Itsa Me… Anti-Gravity Mario!

People have been lobbing green shells at one another for three decades, and the glorious carnage that is Mario Kart is just as appealing now as ever!

Mario Kart 8 was released in 2014, enabling Mario and his assortment of fellow racers to hover in ‘anti-gravity’ mode for the first time. And you could still lob green shells.

Cue Stephan Froden, who has recreated everyone’s favourite Italian plumber and his anti-gravity go-kart from nearly 23,000 LEGO bricks.

There are LED lights inside as well as motorised movements, and there’s more to see of Stephan’s wonderful homage to Mario Kart 8 at Ryan McNaught’s ‘Brickvention 2022’ album on Flickr, of which Stephan’s model and many other equally stupendous creations are part. Do it Yourself Mr. Bean

Perhaps Mr. Bean’s greatest moment, driving a Mini via string and a mop from a chair mounted on the roof, has featured a here few times in Lego from. None have used this many bricks though!

Certified LEGO Professional Ryan McNaught has used over five thousand pieces to recreate the iconic TV scene, with Bean’s Mini, new armchair, and the man himself all wonderfully captured in brick.

Ryan’s build is part of ‘Brickvention 22’, and a host of other models from the Lego Show – built by a variety of talented creators – join Mr. Bean’s Mini in Ryan’s ‘Brickvention 2022’ album.

Lego Sci-Fi Base

Being a car blog we’re regularly flummoxed by sci-fi builds, and even though today is no exception the whole TLCB office gasped in unison at this utterly incredible spacebase from TLCB debutant Marco den Besten. Based loosely on the designs from the Tiberian Sun video games, Marco’s enormous creation includes spacecraft, mechs, rovers, hangers, and a whole load of motorised movement. Part of a huge construction for the Legoworld Utrecht show there’s much more to see at Marco’s Flickr album. Click the link above to join the gasping.

Lego UN Mil Mi-26 Helicopter

This is the Mil Mi-26 heavy transport helicopter, the most powerful series production helicopter in the world. Built for the previously publicised ‘Brickman Awesome‘ show, Certified LEGO Professional Ryan McNaught (aka The Brickman) and his team spent 52 hours and 8,302 bricks in the construction of the Mi-26.

Completed in UN-livery, Ryan’s build includes opening clamshell cargo doors and a roller conveyer to enable cargo to be parachuted to the ground, meaning his recreation of the mighty Russian helicopter is depicted doing something that its real-world counterpart – being part of the most ineffectual organisation on earth – probably never will. Prove us wrong United Nations…

Lego Life-Size Harley Davidson 48

Certified LEGO Professional Ryan McNaught (aka TheBrickMan) is back, and with one hell of a ride! This is a 2018 Harley Davidson 48 motorcycle, and it’s life-size! Built in a perfect 1:1 scale Ryan’s build uses over 64,000 LEGO pieces and took a team of three builders over 200 hours to create.

The motorcycle is 100% LEGO aside from a metal frame inside to allow for easier transportation (meaning this model can be ridden!) and working lights front and rear, and is part of the Brickman Awesome Lego show that is touring Australia and New Zealand this year.

Amazing Lego Town

Henrik Hoexbroe’s amazing ‘ Kingstown, USA, 1959’

Today we’re pleased to bring you a MOC Special. One of our favourite Town builders, whose creations we’ve featured a few times here before, has pulled together all of his MOCs into one incredible Town-style layout. Set in 1959, Henrik Hoexbroe’s masterpiece includes some simply beautiful small-scale Americana, including Checker Taxis, Greyhound Buses, finned Cadillacs and countless other classic vehicles. Not only that, he’s set in them all in a living world of plastic, complete with diners, cinema, parks, a used car lot… there is is literally too much for us to pick out here.

The whole set-up was recently displayed at the HispaLUG Expo 2012 in Barcelona, and you can see the full gallery of pictures showing the complete scene in detail by visiting Henrik’s MOCpage at the link above.
