Ice Breaker

Well this looks considerably more perilous than the tedious opening questions at a corporate team building away day. It’s the work of ExeSandbox of Flickr, who has created this marvellous ice breaking ship and Land Rover Defender scene which looks sure to end in the Defender’s occupants being very wet, very cold, and then very dead. Good thing it’s digital only. Pack your thermals and head out onto the ice via the link above to see all of the wonderful imagery.

What’s in the Box?

Lego Polar Ship Red Box

We don’t often blog ships here at The Lego Car Blog, but when we do they’re big. This astonishing polar transport ship is the work of TLCB favourite Konajra, whose latest model has been commissioned by Red Box Energy.

Two of these heavy module ice-breakers are currently under construction for the company, and when complete they’ll be the widest Polar Class vessels in the world, capable of transporting 20,000 tons each.

Konajra’s Lego version is no less impressive; the display is almost a meter wide itself and 1.7 meters long. You can see all of the images on Flickr – click here to make the voyage.

Arctic Roll

Arctic 01

It’s Technic! It’s Power Functions! It’s Pneumatic! It can smush 17 Elves into The Lego Car Blog carpet in one go! We’re still scraping up and plumping up our flattened workers after some of their colleagues brought this giant machine into the office. It has the perfect blend of Lego features to excite our excitable workers.

Russian builder Desert752 Kirill’s land leviathan looks as though some of his countrymen have put one of their mighty ice-breaking ships onto tracks. Weighing in at 6.9kg, the handle-like gantry in the middle is actually a handle, so that the machine can be carried around. Click this link to MOCpages to see more of this beast, plus diagrams of the pneumatics and drive-train and lists of all of the PF gear that makes it function. There’s also a video of the Arctic Explorer in action.
