Space Balls

Lego Spaceship

Swooooosh!

This slick looking spacecraft is the work of Henrik Hoexbroe on MOCpages, who came up with the design by crossing The Jetsons with a Ferrari. Well, the Premiership footballers of the future are going to need something flashy to drive around in. See more here.

Cows in Space!

Lego Tractor. In space.

Mmm… Space Burgers

Another day, another Elf returns claiming a dinner token. Today’s find hails from Flickr, and we think it’s probably easiest to let cmaddison explain it; “The space farmer hauling space hay for his space cows with his space tractor. Space.”

There you have it, space.

Simplicity in Space

Lego Space Shuttle

It’s all LEGO in this picture, Earth and Moon included

Sometimes it’s the simplest solutions that yield the most impressive results. This micro-scale shuttle and space-scape is the work of bruceywan on Flickr. Everything in the shot is a LEGO brick. Click the link to read how he did it.

Machine No.1

Lego Machine No.1

We have literally no idea what this is for. But we like it.

Discovered on The Brothers Brick, this brilliantly original space ship, simply entitled ‘Machine No.1’, is the work of vince_toulouse on Flickr, who is also the owner of possibly the most French name ever.

Mixing art-deco curves, ’60s style engineering and Sci-Fi has resulted in something we can’t really explain, but that’s wonderful nonetheless. See more at Vince’s Flickr photostream.

Boxing Clever

Lego Freighter

Inter-Planetary Removals

Earth getting a bit crowded? Fancy a change of atmosphere? Then why not move across the galaxy with Box Traveller? LEGOLIZE IT MAN put down his foreign narcotics just long enough to build this rather lovely cosmic removals van. See more on Flickr.

Lego Spaceship Race

Insert Yogi Bear for twice the awesome

Time to jump in The Lego Car Blog Time Machine and go all the way back to 1978, long before this writer was even born. Hold on tight…

One of the most peculiar but brilliant cartoons to come out of the famous Hannah-Barbera studios was the insane ‘Yogi’s Space Race’. Hannah-Barbera were on a bit of a roll in the ’70s, with stupendous shows like Scooby Doo, The Flintstones, Top Cat and Hong Kong Phooey all beaming onto televisions around the world. All this success must’ve led to a massive narcotics and alcohol-fueled binge, because the studio promptly went mental and sent one of their best loved picnic-pinching bears into space for an intergalactic version of Wacky Races. Only 13 episodes were made before Yogi returned to Yellowstone Park to see out his days stealing cake and dodging Ranger Smith, but all were TV gold.

The splendidly named onosendai2600 recaptures this retro-madness with his glorious Galactic Asteroid Rally Circuit (GARC) racers. All are made in a distinctly old-school style, whilst also being wildly futuristic. You can see the full gallery of all four Asteroid Racers on Flickr.

Lego Space Racer

Galactic Asteroid Rally Racing. Obviously.

The 8th Passenger

Lego USCSS Notromo

From Ridley Scott’s 1979 masterpiece ‘Alien’; the USCSS Nostromo

This hulking black freighter is one of the most important spaceships in cinema history. Probably the first spacecraft that wasn’t all sleek and light inside, the Nostromo was more like a seagoing cargo ship; dirty, lived in, and not all that palatable. And it contained something that would definitely put a dent in its resale value when, after answering a distress call, the unfortunate crew discovered that there was another life-form sharing their air…

Before the franchise descended into the whole Alien Vs Predator farce it was also one of the few stories where the sequel (Aliens) was as good as the original, something only matched by The Godfather.

Anyway, the MOC: This stunning recreation of the Nostromo is the work of Mihe Stonee on MOCpages. Containing over 9,000 pieces and at over 70cm long it features complete landing gear, engine detail, lifts and communication systems. View the full gallery at the above link.

Clockwork Orange

Lego Space Racer

Orange No.1

A double post today, with a decidedly orange theme. Above we have Tromas’s very cool Honda Hoshi Sci-Fi Racer, looking like an offshore powerboat racer for the skies, whilst below we have Heiwa71’s superb Orange Fleet. We think the Elves must’ve been watching an orange-orientated Sesame Street yesterday…

Lego Space Fleet

Orange No.s 2, 3 and 4

Lego Spaceship

Spacepunk

This very purple viper spaceship is the work of the rather talented tardisblue. Side-note; Punk appears to make a resurgence at some point in the future, judging by the follicly-endowed pilot. Check out the full photo gallery on Flickr.

Moving Out

Lego Spaceship

Not quite a car…

This is not a car. In fact it’s so far outside our vehicular remit we wondered whether to post it. But… there’s something about that entrancing blue glow…

The beautiful picture above is the work of Pierre E Fieschi on Flickr, whose Tesseract space freighter and accompanying Battleship escort are the product of both some serious brick-based talent and a deep working knowledge of the intricacies of Photoshop. View more of his incredible works by clicking on his name above.

Sir Badass of Badassery

Lego Mech

Nice – but what if it had TWO guns!

This is not a car. It’s not a truck, nor a plane, nor a spaceship. But it is sub-zero levels of cool, and it made the Elves stomp around the office, some with lampshades or bins on their heads, brandishing spatulas, tongs and other utensil-based weaponry.

Normally when a MOC stirs up feelings of long-suppressed free-will in the Elves we end up having to diffuse a riot, but today they’re so enamored with their find that they’ve been happily playing Robots all morning. So if you see one chunkily walk past you whilst you’re visiting Eurobricks, MOCpages or some-such site, wearing a bucket on its head and with tissue boxes on its feet, gently point it in the direction of anything vaguely robotic – you’ll make its day.

Oh, we nearly forgot! This ridiculously cool MOC is the work of Mr Elliott Feldman on MOCpages. There’s a full(ish) backstory and  a comprehensive gallery of the component parts. Check it out here.

Galactic Exploration

Capital Planetary Deployment Unit

Run out of space on Earth? Want to find yourself a new home? Then you need a Capital Planetary Deployment Unit. Built to colonize distant worlds, Pierre Fieschi‘s monstrous conception has been imagined down to the last detail. View Pierre’s incredible creation, and the artwork that goes alongside it, on Flickr.

Pocket-Sprung Space Travel

Mattress Harvester

Classic Space

A double post today, from MOCpages and Flickr. We had ‘Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull’ on in TLCB Towers, and whilst a bit of a turkey, it got us in the mood for a Space post. Elves were duly dispatched and as were feeling generous we let two of them earn dinner. So, above we have David Roberts‘ rather lovely ‘Mattress Harvester’, imagined from the Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy, and below we have legorobo‘s FX00, imagined from, er… his imagination. Enjoy readers.

Classy Space

Chanel No.5

Gloster Hammer

It’s… er… we have absolutely no idea.

This wacky looking spaceship comes straight from the tangled mind of the oneman on Flickr. Part racer, part lunar lander, part hot rod, we can’t really place this into any of our usual categories. The Elves however, seemed very taken with it, running round The Lego Car Blog Towers making ‘swooshing’ noises until we threw some jellybeans outside and locked the door. To see more weird and wonderful creations from the oneman click his name above.

Blacktron is Back!*

Blacktron Fighter

Blacktron X-1 Space Fighter

*Not really. But if it were back it might look a little something like this. MOCpages’ Peter deYeule locked an X-Wing in a room with a 1980s Blacktron Spaceship, lit some candles and turned on some Barry White, and this is the result. His X-1 Space Fighter has all the sleek goodness of modern building, combined with the classic retro yellow-on-black paint-job from decades past. View more on MOCpages.
