Lego Chibi Transformers

Chibiformers. Another weird internet-based trend of which we know absolutely nothing. Still, despite our ineptitude when it comes to any nerdy fad, we do rather like these two neat ‘Chibi’ Transformers from TLCB debutant Hoyin Lau. Each model cleverly transforms between truck and robot mode, and there’s more to see of each build in both modes at Hoyin’s photostream via the link in the text above.

*Yes, we’re still at the musical puns for blog post titles. This one was a bit of a stretch

Autobots, Roll Out!

Lego Transformers Autobots

It’s been a while since we let the Elves watch a Transformers movie. This is partly because they’ve not found much in the way of Transformers-related builds, but mostly because after the abomination of ‘Transformers 4 – Age of Extinction’ we just couldn’t stomach any more Michael Bay directed nonsense.

Today though, we’ve relented, because one of their number returned with this cache of superb fully Transformable Autobots courtesy of Alex Jones aka Orion Pax.

Each creation is an ingenious work of art, and you can now build them for yourself, as Alex has released a new book containing step-by-step building instructions! There’s more to see via the link above, where you can also find a link to Amazon where Alex’s book is available to buy.

Space Walk

Lego Octan S-P31 Drone Mech

Overused by Americans with a limited vocabulary, ‘awesome’ is an adjective we try to avoid here at The Lego Car Blog. We’re making an exception today though, because this Octan ‘S-P31 Drone Mech’ by Flickr’s Bob DeQuatre is the very definition of awesome. Hidden within the striking exterior shell is a Power Functions motor, enabling this brilliant creation to really walk. You can check out all of the imagery, and watch a video of the mech in action, at Bob’s photostream via the link above.

Semi Prime

Lego Chibi Optimus Prime Transformers

What if Optimus Prime was really, really cute. We’ll he’d look bit something like this, Sam C.‘s diddy ‘Chibi-Prime’. Sam’s tiny Transformer really transforms too, and he joins a few other Chibi-Formers at Sam’s photostream. Click the link above to take a peek.

It’s Christmaaaaaas!

Lego Santa Sleigh Mech

Presents are being wrapped, Santa is checking his list twice, and we’re about to spend the next few days getting drunk. So as we wind things down here for our usual Christmas break we have one last creation to share, Sariel‘s slightly terrifying mechanised-reindeer propelled sleigh. Watch it in action via the link above, have a very Merry Christmas, and we’ll see you all soon!

Christmas wishes

Mechephant

Lego Elephant Mech

Nature’s greatest all-terrain-vehicle makes one heck of a mech. A Mechephant as we’ve called it, because we’re lyrical geniuses…

Found thanks to Bricknerd (yes, we know – we’ll kick an Elf…) it’s the work of Mitsuru Nikaido and there’s more to see here.

The Mechanic

the-mechanic

Sadly for our Elves, this is not Jason Statham’s hitman coming to bring death and chaos but a rather more useful repair droid. This red robot comes complete with a box of tools and some nice parts usage on his sunglasses/welding goggles. He’s a slightly more mainstream creation from the often surreal and streamlined world of TLCB regular Vince Toulouse. Click this link to see more of this creation, including what might be his metal mullet poking out from the back of his helmet.

Mussolini’s Mech

Lego Dieselpunk Mech

This modified garbage-can arrangement is apparently a Semovente M47 Audax Battle Mech. Created by Flickr’s Marco Marozzi, the Semovente was engineered after an alien ship crashed in Italy in 1933, following which the facist Italian dictator Benito Mussolini put it to work to reverse the losses Italy were facing in North Africa during World War 2.

The mech and its backstory might be fictional, but sadly Mussolini wasn’t, joining forces with Hitler to regain an Italian empire during the Second World War, despite the fact he actually thought Hitler’s ‘Aryan race’ ideas were nonsense. Still, a nice man he was not, brutally crushing all opposition to take absolute power, persecuting the Christian faith, and dividing Italy to create his own Italian Social Republic.

