This is an Isuzu NPR, and they are everywhere. Box trucks, tipper trucks, recovery trucks, chiller trucks, cherrypickers, and – today – hook-lifts. This excellent Technic version of the ubiquitous NPR comes from TLCB Master MOCer Thirdwigg, and not only features a working hook-lift mechanism but a host of other hand-operated functions too, including an inline-4 engine under a tilting cab, ‘HOG’ steering, and opening doors and tailgate.

We like a good hook here at TLCB, and they don’t come much gooder or hookier than this huge DAF FAD 95.400 ATI 8×4 hook-lift truck by Flickr’s Arian Janssens.

Able to hoist an enormous container onto itself, as well as tow another behind on a draw-bar trailer, Arian’s DAF is a testament to large scale model-making, and there’s loads more to see at his ‘DAF FAD 95.400 ATI 8×4’ album. Take a look via the link above if it’s got you hooked…

It’s truck time here at The Lego Car Blog. Because we didn’t find any cars. But what a truck it is. Constructed by serial bloggee Arian Janssens, this DAF FAS XG+ 530 is outfitted with a hook-lift and drawbar trailer, meaning it can take two huge loads at once. Superb attention to detail is evident throughout the truck, trailer, and the massive black containers being transported by both, and there’s much more to see of the component parts and the complete rig at Arian’s ‘DAF FAS XG+ 530’ album on Flickr.

It’s New Year’s Day, and there’s already a hooker in the office. Nope, we haven’t gone ‘Wolf of Wall Street’ for 2025 (we’re still very much a ropey Lego blog rather than a stock market scam); this one is of the Lego variety, being a splendid fully mechanical Technic hook-lift truck courtesy of TLCB Master MOCer Thirdwigg.

Fitted with front and rear axle steering, a working piston engine under the tilting cab, a functioning hook-lift plus tipper mechanism, and two roll-off containers (one of which is also fitted with a slewing crane grab), Thirdwigg’s truck is an excellent creation with which to begin the new year.

The Lego Car Blog Elves love a big red truck, and they don’t come much bigger, redder, and truckier than this one. It’s a DAF FAW XF 450 hook-lift container truck, as built (and presented) beautifully by TLCB regular Arian Janessens. Working steered axles and a functional hook-lift feature, and there’s more to see on Flickr via the link above.

A Whole Lotta Grass

Surprisingly lucrative, easy to grow, and in demand just about everywhere, grass is bigger business than you might think.

Cue Arian Janssens, whose dope DAF 95.360 Space Cab hook-lift and drawbar trailer are designed solely to transport the stuff.

Both the truck and trailer can tip their respective containers independently, and share them with the world’s weirdest lawnmower for filling during the cutting process.

TLCB’s thought for the day; 1970s trucks all looked like toys. This primary-coloured block of magnificence is a classic DAF NAT 2800 hook-lift truck, as created by previous bloggee Arian Janssens, and it proves said thought wonderfully. Big Green Boxes

This is a Tatra PR3333 6×6 truck, outfitted with a hook-lift system and depicted in Dutch Army specification by Flickr’s Arian Janssens.

We’re not sure what’s in the big green box it’s carrying, nor the second one towed behind via the neat drawbar trailer, but as we assume it’s army stuff we probably wouldn’t understand anyway.

Ukrainer Container

The war in Ukraine (or ‘Special Military Operation’ to our Russian and Belarusian readers) continues, with more devastation, civilian killings, and Kremlin lies. So far though, the Ukrainian flag continues to fly, being raised over areas retaken from the invading Russian forces in recent days.

Showing his support is Jonathan Elliott, whose neat hook-lift truck is pictured raising the Ukrainian flag in container form. If you’d like to show your solidarity with Ukraine too, please do build in blue and yellow, and you can donate to the enormous refugee crisis Putin has created via organisations such as the Disasters Emergency Committee.

Red Lorry Yellow Lorry

This one’s both. And it has a name as tricky as the tongue-twister title. This is a DAF FAQ CF 430 8×2 hook-lift truck (with three axle trailer), and it comes from Arian Janssens of Flickr.

Constructed to carry a variety of big metal boxes, Arian’s DAF FAQ CF (etc.) is a beautifully built Model Team version of the real truck, complete with a working hook-lift, three steering axles, and an unfurling grab crane mounted behind the cab.

An extensive gallery of images shows the DAF ReallyLongName in a variety of configurations, with and without various containers, the trailer, and the crane operating.

Jumbo Hooker

Nope, we’re not referring to your Mom again, this is a DAF FAC CF 530 8×2 Space Cab truck, complete with a hook-lift system, three-axle Jumbo trailer, a load of two hefty containers, Which makes it a very lengthily-titled creation indeed. Fuchs with a Magnum

This is a Fuchs MHL 320 material handler, essentially a full size arcade claw game. It comes from regular bloggee Damian Z. (aka Thietmaier), who has recreated it with absurd realism using all manner of interesting Lego pieces.

The Fuchs is pictured here alongside a Renault Magnum (named after a gun, or an ice cream, or a condom, we’re not sure) hook-lift container truck, which is just as life-like – we particularly like the splendidly battered and rusting scrap metal container it’s carrying.

The Elven experiments are continuing here at TLCB Towers, as we move on from hoisting Elves via a remote control forklift to seeing how many can fit inside the container of Vladimir Drozd‘s excellent Scania P440 hook-lift truck.

They are – so far – willing participants, but they’re yet to discover that Vladimir’s model uses a motor-driven liner actuator to tip the container, not that we’re about to use it to tumble them into a washing-up bowl of soapy water…

Four wheel steering, working suspension, a functioning hook-lift, and a drawbar trailer are also included, and you can see more of all of that on Flickr via the link above, whilst we surprise-bath an undetermined number of Elves.
