Seventies Swede

Lego Volvo Truck

The Lego Car Blog Elves are wising up on the builders to watch in their hunt for the best vehicular creations the web has to offer. Flickr’s Thietmaier has featured on these pages a few times before with his excellent Town scale vehicles, so his latest creation, a beautiful 1970’s Volvo F88 Articulated flatbed truck, prompted a race back to the office from several Elves keen for a meal. The winning Elf is currently tucking into a green Smartie, whilst the losers have been despondently ejected from the office to continue their search. See more of the Volvo at Thietmaier’s photostream here.

Town Truckin’

Lego truck

Over to Flickr now, where Nexus7.1 has posted some gorgeous Town style articulated trucks. Based upon models from the ’80s, Nexus’ builds feature some incredible detailing normally reserved for vehicles of a much larger scale – just look at the those letters! See all the photos at the link above.

Steady Eddie

Lego Eddie Stobart

This is one for our British readers, Andy L’s fantastic Eddie Stobart Volvo truck. Built in 7-wide mini-fig scale you can see all the photos on MOCpages.

Black Label

Lego Volvo F16 Truck

This enormous 1987 Volvo F16 Globetrotter truck is the work of Andrea Lattanzio on MOCpages. Featuring opening doors, a tilting cab, and a detailed straight-6 engine and gearbox, it’s one of the standout trucks of 2013. See all the photos on Andrea’s MOCpage here.

Red Giant

Lego Volco TruckThis huge 1:13 scale 1980s Volvo F12 intercooler was discovered by one of the Elves today. Built by Andrea Lattanzio aka Norton 74 you can see the full gallery and accompanying commentary on either MOCpages or Flickr.

Globetrotter

Lego Volvo TruckTLCB favourite [Maks] returns with a remarkably detailed Town-scale Volvo FM Globetrotter truck and Nooteboom trailer. [Maks]’ models pack the sort of detailing you’d normally expect to find in a Model Team set into tiny mini-fig friendly packages. To see more of the Volvo and his other Town creations head over to Flickr.

Swedish Twins

Lego Volvo Trucks Swedish TwinsFlickr user Smigol stopped searching for the one ring just long enough to build this great Swedish pair. His two Town-scale Volvo FH trucks look the business, and more importantly have allowed us to use some phrases which will return hits from searches that are, er… a little ‘different’ to the usual ones that bring people here, which is always funny. So if you’re here for LEGO, check out Smigol’s work via the link above, and if you’re here expecting Scandinavian sisters, apologies for the trickery!

Polar Express

Lego Volvo Truck

The Lego Car Blog Elves are confused today. They thought the Polar Express was a Christmassy cartoon film about a steam train, which – being Elves – they like very much. However Karwik, a TLCB favourite (and with builds like this one you can see why) uses the same name to wonderful effect on the side of this superb Volvo F89 articulated truck. You can see more of this, and his other creations, here.

Party Bus

Lego Technic Bus

Volvo Concept Articulated Bus (CAB)

This stupendous machine is a Volvo Bus Concept from Vibor Cavor on Flickr and MOCpages. Constructed using huge restaurant wall pieces as well as standard blue and white bricks it has a somewhat aquatic flavour. Inside sit a variety of LEGO Technic figures, and their mini-figure children, whilst underneath them LEGO Technic Power Functions motors propel the bus towards its next stop. To see more of Vibor’s wonderful creation check out his Flickr gallery or MOCpage at the links above.

Lego Technic Bus

Transportation of the future looks good. Weird, but good.

Town Trucks

Lego American Truck

U.S Truck

Two Elves returned today, each carrying a Town scale truck from opposite sides of the Atlantic. Fearing yet another brutal Elf fight (it takes ages to clean the office afterwards), and as each truck is worthy of posting, we’ve doubled-up and included both. The first (above) is a U.S Peterbilt from _lichtblau_ featuring some lovely chromed parts. The second (below), from Thietmaier, is a classic European Volvo F10. You can see more of each truck on Flickr.

To the antiques shop!

Not your usual Volvo, this monstrous all terrain truck, built by Vibor Cavor, is the Elves latest find. Fully RC via Lego Power Functions, it’s complete with pendular suspension, a two-speed gearbox, 4×4 with diff-locks, and… the sail from an old Lego Pirate ship! Check out all the details on MOCpages.

Ordinary Car, Extraordinary Quality

Image

Rolands Kirpis doesn’t do supercars, or exotics. He builds rare curiosities and things like this – an everyday family car built with all the care and panache of the best Supercar builders. Check out those doors, and then figure out how he hinged all four of them….
