To Greenland!

In more batshit crazy news this week, serial divorcee, bunkruptee, fake-tan enthusiast and convicted felon Donald Trump has indicated he might decide to invade sovereign territory of Denmark.

Yes, the nation of LEGO, bacon, and Hans Christian Andersen may well be pitched against their ally the United States by its orange-hued President. Despite the fact that the U.S already has an F-35 Lightning II equipped airbase in Greenland, and that Denmark is an F-35 customer.

Of course America operates more than just the F-35, with over two hundred F-15E Strike Eagles like this one still in service. The example here is of the 391st ‘Bold Tigers’, and is wearing its Afghanistan deployment livery where it fought an extreme religious autocracy responsible for numerous human rights abuses, rather than a small European nation responsible for delicious pastries.

Anyway, there’s more to see of this splendid F-15E Strike Eagle courtesy of TLCB Master MOCer Ralph Savelsberg (aka Mad Physicist) at his Flickr album of the same name. Click the link above to take a look, and perhaps invade a longstanding ally.

Taking Out the Trash

The big news this week is that of a scumbag despot who has massively overreached his electoral mandate being seized and tried by a scumbag despot who has massively overreached his electoral mandate.

The result is that New York City now hosts a Venezuelan President in court facing charges of drug trafficking and terrorism, after previously convicting – on 34 counts – the man that has brought him there.

Which brings us seamlessly to today’s creation, this splendid 1978 Autocar DK Trashmaster garbage truck, for decades the default vehicle for tidying NYC’s streets.

Constructed by previous bloggee Sseven Bricks, this excellent recreation of New York’s most recognisable garbage truck captures its appearance brilliantly, and includes a working trash compactor alongside some wonderful visual attention to detail.

Sseven’s Flickr photostream hosts full details and imagery of the build, and you can take the trash to the curb in NYC (or a president, whether Venezuelan or American) via the link in the text above.

The Other Donald

The news is currently filled with the economic shenanigans of a certain orange President, including the sudden announcement that – from next week – the cost of all cars not made in the U.S (as well as lots that are) will rise significantly. Because said elderly Twitter addict doesn’t understand that it’s not the seller that pays a tariff, but the buyer…

Thus in today’s post we’re featuring a Donald that’s the antithesis of his POTUS namesake, being witty, wry, warm and charming. And probably more economically competent. Feathered cartoon humanoid Donald Duck is at the wheel of his 313 Belchfire Runabaout, wonderfully recreated in 6-wide Fabuland form by previous bloggee Sven J.

A removable roof and flip-out rumble seat both feature, and best of all Sven has released free building instructions for the design. So in contrast to Trump’s latest executive order, here’s a car you don’t have to pay extra for.

There’s more to see at both Flickr and the Eurobricks forum, and you can get quacking via the links above.

This is like, totally the best plane in the world. Just the best. Totally the best. Bigly.

“In fact it is so good you might think it was built by tiny little hands. So tiny. The inside allows me to fulfil my great and unmatched wisdom, with 24/7 access to Twitter, a machine that makes the best covfefe, the very best, and a bedroom with a golden shower. So very golden.” Donald Trump

Mini-figure Donald seems pretty pleased with his new wings, and so he should be; it measures 6ft long, has a 5½ foot wingspan, includes functioning landing gear, flaps, stairs, and complete interior and exterior lighting courtesy of Brickstuff.

BigPlanes of Flickr is the creator behind this astonishing build, and you can join the orange-in-a-toupee en-route to his next impeachment hearing via the link in the text above. Bigly.

Lego Steam Punk Space Rocket

With the news that reality-TV-host/Commander-in-Chief Donald Trump has decided that mining coal is more important than the literal continuation of the climate’s equilibrium, it’s getting tempting to do a Farnsworth, build a spaceship, and leave for a planet less stupid.

It appears as though the enterprising mini-figure pictured above has had the same idea, constructing as he has this magnificent steam punk space rocket, which is – in perfect irony – powered by coal…

Flickr’s Dwalin Forkbeard owns the mind behind this unique creation and there’s more to see at his photostream via the link above. Just please turn the lights out when you’re done. Even Fox News agree, and we never thought we’d type that…

Coming Up Trumps

Lego Murica-Mobile Truck

Flickr’s vehicle-building society LUNuts are very on-topic right now, with their current monthly building contest taking in all things dystopian.

Previous bloggee Lino Martins’ entry pays homage the bleak dystopian masterpiece ‘1984’, which contains absolutely no similarities with the current state of U.S politics.

Coincidentally, we’ll hand over to Lino to explain some of the features of his ‘Murica-mobile’; “The roof mounted loud speakers are so that the driver may broadcast alternate facts, and many people are saying that the gun rack and truck nuts are a classy touch. Many people. Believe me. And no one knows classy better than I do. Let’s make America great again. Bigly”.

No similarities whatsoever… See more courtesy of Lino’s photostream.

Lego MM1 Teracruzer Missile Carrier

Today is the inauguration of the 45th President of the United States of America, and here at The Lego Car Blog we’re commemorating this milestone event with something old, dangerous, and orange.

Built to scare the Soviets in the late 1950s this is a MM1 Teracruzer eight-wheel-drive missile carrier, complete with a Martin Mace nuclear missile, and despite its murderous (and completely futile) purpose, it’s a magnificent looking thing. It’s as if Thunderbirds were run by a maniacal doom-monger.

Anyhow, whilst we settle in for an afternoon of pointless pickering over the state of U.S. politics you can check out more of this absolutely brilliant mini-figure replica of the Teracruzer courtesy of Brian Williams of Flickr by clicking here, or alternatively you can watch something just as old, dangerous and orange at the inauguration ceremony…
