Back in Black

Lego Blacktron APC

The crafty reprobates of Blacktron have been keeping a low profile for these past fifteen years. Once the most formidable group in the galaxy, Blacktron made a living from Space Evil, which is much like regular Evil, only in it occurs space. It seemed that by 1993 though, their number was up, and Blacktron mini-figures were subsequently only to be found in the cells of the Space Police.

However it seems not all of Blacktron’s members were caught, with some disappearing into the cosmic underground to plot a glorious return. Emboldened by the recent resurgence of other classic space civilisations, the dastardly mini-figures of Blackton have decided that now is the time to stage their comeback, and what a machine they’ve built to do it!

With six enormous wheels, a fully appointed ten-crew interior, a rotating gun turret, and – in true old-school LEGO space style – a smaller scout vehicle hidden within itself, the Blacktron B-59 armoured personnel carrier is ready to help the Blacktron empire rise once again!

Andreas Lattanzio aka Norton74 is the Space General (which is much like a regular General, only in space) behind Blacktron’s triumphant return and you can see more of what they’ve got planned at the link above. Your move Space Police…

Chalk Up Another Kill

Lego APC

This marvellous looking APC was discovered by one of our Elves on Flickr today and it comes from previous bloggee Stephan Niehoff. We’re not sure what’s got into the Elves at the moment but everything they’re finding is a bit weird. We’ll try to get back to cars soon, but in the meantime Stephan’s APC is one of the coolest looking vehicles we’ve blogged in ages, and the brilliant dirt realism is nothing more than chalk! No painted pieces or photoshop here. Check it out on Flickr via the link above.

We Got Nukes, We Got Knives, Sharp Sticks…

Lego Aliens APC

…and a dropship containing an M577 armoured personnel carrier. The Weyland-Yutani Corporation’s APC was one of the earliest casualties in the 1986 sci-fi horror Aliens, destroying its transaxle to escape alien attack. Still, everyone else got out OK didn’t they?…

Lego Aliens APC Remote Control Sariel

This stunning recreation of the M577 APC from the Aliens movie comes from Technic legend, previous bloggee, and ‘Become a Pro‘ interviewee Pawel ‘Sariel’ Kmiec.

Sariel’s incredible creation packs in all the firepower of the original movie vehicle, with a 360° rotating, fully retractable sliding rear turret, twin roof-mounted opening missile pods, a rotating and elevating front turret, an electrically sliding cabin door, all-wheel-drive and all-wheel-steering with pendular suspension, and full LED lighting.

All of that can be controlled remotely thanks to a third-party SBrick bluetooth system, allowing the half-a-metre long APC to be operated via a smartphone.

To truly see what Sariel’s spectacular creation can do we highly recommend taking a look at the brilliant video below, plus you can see all the images of the M577 APC via both Flickr and MOCpages.

And whilst you’re checking out the video and those links, we’re going to take the APC’s controls and put the fear of God into our Elven workforce…

A Soviet Smasher

btr-152

It’s been a fairly calm week at The Lego Car Blog Towers. You can therefore imagine our dismay, as we stumbled down the steps into our luxury penthouse editorial suite and found smushed Elves embedded in the Axminster. It could only mean one thing: the Elves had found a Technic Power Functions model.

This particular creation was discovered on MOCpages. It’s been built by Piotr K and features working 6×6 drive, suspension and gears. Weighing just over 2.5kg, it’s slightly lighter than the 1950s original.  Sadly that weight of bricks can smush even the largest of our workforce. Whilst we’re cleaning up, click this link to MOCpages to see more photos and a video of the machine in action.
