…they’re busy building toys and absolutely no one’s dead. The bemused words of the delightfully spooky Jack Skellington, from Tim Burton (and – weirdly -Disney)’s magnificent 1993 animated fright fest ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’.
This beautifully built scene from the movie comes from Flickr’s César Soares, and it’s scarily good. Lego Purists will find Jack Skellington and the Mayor of Halloween Town’s heads particularly frightening.
Aside from the terrifying thought of the aforementioned Lego brick mutilation, even purists would have to agree that this cartoonish recreation is something rather wonderful; Jack and the Mayor look almost as though LEGO created official movie mini-figures themselves.
There’s more to see of Jack, the Mayor, and the glorious Mayor-Mobile hearse at César’s photostream – take a trip to Halloween Town at the link above.
We’re not really sure that the Ghostbusters franchise was in need of a reboot for 2016, but you never know, it might be good. Whatever the outcome, it’s given TLCB regular Ralph Savelsberg aka Mad Physicist another movie car to recreate for his collection. You can see more of his 2016 ECTO-1 complete with characters from the latest Ghostbusters movie on Flickr at the link above.
‘Motorsport Can Be Dangerous’ – so say the triangular signs attached to racetrack fences. It’s true, it can, but TLCB maths states that as the danger involved in something rises, so does the coolness of the thing in question (and therefore the more tempting it is to try it*).
Flickr builders Lino Martins and Tim Inman have built the perfect vehicles to explain this cultural phenomenon with their ’31 Ford ‘Flatline’ ambulance hot rod (above) and ’67 Cadillac ‘Hells Bells’ hearse hot rod (below). They’re a ridiculously cool way to reach the hospital (or exit it in a bag), and you can see more of each build via the links in the text above.
No, not that Black Friday. Our Elves are feeling quite sinister today (which means they might be plotting something), and thus we have a few dark and moody creations to share.
First up is TLCB regular piratecox‘s superb hot rod hearse, giving mini-figures the chance to go out in style. It looks the perfect funeral vehicle for a chap like the one below, who mixes driving his brutal-looking rat rod pick-up with piloting a jet-black Corsair fighter plane. Sydag is the builder and you can see more of his stunning build on Flickr at the link above, whilst we try to work out what the Elves are up to…
