Beat It

‘Sports’ cars today have about a thousand horsepower and weigh sixteen tons. Except when they’re EVs, and then it’s double that. Which is why we love the Honda Beat.

Built to Japan’s kei-car regulations in the early ’90s, the Beat had only 660cc, 63bhp, and weighed in at just 760kgs. Which means your Mom could double the kerb-weight just by getting in. Not that she’d fit.

This neat Speed Champions Beat was found by one of our Elves on Flickr, coming from Ilya Muratov who has captured the ’90s kei icon wonderfully. Jump in via the link to Ilya’s Flickr album above. If you fit.

(It Doesn’t Matter if You’re) Black or White

Wise words from the King of Pop there. Eurobricks member martijnnab has used this excellent advice to great effect, building two versions of his gorgeous Technic Jaguar XK120 Roadster in contrasting colours.

Martijn’s Jaguars are inverse to the meaning behind Michael Jackson’s 1991 hit however, as whilst they look the same on the surface they are very different underneath, with the white XK featuring mechanical functions including a straight-6 engine and working steering whilst the black XK includes a fully remote controlled Power Functions drivetrain.

It Doesn’t Matter If You’re Black or White

Wise if slightly ironic words from the late King of Pop. Today’s two opposingly-hued Town creations show that even the trickiest of colours can be photographed beautifully.

Above is -derjoe-‘s wonderfully accurate Volkswagen Transporter, whilst below TLCB regular _Tiler is making another appearance, this time with a gorgeous classic Chevrolet Camaro.

Moon Walk

One of our favourite Classic Space builders returns to TLCB. Billyburg‘s Lunar Jeep is ready for a moon safari, and seeing how eclectic looking the patrons are we can only guess at the weirdness of the wildlife!
