Stickers make everything better. Just ask any seven year old. We don’t think Flickr’s LegoGallifrey is a seven year old, but he’s of the same opinion, having bedecked his glorious sky-fi flying hot rod ‘Yellow Empress’ with a variety of power-enhancing decals. Total Recall
We’re feeling lazy today, so it’s time for a Guest Blogger! Firas Abu-Jaber keeps the posts coming…
In 2012 Len Wiseman brought us a remake of the cult 1990 science fiction action movie ‘Total Recall’. His modern reboot included some amazing action scenes and several exotic fictional vehicles. Today in 2015 Flickr’s Tiler has created his own remake in LEGO form by building this highly detailed hover car as used in the movie’s chase sequence.
What could be more amazing than taking a ride in an exotic supercar that doesn’t have any wheels!? All of the speed without having to feel the pain of speed bumps or the street flaws! You can take a ride in Tiler’s brilliant Total Recall hover car by visiting him on Flickr.
Thanks to Firas for joining us today, and for inadvertently reminding us of Kate Beckinsale’s character in the movie. Google google google….
The Fifth Element
1997’s blockbuster The Fifth Element contained everything you could possibly want in a sci-fi movie; Flying cabs, Milla Jovovich, giant robotic turkeys, Milla Jovovich, exploding spaceships and Milla Jovovich.
TLCB regular and Brothers Brickist Ralph Savelsberg (aka Mad Physicist) has applied his talented hands to the first item on the aforementioned list (insert your own joke about the second, fourth and sixth), with his brilliant Lego recreation of Bruce Willis’ hover cab. Ralph has also constructed a brick-built Milla Jovovich, but for some reason it doesn’t quite capture the subject matter in the same way.
Anyway, while we make friends with Google Images you can see more of Bruce’s taxi (and Milla) by visiting Ralph’s Flickr page here.
iCar
Rumour has it that Apple are apparently hard at work developing an autonomous car for production, and are headhunting the best minds at Google, Tesla and other tech and automotive leaders to help them accomplish it.
This is genuinely exciting, as Apple have – and we know this next sentence is probably going to irk some Apple fans – launched the square route of jack shit since the passing of Steve Jobs. No, a slightly bigger iPhone and a slightly slimmer iMac don’t count.
Anyway, if Apple do manage to bring their autonomous vehicle to market we hope it’ll look something a bit like this hovercar from MOCpages’ Jerac. Only in white of course.
Suggested to us by a reader, there’s more to see at Jerac’s MOCpage via the link above.
Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep?
TLCB’s favourite movie car maker is back, and with something a little special. It’s only 5 years until we reach the year when 1982’s Blade Runner is set, and we’re no nearer to hovering cars now than we were those 32 years ago, but they still look just as cool. This is the Police Spinner from the legendary sci-fi film and it’s the work of Flickr’s and Brothers Bricks‘ Ralph Savelsberg. See more of this and his other movie cars here.
Where we’re going, we don’t need roads!
Yes that is a Back to the Future quote, but this isn’t a DeLorean. _Zenn has applied some nifty looking hover car tech to an old pick-up truck, and the result is rather neat. We quite like the idea that retro-fitting hover-car components to any old car may one day be a reality. Make it so boffins of the world, make it so.
