidity. Check out all the photos of this beautiful Second World War fighter on Flickr here.
