125cc of Fun

Lego Go-Kart

Much like our Elves, go-karts are small, noisy, and deceptively fast. However unlike our Elves they’re also great fun, and – being rear-wheel-drive – they’re proper driver’s tools too.

This wonderful little Model Team recreation of a generic rental kart comes from previous bloggee Angka Utama, and the detail he’s squeezed into it is simply astounding! Pedals, steering rack, brake lines, fuel lines, single cylinder piston engine… there’s more to see at both Flickr and MOCpages – click the links above, aim for the chequered flag, and win that little plastic trophy!

Lego Ford Mustang GT350

Back in the 1960s a rather special deal was done. Hertz, recognising the interest in Ford’s new muscle car, signed a deal with Ford, who provided the company with 1,000 specially-painted Mustang GT350s. The cars joined the rental fleet and immediately gave both companies marketing gold, allowing almost anyone to drive the hottest car in America for a day.

After the rental arrangement concluded the cars were refurbished (hopefully very throughly!) and sold on as the Mustang GT350-H. Some of these cars survive complete with their iconic black and gold liveries, and they look gloriously cool in today’s world of white and sliver.

This spectacular replica of one of the original 1,000 Hertz Mustangs comes from previous bloggee Pawel Kmiec (better known as Sariel) and it captures the famous livery beautifully.

Sariel’s GT350-H isn’t just beautiful on the outside either, as underneath the removable bodywork sits a fully remote controlled drivetrain, with twin Power Functions drive, remote steering, plus a working V8 piston engine and front and rear suspension.

There’s lots more of Pawel’s brilliant Ford Mustang GT350-H to see on Flickr at his photo album, you can read our interview with him as part of the ‘Become a Professional’ series by clicking here, and you watch the model in action via the excellent YouTube video below.

Lego Ford E-350 Penske Truck

Everyone knows the fastest car in the world is a rental car. Here though is the rental exception. Not because it’s a box truck. That wouldn’t stop this staff writer from doing a million in it. No, this Ford E-350 Penske rental truck is the exception because it would have the driver’s own furniture in the back of it, and thus be driven in a manner similar to that adopted on his driving test. Once it’s unloaded though, the drive back the rental office would definitely make up for lost time.

This top-notch recreation of the humble Ford E-350 box truck complete with a lovely brick-built Penske livery is the latest build by colognebrick of Flickr. The model is wonderfully detailed and features some excellent decals too; head over to colognebrick’s photostream to check out all the images, and you can hear today’s title song (featuring some of the most complex and beautiful lyrics ever penned) by clicking here.

Lego Penske Rental Truck

This might be the most unglamorous photograph we’ve ever published! This Penske rental truck is the work of the hugely talented LegoMarat, and we love it for the utterly boring (and thus wonderfully realistic) scene in which it’s pictured.

Underneath the nondescript rental bodywork lives some most excellent Technic functionality, including remote controlled drive and steering, suspension, and a working tail-lift.

All of LegoMarat’s photos of his truck can be found on Flickr, and you can view them by clicking here.
