Smoothly Rolling

One of this  author’s childhood heroes was the recently deceased John Noakes. Whether he was free-fall parachuting or climbing Nelson’s Column with no safety gear, John was the daredevil hero of the BBC’s Blue Peter. What has this to do with MiniGray!‘s smoothly built road roller?  When making flapjack (yes, he cooked too!), John Noakes famously commented that road menders should use a wooden spoon instead of a roller to get a smoother result. Given the state of the rural roads around TLCB towers, he might have been right.  MiniGray!’s model features a detailed, removable engine, so it’s well worth clicking the link in the text to see more. Swanning Around

Whilst most of the sci-fi Lego world has been focused on building massive SHIPs for SHIPtember or trying to come to terms with the perpetually enigmatic Ma.Ktober, Tim Henderson has taken his own path with the “Swan“. Tim says that it’s the biggest spacecraft that he’s built but it stills looks a nice size to take for a swoooosh. Added to this are plenty of opening hatches and play features. The ship looks to be a great toy, as well as being good to look at. As its origins are in the Corellian shipyards of Star Wars, that will keep another cohort of spacers happy too. What’s not to like? In the meantime, at the other end of the size scale, is “Lord Cockswain’s Endangerer”. Worth blogging for the name alone, it’s a nice example of economic micro-scale building. Grantmasters is the builder and here’s the link to his Photostream.

Man With a Van

Whilst many of our sci-fi oriented Elves are busy giggling at this year’s Febrovery creations, some of them are still scouring the rest of the internet. One Elf has just been rewarded with a shiny red Smartie for bringing back this pick-up truck. It’s the latest in Don Wilson’s series of flying vehicles, that has also included racing cars, speeders and a scrap metal lorry. Click this link to see more of Don’s models on Flickr.
