Rolling a Six

Lego Car Transporter

Discovered by both a very excited TLCB Elf* and a TLCB Reader, today we’re bringing you seven models in one! TLCB favourite (and previous Master MOCer) Nick Barrett has beautifully reconstructed six cars that he’s previously owned, plus a truck on which to transport them.

The truck steers and the trailer has a realistic mechanism to allow the cars to drive on, but really it’s all about that payload. See if you can identify all six of Nick’s eclectic cars before visiting MOCpages or Flickr to find out if you’re right!

Featured TFOL: Davanchi M

Lego BMW 2002 Turbo

It’s been a while since we’ve featured a… er, Featured TFOL, here at The Lego Car Blog. This is mostly because we’d forgotten about it as a category, but also because many TFOL-created vehicles are home-brewed nonsense with fantastically impossible engines and dimensions.

The Lego Car Blog Elves quite like this approach of course, but any such finds are vetoed by the office for being ‘a bit shit’, and the Elf in question swiftly shown the way back out by way of the office catapult.

MOCpages user Davanchi M started out building the aforementioned type of vehicles, but has progressed through the various phases of TFOL-dom to reach the point where his creations are now excellent recreations of some of the most-respected cars not the road. Once such example is this glorious BMW 2002 Turbo – one of the star cars of the 1970s – that Davanchi recently uploaded to his MOCpage.

Davanchi is adding new cars to MOCpages regularly, and all are now well worth a view. You can see more of the BMW and his other creations via the link above!

The Good Old Times

The good old times

This BMW E21 – created by a builder who posted their last creation in 2012 and who is now making a reappearance – is the work of MOCpages’ mezolf 1999. His Lego Beemer reminds us of the good old ’80s, when most cars were simple boxes, and one didn’t really stand out from another in terms of design.

The boxyness does mean it’s quite easy to make ’80s BMWs out of Lego, as shown by Mezolf, who has added some nice detailing to his mid-scaled E21 like the famous “double-kidney grille”.

You can check out Mezolf’s BMW by clicking the link above.

Dust Trail

Lego Hot Rod Salt Flats

We’ve featured _Tiler‘s awesome BMW-powered Ford Model-A hot rod here at The Lego Car Blog before, and he’s recently released a few new salt-flat photographs that are too good to pass up. Based on a real 1928 Model-A Ford built by hot rod builder Mike Burroughs, _Tiler’s Lego version is one of the star mini-figure scale models of 2013. See all the new photographs on Flickr at the link above.

Stance|Works

Ford BMW Hot RodThis utterly beautiful rat rod is the work of TLCB regular _Tiler, whose perfectly photographed creations continue to amaze us with their simplicity and grace. His latest work is a replica of Mike Burroughs’ BMW-powered 1928 Ford Model A, and it’s one of the best Town-scale hot rods we’ve ever seen here at TLCB. Check out the full gallery of _Tiler’s brilliant build here, and you read about the amazing real car on which _Tiler’s creation is based at the Stance|Works website.

Rat Race

Lego BMW Rat RodHere at The Lego Car Blog we’re sometimes preoccupied with the pretty, the powerful and the prestigious when it comes to the cars we publish. Today we rectify this, with an old BMW. An old BMW which has the whole office yearning to own it. _Tiler‘s BMW 2002 Rat Rod is one of our favourite creations of 2013, and best of all it’s based on a real BMW Rat Rod, one you can view in _Tiler’s links. _Tiler’s work has appeared here quite frequently over the past few weeks, but when it looks like perfect we can’t help but feature it. See the whole superb gallery at the link above.

Procar

BMW M1

The M1 Procar was arguably the first proper ‘M’ car from BMW, starting probably the most famous in-house tuned range of vehicles in the world. It was also a proper racer, wearing the now iconic BMW Motorsport Division stripes. Rolling Bricks recreates the legend, stripes included, on Flickr and MOCpages. See more of his superb recreation via the link above, or at his MOCpage here.

Turbo Tuesday

Lego BMW 2002 TurboIt’s our second ‘T is for Tuesday’ post (let’s see how long we can string this out!), and this ‘T’ is for ‘Turbo’ – a word synonymous with fast cars. Back in the 1970s turbo-chargers on road cars were a very rare event. One of the first manufacturers to embrace forced-induction were BMW, who bolted a KKK turbo-charger onto their little 2002 saloon, creating an instant classic.

Exactly 40 years on Flickr user _Tiler brings back the first European production car with a turbo in Lego form, and rather splendid it is too! See it and his other creations via the link above.

Royal Baby

Lego BMW Isetta Bubble CarWe round off today’s bumper edition of The Lego Car Blog with the news everyone’s talking about; the arrival of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s baby boy (or ‘Wills and Kate’ if you’re a reader of the British tabloid newspapers), third in line to the British throne.

We do sometimes like to link TLCB to current events, and we think we’ve done it rather well this time, with Brickshelf user mijasper‘s lovely BMW Isetta bubble car, which is about as ‘baby’ as a car can be.

‘But’, we hear you say, ‘..the Isetta’s German!’. Yes it is. However, the British Royal Family have a slightly German secret.

There, you see! A seamless link after all.

The Long Way Round

BMW Motorcycle

BMW Motorbike by Fred Ottens

When Obi-Wan Kenobi and that other bloke decided to bike round the world, they chose this, the BMW 1200, as their ride. Fred Ottens over on MOCpages recreates a wonderful bike using some yellow, black and very shiny bricks.
