Picking Cherries

Here at The Lego Car Blog we cherry-pick the best Lego vehicles from all around the world-wide-web. Well, the places our Elves frequent at any rate. Cue today’s creation, which is cherry-picked cherry picker, if you will, as built by NoEXIST of Eurobricks. Based on an Iveco Eurocargo, the model features a working piston engine, functioning outriggers, ‘HOG’ steering, and a rotating and raising cherry-picking hoist. Building instructions are available and you can pick your very own cherries via the link above, where an equally good Mercedes-Benz Atego truck by the same builder can also be found. Cherries come in pairs after all.

The excellent Technic Iveco Eurocargo off-road truck was discovered by one of Elves today, and it comes from previous bloggee Thirdwigg aka Wigboldy.

Eqiupped with both a three-way tipper and a knuckleboom crane, Thirdwigg’s creation is packed with mechanical features, including a piston engine and high/low gearbox, pendular suspension, steering, a two section extending and slewing boom, a tilting cab, and working outriggers.

All are hand operated via an assortment of hidden knobs and gears, making the model a fantastic homage to the way Technic used to be.

We like workhorsey-type vehicles here at The Lego Car Blog. This is perhaps because, whilst we frequently blog Ferraris and Lamborghinis, we’re rather far removed from those in the real world; this writer’s current vehicle is an office chair held together by duct tape.

Cue mpj’s excellent little Iveco Eurocargo tipper truck, which is about as unpretentious a Technic model as it’s possible to get. No motors, no bluetooth remote control, no V12 engine. Just mechanical steering, a tipping load bed operated by hand-turning an axle, and dropping sides so the load can tip out. Marvellous.

Lego Iveco Fire Truck

Things quickly escalated from today’s earlier post, and – after a few Elves had been rounded up – we may have attempted to jump a Power Functions powered LEGO off-road vehicle over some them.

By ‘we may have’ we actually mean ‘ we definitely did’, and by ‘a few’ we should probably say ‘a few too many’.

Luckily, although the model in question landed quite violently onto several of our too-trusting workers, this neat Town-scale Iveco Fire & Rescue Truck with rear mounted crane by Flickr’s Smigol was on hand to scoop up those squashed.

Don’t worry, it didn’t really – it is only Lego after all. We used a spatular.
