Lego Star Destroyer

We don’t often publicise Star Wars creations here at The Lego Car Blog; there are other Lego blogs that do sci-fi far better than we can. However every once in a while even our car-biased office is stopped by something so incredible it takes us away from looking at things with wheels. This is one such time, and the cause of our collective awe is this; Jerac‘s unbelievable two metre long Imperial Star Destroyer.

Jerac has published a raft of stunning images, including this one edited by Migalart, on his Flickr photostream. Click the link above to see the complete gallery, which almost all of TLCB Elves are currently looking through whilst chanting ‘daan daan daan, dun da daan, dun da daan…’ in unison. We hope they’re not getting any ideas…

Easy Vader

Lego Darth Vader Motorbike

Get your motor runnin’
Head out on the highway
Lookin’ for adventure
And whatever comes our way
Yeah Darth’s gonna make it happen
Take the world in a love embrace
Fire all of your guns at once
And explode into space

Spacey Saturday

Lego D-Wing Fighter

The Elves are feeling a bit peculiar this weekend, and thus they’ve found some pretty weird creations today. Not all were suitable for public viewing, but these two definitely are. First up (above) is the latest creation by TLCB favourite VolumeX, who has expanded on the Star Wars ship naming rules and designed a ‘D-Wing’ fighter. You can see all the details at VolumeX’s photostream above.

Lego Technic Star Wars Droid

Today’s second spacey MOC comes from Technic builder Vimal Patel, better known as vmln8r, who also builds something that bears a close resemblance to George Lucas’ finest work. Vimal’s Technic droid features remote control, including a handy grabbing arm that looks great for fetching sweets and the TV remote. See it in action below, or on Vimal’s photostream via the link above.

Pod Race

Lego Star Wars Pod RacerThe Pod Race in Star Wars Episode 1, complete with F1 cars dubbed into the sound effects, was a pretty spectacular part of the movie. It almost made up for the crushing disappointment of Jar Jar Binks failing to be sucked into one of Anakin’s podracer engines in a previous scene. Legopard on MOCpages recreates one of the racers from the movie with his KV9T9-B Wasp Podracer, on which the engine detailing alone blew our minds. See why at the link above.

Rainbow-D2

Lego R2-D2 RainbowWe know this is a long way from being a car (although it does have wheels and, inexplicably, jet thrusters depending on which movie you’re watching), but it’s too delightful not to blog. Monsterbrick gives R2-D2 an Andy Warhol-esque ‘Art Car’ paint-job on Flickr.

John’s Day Off

Lego Storm Trooper Surfing

Dude, like totally nailing the surf broh

Even Storm Troopers like some time off. zebzebzeb visits John at the beach.

Static Shock

Sky-Fi Thunderbird

The English Electric Lightning's got nothing on this

Jon Hall on Flickr is man with an impressively original imagination. His ‘T-160 Thunderbird’ is armed with two machine guns, but more frighteningly, 120,000 volts for electrocuting those who displease you. And probably giving everyone within 25 miles one hell of an afro. It reminds us a little of the energy connection mounted to Star Wars Pod-racers, only if Jar-Jar Binks stuck his head between these electrodes he certainly wouldn’t be around to annoy everyone for the rest of the movie.

Not A Car…

Star Wars AT-AT

Is that George Lucas in the orange doing some more unnecessary meddling?

…but too cool not to blog it.

2×4 posted this monster AT-AT complete with snowy terrain on MOCpages, just in time to coincide with another slightly updated re-release of a Star Wars movie aimed at squeezing another few quid from the franchise. George Lucas; Just stop. Please. Just. Stop.
