Blessed be the Fruit

We’re beginning the week here at The Lego Car Blog with a whole lot of apples. This is p.vanderloo’s fabulous ‘Holland Fruit’ diorama; a stunningly detailed (and photographed) homage to the apple industry, complete with two absolutely beautiful classic DAF trucks.

The larger of the two – a 1960’s DAF 1800 DS300 – has appeared here before, and is now joined by an equally lovely DAF D50 curtain-sided flatbed, as well as a Nissan forklift.

All three models are spectacularly detailed, with their jaw-dropping realism enhanced by superb period-correct decals, and you can see much more of each at p.vanderloo’s ‘Holland Fruit’ album on Flickr. Take a look via the link.

Large, round, red, and pulled by truckers. No, it’s not your Mom on vacation, but this stupendous tanker truck by Flickr’s Arian Janssens. Six axles, superb detailing, and much steering are all at play, and there’s more to see of Arian’s DAF FTG XF 480 to see via the link.

Mind Your Manners

This superbly-liveried rhubarb-and-custard DAF XG was discovered by one of our Elves on Flickr, and comes from regular bloggee Ralph Savelsberg (aka Mad Physicist), who has recreated one of the real trucks used British agricultural haulage firm ‘Manners’. Only mini-figure scale, Ralph’s DAF packs in detail that belies its small size, which is further enhanced by some lovely replica decals. Hook & Draw

It’s truck time here at The Lego Car Blog. Because we didn’t find any cars. But what a truck it is. Constructed by serial bloggee Arian Janssens, this DAF FAS XG+ 530 is outfitted with a hook-lift and drawbar trailer, meaning it can take two huge loads at once. Superb attention to detail is evident throughout the truck, trailer, and the massive black containers being transported by both, and there’s much more to see of the component parts and the complete rig at Arian’s ‘DAF FAS XG+ 530’ album on Flickr.

Here at The Lego Car Blog we recently added the whole A to Z of Lego Trucks to the site. Well, D to Z, as we started with DAF. Anyway, here’s another entry into the DAF archive, thanks to prolific DAF-builder Arian Janssens and his superb 1980s DAF FAS 3600 ATI. The Lego Car Blog Elves love a big red truck, and they don’t come much bigger, redder, and truckier than this one. It’s a DAF FAW XF 450 hook-lift container truck, as built (and presented) beautifully by TLCB regular Arian Janessens. Working steered axles and a functional hook-lift feature, and there’s more to see on Flickr via the link above.

Multiple Loads

Big trucks. Small trucks. Box trucks. Semi-Trucks. Long Nose. Cab-Over. Countless brick-built trucks have appeared here over the years, but often we forget why trucks exist in the first place. To pull stuff.

Cue Arian Janssens, who remembers the most important part of a truck is the thing it’s pulling.

Arian’s superb curtain-sided three-axle trailer complete with rear-mounted forklift, container trailer with shipping container, and container trailer with tank, each of which is built and presented beautifully (as is the DAF FT XD 450 Sleeper Cab pulling them).

I’m Lovin’ It

Created in 2003 by a German marketing agency to revitalise a stagnant McDonald’s, the Justin Timberlake voiced “I’m Lovin’ It”* campaign has been the brand’s tagline for over two decades. As have animal welfare violations, immediate-landfill plastic toys, and french fries with nineteen ingredients.

Cue previous bloggee Arian Janessens‘ excellent McDonald’s-liveried DAF FAR 85.360 truck and drawbar trailer, which would no doubt be loaded with the meat from miserable chickens, pointless plastic toys, and nineteen different fries ingredients if it were real.

Superb brickwork, top-notch presentation, and opening doors and ramps all feature, and you can place your order for Type 2 diabetes and heart disease via the link above.

*You may be able to tell but we are not, in fact, lovin’ it.

Beer Container

This is a DAF FTG XF 530 Sleeper Cab, and it’s been built – rather beautifully – by previous bloggee Arian Janssens of Flickr. It’s also not alone, being hitched to an enormous three-axle container trailer complete with a giant tank of… we have no idea. Beer perhaps? We can but hope.

Daffy Truck

This ginormous green machine is a DAF XG, the brand’s 2021 replacement for the XF truck that is ubiquitous across Western Europe, and here at TLCB too.

Constructed by MCD in 1:21 scale from around 1,300 pieces, this brilliantly-built replica of the XG – shown here pulling a tipper trailer designed by fellow builder Niklas Kaemer – features working steering, opening doors, and a whole lotta lime.

Sweet Truck

This delightful DAF FAS 2600 truck was found by one of our Elves today, and it comes complete with an equally satisfying drawbar trailer. The work of serial-bloggee Arian Janssens, this beautifully detailed classic combo was used to transport sugar beet, and there’s more to see of his confectionary carrying creation on Flickr. Cometh the Harvest

It’s been a relatively quiet week here at TLCB Towers, but we can end it with three thoroughly excellent models in one. This fabulous ‘Van der Vlist’ liveried DAF XF-105 truck, Gebruder Recker gooseneck trailer, and Claas Tucano 320 combine harvester are all the work of TLCB Master MOCer Ralph Savelsberg, who has captured each in astonishing detail.

More amazingly, each model is only mini-figure(ish) scale, yet packs in as much realism as models several times the size. Just the Tip

Whilst we like trucks here at The Lego Car Blog, we don’t really know much about them. The engine denominations of British family cars from the ’60s, sure. Trucks… not so much.

Cue our surprise then, when one of our Elves found this magnificent DAF FT 2600 truck complete with an enormous tanker trailer, and we discovered it tips. We didn’t even know tankers could do that.

This is a DAF 95.500 Super Space Cab truck, complete with a trailer full of tasty… er, we mean delicious… um, flaverous… no – let’s just say ‘wholesome’ – animals. See, vegans are welcome here too!

A Whole Lotta Grass

Surprisingly lucrative, easy to grow, and in demand just about everywhere, grass is bigger business than you might think.

Cue Arian Janssens, whose dope DAF 95.360 Space Cab hook-lift and drawbar trailer are designed solely to transport the stuff.

Both the truck and trailer can tip their respective containers independently, and share them with the world’s weirdest lawnmower for filling during the cutting process.
