Lazing on a Sunny Afternoon

Lego RC Sportcar Concept

It’s sunny here at TLCB Towers and that makes both us and the Elves a bit dozy. Luckily Chris Elliott, one of our Guest Bloggers, joins us to pen today’s post;

Channeling his inner European luxury car designer, Tobias Munzert brings us this gorgeous remote-controlled concept car in stunning red with wide silver rims à la Ferrari. Utilizing both System and Technic parts this model is creatively constructed and wonderful to look at from all angles. You can check out more pictures of this beauty (in addition to more of Mr. Munzert’s work) on his Flickr photostream here, or via his MOCpages account.

Work of Fiction

Lego Supercar

This model may not be a replica of real car, the steering may be faked and it may not feature any working functions at all. But just look at it! It’s the work of previous Featured TFOL and MOCpages builder Alexander Paschoaletto, and it’s beautiful. See all the photos of Alex’s stunning design here.

Rhinoplasty

Lego Rhino Concept

We end the weekend with a second concept car; Aaden H’s ‘Rhino’. Built for a Flickr challenge it’s available to view here.

Green Machines

Lego Sci-Fi Concept CarIt’s green Smarties all around today at TLCB. First up, Flickr’s Nannan Zhang shows us what it’ll be like to drive in the future if you’ve got no friends or family. See his single-seat ‘Izara Roadrunner’ here.

Our second of today’s double comes from car-building extraordinaire Lino M, with his Bugster concept. See it and his other cars via his photostream here.

Three Days of the Condor

Lego Concept CarWe’re not sure if Peteris Sprogis took inspiration for his ‘Condor’ concept car from the 1975 movie in this post’s title, or from the massive vulture-y type bird of the same name, but it’s the only quote we could find with the word ‘Condor’ in it, so it’s going to stay. His creation will only be blogged for the usual one day too, so the quote is a bit pointless, but… shut up.

See more of Peteris’ latest work on Flickr here.

It’s Not Easy Being Green

Lego Sludge PuppyKermit’s right, it isn’t easy, particularly if you’re a LEGO builder. Until fairly recently green was exclusively reserved for vegetation and base plates, making building from it trickier than wiring a plug wearing oven gloves. There are a few builders that do brave the hue though, and the results can be very good indeed. Here we bring you a speedy run-down of four of the best, whilst the Elves feast on green Smarties for their efforts.

First up (above) is Legohaulic’s brilliant ‘Sludge Puppy’, built for the Lego Adventure Book 2 and suggested to us via the Feedback page. Legohaulic uses – quite literally – a splash of green to great effect. Check out all the images on Flickr here.

Lego Green Machine

Next up, and continuing the sci-fi theme, is LEGOLIZE IT MAN‘s ‘Green Machine’ mech. We’ve featured LEGOLIZE IT MAN’s work a few times here at The Lego Car Blog, despite it never really including a car. You can see all his awesome builds via his photostream at the link above, and you can see what has appeared here by typing his name into the Search function at the bottom of this page.

Lego Trabant 601

And finally as we’re supposed to be a car blog we’d better throw in a few cars. Above is newcomer Vilem Sustr’s superb Trabant 601 Combi. One of the nicest cars we’ve seen this year we heartily recommend viewing all the photos and Vilem’s MOCpage here. Below is our final Green Special creation, Vibor Cavor (aka Veeborg)’s Audi Quattro concept. As with all of Vibor’s work there is some very inventive design throughout and you can see all the photos on either MOCpages or Flickr.

That completes our round-up of one of LEGO’s most unusual hues. You can join the discussion on each creation by clicking the associated links, just remember to power-down and turn the lights off when you’re done!

Retro-Future

Lego Wacky Racers RodInspired by Wacky Racers (maybe the greatest cartoon ever?), legoalbert‘s ‘Ikuso Concept’ for the ‘Rod Racing Championship’ looks like something that a 1960’s designer thought we’d be driving today. Around a colony on the moon.

Strangely none of these visionaries foresaw the mobile phone, X-Factor, the ipod or the Toyota Prius. But then, their concepts always did look far more fun than how real life has turned out.

The Sentinel

Lego Sentinel

Syd Mead’s ‘Sentinel 400 Limousine’, recreated in LEGO

The coolest car we’ve ever featured. And there’s nothing more we can say than that. iomedes !… is the builder.

The coolest Lego car ever

Party Bus

Lego Technic Bus

Volvo Concept Articulated Bus (CAB)

This stupendous machine is a Volvo Bus Concept from Vibor Cavor on Flickr and MOCpages. Constructed using huge restaurant wall pieces as well as standard blue and white bricks it has a somewhat aquatic flavour. Inside sit a variety of LEGO Technic figures, and their mini-figure children, whilst underneath them LEGO Technic Power Functions motors propel the bus towards its next stop. To see more of Vibor’s wonderful creation check out his Flickr gallery or MOCpage at the links above.

Transportation of the future looks good. Weird, but good.

Green Future

Honda Concept

Ironsniper’s Honda Concept

This green machine was uncovered by one of our Elves on Flickr. Ironsniper uses some rather genius angles in his futuristic Honda Concept. See more at his photostream.
