Design an Iconic Ferrari Poster! | Competition

One of LEGO’s greatest strengths is their box art, which often depicts the set inside in a beautiful artistic recreation of a real-world setting (take a look at the boxes above to see what we mean). However LEGO chose to use minimalistic all-black packaging for their new 42125 Technic Ferrari 488 GTE set, eschewing the usual artwork for a classy, more adult-focussed design.

However, that’s not to say 42125 wouldn’t look great in front of a more dynamic background, and that’s where you can help!

LEGO Ideas are running a competition to design a poster for the new 42125 Ferrari 488 GTE AF CORSE set, with some awesome prizes (including a copy of the new set) up for grabs!

Winner’s Prizes

    • 42125 Technic Ferrari
    • 76895 Speed Champions Ferrari
    • 75890 Speed Champions Ferrari
    • 42124 Buggy Control
    • 2 x Prints of your poster (1 signed and one plain)
    • A Ferrari Goodie Bag

The assets required to create your poster are available for download at the LEGO Ideas website, where full competition details and entry requirements can also be found. Upload your poster design by 14th December to enter!

Build-a-Ferrari 488

The worldwide douchebag that is Coronavirus has so far cancelled the first half of the Formula 1 season, the Isle of Man TT, and postponed the Le Mans 24 Hours. But fear not, because you can recreate the world’s greatest race at home thanks to Lasse Delueran and his superb replica of the Ferrari 488 EVO GTE that competed in the 2018 event. Beautifully accurate (and more than a little complicated), Lasse has released building instructions for his model, plus he’s built a host of other Le Mans racers too, so you can build your very own starting grid. Head to Lasse’s photostream via the first link in the text above to see more of the 488 and to find a link to building instructions, and you can check out his other creations via the second.

Le Mans GTE Pro Grid

The 24 Hours of Le Mans 2018 is nearly upon us! The world’s greatest endurance race is now in it’s 86th year, and in 2018 will feature sixty cars in four different classes, from the ultra-hi-tech LMP1 prototypes to the GTE Am class of supercars and gentleman drivers.

Somewhere in the middle sits GTE Pro, in which professional drivers for both works and independent teams will fight it out whilst dodging the ludicrously fast LMP1/2 cars hurtling past. This year six different manufacturers have qualified, and previous bloggee Lasse Deleuran has built all six beautifully in Lego form.

There are three Porsche 911 RSRs (featured here previously), two Ferrari 488 GTE EVOs, a Ford GT, a Chevrolet Corvette C7.R, plus the brand new Aston Martin Vantage AMR and BMW M8 GTE.

Each is a fantastic build utilising some ingenious techniques to capture both the complicated GTE-class aero and to accurately recreate the liveries of the teams. Head over to Flickr via the link above to see more of each build and choose your favourite!

It looks like this year’s Formula 1 World Championship is slipping way from Ferrari yet again. Assuming Hamilton and Mercedes-AMG wrap up another World Championship at the U.S Grand Prix in Texas later today it leaves the team a decade without a title.

So in commiserations here are two of the company’s finest road-going efforts of recent times, showing that even when performance on track is lacking, Ferrari can still produce a road car of epic ability.

First up (above) is the Ferrari 488 GTB, recreated superbly in LEGO’s Speed Champions style by previous bloggee Peter Blackert aka Lego911. Peter has recently become a published author with a new book that details how to build Lego creations like this one. You can see more of the 488 GTB at Peter’s photostream by clicking the link above, and you can read our interview with him as part of our ‘Become a Pro’ series by clicking this awesome link.

Today’s second modern Ferrari (below) comes from Flickr’s RGB900, who has recreated probably the most stupidly named car of recent times. And we include the Mazda Bongo Friendee in that. The Ferrari La Ferrari may have a ridiculous title but it’s quite a car, and RGB’s Speed Champions version captures the Italian hypercar in expert fashion.

You can see more of the build at RGB’s photostream via the link above, whilst we watch Mercedes-AMG stroll to another F1 World Championship. There’s always next year Ferrari…
