Just the Tip

Whilst we like trucks here at The Lego Car Blog, we don’t really know much about them. The engine denominations of British family cars from the ’60s, sure. Trucks… not so much.

Cue our surprise then, when one of our Elves found this magnificent DAF FT 2600 truck complete with an enormous tanker trailer, and we discovered it tips. We didn’t even know tankers could do that.

Every day’s a school day, and we have previous bloggee Arian Janssens‘ brilliantly detailed Model Team DAF FT 2600 and tipping bulk trailer to thank for our education.

Both truck and trailer are superbly constructed and photographed, and you can take a look up close via Arian’s photostream. Click the link above for just the tip.

White Space

No, not what your Grandfather calls the country club, but this, a rather humungous DAF FT CF 430 Space Cab truck, and an even more humongous twin-axle box trailer.

Constructed by DAF-building specialist Arian Janssens, the CF 430 Space Cab is one of three equally excellent Model Team recreations of modern DAF trucks published by the builder simultaneously, and there’s more to see of each at his photostream. Click the link above to take a look.

Space Slurry

No, we’re not referring to Star Wars dialogue – we’re a day early for that – rather this giant black tanker truck by previous bloggee Arian Janssens. It’s a DAF FT CF480 Space Cab, pulling a huge three-axle tanker trailer filled with more crap than an Anakin Skywalker monologue. Whoops, we’re a day early. Er, let’s say Trump’s Twitter account. Either way, it’s a whole lot of crap, and there’s more to see of Arian’s enormous slurry tanker on Flickr via the link.

Double DAF

Here’s a DAF being pulled by another DAF, which makes sense as builder Arian Janssens has appeared here numerous times over the years, usually with a DAF. Arian’s DAF NTT 2800 and DAF FT 2500 share the same brown and orange livery (brorange?), there are custom chromed parts, and giant brick-built ‘DAF’ letters. Because DAF. Head to Arian’s photostream via the link above for these and many other DAFs.

Yellow Brick Road

This is a DAF FT CF 480 Space Cab with a 4-axle Floor trailer and mobile crane. A suitably long title for a suitably long vehicle. Designed to carry bricks and stone, which makes us very pleased with this post’s title (and it enables us to post this link!*), it comes from previous bloggee Arian Janssens and there’s more to see on Flickr. Click here to follow the Yellow Brick Road!

*We’re not sorry.

White Box

Now this is a common sight. Or it was – trucks have short lives in TLCB’s home market so it’s a long time since we’ve seen a 1990s one – but a blank white trailer being hauled by a nondescript tractor unit? They’re everywhere. And in the mid ’90s they didn’t come more nondescript than a DAF FT 95.

The Ford Mondeo of trucks, these mid-’90s DAFs didn’t really seem to be styled, they were just sort of motorway furniture, like bridges and road signs, but this Model Team recreation by TLCB regular Arian Janssens is no less brilliant for that.

Superbly well replicated, Arian’s DAF FT 95.500 ‘Super Space Cab’ is so realistic it’s starting to blend into the background already. Take a closer look at his Flickr album via the link above.

Soul Storm Kennels

We have no idea what Soul Storm Kennels is, but their logo looks awesome on the side of a truck trailer! Pulling this magnificent tessellation of bricks is a DAF XF XT Super Space Cab by Lasse Deleuran aka gtahelper. Power Functions motors and an SBrick bluetooth brick give the model remote control drive, and there’s more to see (plus building instructions) via the links above.
