Lego Space Octan Ant

The Lego Car Blog staff, more used to knowing pointless facts about obscure cars from 1993, are utterly bemused by sci-fi creations. Unfortunately for us our Elves quite like finding space creations, because it makes them feel like astronauts. So, here goes…

This is an Octan-themed space thingumy that looks a bit like an ant. Thus, we’ve called it the ‘OctAnt’, and we’re quite pleased with ourselves for that. It has a gun on the top and big ball thing on the back and you can see more courtesy of BobDeQuatre on Flickr.

Lego Technic Porsche 911 Carrera Cup

Today we have three brilliant cars to share with you, and all are products of the current LUGNuts Challenge ‘100 Ways to Win!’. The first is this, Thirdwigg‘s superb Technic recreation of the 1992 Porsche 911 Carrera Cup. Resplendent in Octan livery, which easily adds another 40bhp on it’s own, Thirdwigg’s Carrera features working suspension, steering, a functioning gearbox and the Porsche’s famous rear-mounted flat-6 engine. Lego Octan Tanker

This curious looking ‘Octan Spider Tanker’ was found on Flickr today. It’s been built by TLCB debutant BobDeQuatre to ‘move quickly on rough terrain to gather samples of liquid or deliver water or fuel’. Plus it reminds us of your Mom. Bricksky boat

Ever since they discovered this build by Tyler Sky on Flickr, the Elves have been splashing around in the TLCB Executive Jacuzzi, making engine noises. Inspired by his wife’s present of mini-figs and seagulls, Tyler has built a super-fast Octan catamaran. We can tell it’s fast, thanks to the brilliant, brick-built rooster tail which he has created. Enormous spaceships aren’t normally our bag, but this ace 120-stud Octan Space Supertanker by Flickr’s Lego Junkie reminded us too much of a certain penguin pollution catastrophe to pass up. If only they’d made it with 6001 hulls…

It was suggested to us by a reader and previous bloggee as the Elves, who are currently trying to look busy, missed it. Lego Ferrari 458 Italia GT3

Octan, LEGO’s fictional oil company since 1992, has seen a huge range of vehicles adorned with its livery over the years. From F1 cars to power boats, the list of sets and MOCs to include the iconic red and green colours is almost endless. None though, have looked as superb as this.

Built by TLCB’s current Master MOCers ‘LegoExotics’ (aka Sven B and Jens M) have recreated the mighty Ferrari 458 Italia GT3 race car in incredible detail. And then they’ve added the livery of the greatest fictional oil company ever. So right does their creation look that it would probably convince anyone outside of the Lego Community that it’s a copy of a genuinely sponsored racing car.

The result is that we have a new favourite car of the 2013, and LegoExotics are now perhaps the best active Model Team vehicle builders anywhere in the world.

He'd better have a good insurance policy.

Terrorists and freedom fighters blowing stuff up is sadly all too common on Earth and it seems the future residents of Mars are no better off. The RPG wielding fellow above is about to make the tanker driver’s day a whole lot more orange. Mark Stafford, a LEGO employee no less, is the artist behind this awesome action shot.