The Italian King finally managed to overthrow Mussolini in 1943, upon which he was jailed – his new puppet state lasting just 19 months. The Germans helped him escape from prison in 1945, but the war was almost over and he was promptly recaptured and executed by Italian Communists.

Had an alien ship really crashed in secret in 1933 though, the outcome of the War, and the future of Europe and North Africa, could have been very different… There’s more to see of Marco’s alternate dieselpunk reality on Flickr – click the link above to take a look.

Car Chases…

Lego Transformers

…are about to get a lot more interesting! This ingenious Transformer comes from Flickr’s RGB900 and looks killer in both car and robot modes. Lucky the police have got a few tricks up their sleeves too, with the result likely to be a giant robot death match at the end of every car chase. The Elves, connoisseurs of ‘World Wildest Police Chase’ type programmes (and with a well-documented love of Transformers), are very excited.

There’s more to see of each of RGB’s builds at his Flickr photostream, which includes photos of the seriously clever transformation process used to turn a 6-wide sports car into bipedal robot. Click the link above to make the jump to the full gallery.

The Secret Life of Pets

Lego Pet Mech

…isn’t like the movie. Not in Galaktek‘s world anyway. Puff the Poodle and Fluff the Cat have got their paws on some spectacularly lethal looking pet mechs, and bath time and vet trips have just got a whole lot more difficult. See more at Galaktek’s photostream via the link above – just don’t mention the ‘B’ or the ‘V’ words…

Sideswipe

Lego Transformers Sideswipe Lamborghini Countach

It’s been a while since TLCB Elves have been allowed to watch Transformers cartoons, but today one Elf is a hero amongst his peers for finding this, Joe Perez (aka MortalSwordsman)’s fiendishly clever recreation of 1984’s ‘Sideswipe’.

In car mode Sideswipe is the poster car for the 1970s; Lamborghini’s actually quite rubbish – but nevertheless iconic – Countach. Lambo’s be-winged V12 supercar is not an easy thing to create from Lego, and is even less so when it needs to reform as an alien robot.

Joe’s brain is a much bigger than the average one in TLCB Towers though, and as such his Sideswipe model transforms beautifully from Countach to robot, and looks superb in either mode. There’s more to see at his photostream on Flickr – click the link above to roll out.

Evil Twin

Lego Transformers Nemesis Prime

It’s been a while since one of our Elves returned with a Transformers-based creation. Previous bloggee MortalSwordsman helps to break the duck with his wonderful Nemesis Prime (the evil twin of Optimus apparently) transformable truck. Looking formidable in both truck and robot modes Mortal’s latest build employs some ingenious brick-wizardry to enable its slick transformation. See more on Flickr at the link above.

Robots on the Rob

Lego Hovercar Robot Ride

When robots rise up against their human overlords (it will happen) we’re not expecting a Terminator/Matrix style mass-extermination. Petty crime though – that’s a given, and it’s where the real fun is. These two joyriding robots look like they’re having a good time; sadly we don’t expect that rather pretty stolen hovercar to look as nice later on in their trip though. Galaktek is the builder and you can see more of the robotic due and their stolen prize on Flickr, before they inevitably stuff it into a lamppost.

Bomb Disposal: If You See Me Running Try To Keep Up!

Lego VW Crafter Bomb Disposal

A staple fixture in ‘funny’ t-shirts, today’s blog title is probably a bit too close for comfort these days. Bomb disposal engineers have always done incredible work, but in Europe for the past few decades their main job has been to take unexploded World War 2 bombs down to the dump and claim the scrap metal value.

Not anymore though. Thanks to the utter shitbags in ISIS and their like, sadly it’s all getting a lot more serious. The heroes depicted in bricks above belong to the Dutch Ministry of Defence Bomb Disposal Division, and with their rather cute looking robot they’re ready to keep the streets of Holland shrapnel and body-part free.

TLCB regular Ralph Savelsberg aka Mad Physicist is the builder, and you can see more of his Bomb Disposal Team and their Volkswagen Crafter long-wheelbase van on Flickr – cut the blue wire at the link above.
