Soporific Sedans

Is there anything more automotively dreary than an American full-size sedan?

OK, American mid-size SUVs, which have almost completely replaced the sedan market, are the new pinnacle of blandness, but we’re not sure that even they can eclipse a grey Ford Crown Victoria.

This Lego version of the wheeled white space comes from Flickr’s Ralph Savelsberg, who somehow managed to complete it without falling asleep during construction.

Ralph’s Ford Crown Vic joins some other tediously drab sedans in the corner of his garage, and there’s more to see of it and them at his photostream via the link above, all of which are perfect for something that’s coming soon here at The Lego Car Blog…

New York New York…

Lego Ford Crown Victoria NYC Taxi

…has crummy taxis. The Ford Crown Victoria is big on the outside yet small in the back, inefficient, uneconomical and hugely polluting. None of things you want from a vehicle that spends its time threading through congested city streets with a paying customer in the rear seat. Still, the Crown Vic is designed to run for ever and thus it became the default choice for cabbies and police departments across America back when gas was cheaper than water.

This stunningly accurate replica of the iconic Crown Vic in New York City Taxi livery has been built by Flickr builder and TLCB regular Ralph Savelsberg aka Mad Physicist, and it’s as good as anything you’ll see in a Legoland theme park. You can hail it for yourself at Ralph’s photostream via the link above.

Pretty in Pink

Lego Ford Fairlane Crown Victoria Skyliner

Classic American cars subscribed to the ‘more is more’ approach to design, and the case of this – Ford’s Fairlane Crown Victoria Skyliner – to naming too. This gorgeous Lego version of the classic Ford has been built by TLCB regular Ralph Savelsberg, and there’s more to see here.

Town Trio

Lego Town Cars

This lovely trio of Town cars was discovered by a very fortunate Elf. An Elf which now has three meal tokens. Will it use these over a number of days, or will it go on a bender and use all three in the next hour? We think we know the answer to that…

Anyway, as we prepare for the appearance of a perfectly spherical – and possibly quite ill – Elf, you can check out its finds by heading to Aitor Fernandez‘ MOCpage. There’s an ’80s Ford Crown Victoria taxi, a beautiful Rolls Royce Phantom, and a neat ’65 Pontiac Firebird – all of which can be viewed via the link above.
