Little Old Lady

Lego Nissan Silvia

We close a period of much blogging with another build from a TLCB regular. Flickr’s Senator Chinchilla takes us back to a time when Japanese cars were cool, but also – in Nissan’s case at least – named after elderly British people – the S15 Silvia joining Nissan’s line-up alongside the Cedric, the Gloria and the Maureen*. You can see more of the Senator’s S15 by clicking here, whilst we slow things down a bit here in TLCB Towers.

*We might have made that last one up.

Lego Transformers G1

The ’80s theme continues here at The Lego Car Blog, and today it’s our own workforce of horrible little Elves that are the delighted beneficiaries.

Such is their well-documented love for all things Transformers-related that we were forced to instate a ‘No Transformers until you find a MOC’ policy, often reinforced by the use of the office air-horn.

Mr. Air-Horn is slumbering silently today though, because the Elves are downstairs happily watching the original 1980s Transformers ‘G1’ cartoon series. This rare demonstration of staff generosity is reward for today’s find; two superb G1 Transformers Nissan 300ZXs created by Alex Wong of MOCpages.

‘Smokescreen’ and ‘Bluestreak’ can both fit a mini-figure inside and they feature some of LEGO’s awesome retro printed pieces, but their real party-trick is – naturally – a very slick transformation. You can see how Alex has done it by visiting his MOCpage via the link above, whilst we join the Elves for a bit of cartoon watching…

Lego Datsun Roadster

We balance out today’s posts with something befitting the beautiful sunny weather we have outside TLCB office. This lovely little Model Team Datsun Roadster is the work of TLCB regular Senator Chinchilla, and it’s earned a very happy Elf a delicious yellow Smartie. See more of the diminutive Datsun on Flickr.

*You might think this is just another exceeding witty (yeah right!) TLCB title, however it is in fact the name given to the very first Nissan (Datsun) ever manufactured. Yes, it really is!

Godzilla!

Lego R34 Skyline

We haven’t watched the new Godzilla movie, due to an unfortunate incident with the Elves at our local cinema prohibiting our patronage, but this vehicular version makes us a feel a bit better. Nissan’s R34 Skyline is getting on a bit now, but the passage of time hasn’t diminished the Godzilla legend. Senator Chinchilla helps to keep the story going with this instantly recognisable Model Team recreation. See more at the link.

R34 Godzilla

Lego R34 Skyline

Probably the most lusted after car of the Playstation Generation, Nissan’s R34 Skyline became one of the most fearsome giant slayers ever built. And – being Japanese – it’s tuneable to produce truly epic power figures. Yakov Selutin makes his second appearance on TLCB this month with his spectacular Model Team recreation of the incredible ’90s legend. See all the photos, including close-ups of the superb engine and interior, at Yakov’s MOCpage here.

Lego Nissan GTR, Lego Car, Lego Audi R8

It’s time for some of your suggestions here at The Lego Car Blog. These three creations were brought to us in the Feedback page or in the comments during the last week. We can’t publish all of your suggestions (well we can, but some aren’t quiet good enough, have blurry photos, or aren’t vehicles at all) but we do consider each submission. Congratulations to (from left to right) Alexander Paschoaletto, Peteris Sprogis, and Joel Seow.

Fairlady Z

Lego Nissan 350Z FairladyJapanese rear-wheel-drive sports cars are cool. That’s a fact. So here’s a Nissan Fairlady Z / 350Z by 1saac W, which features some rather cunning techniques to recreate the famous shape. See more on Flickr.

Porsche Beater

Nissan GTP ZX Turbo

Nissan GTP ZX Turbo

We’ve featured a lot of Porsches here at The Lego Car Blog. They’re a popular choice for Lego builders, and why not? After all, they are the most successful sports car racing brand of all time. Occasionally though, another company comes along and displaces them from the top. Currently Audi are said manufacturer, but back in the late eighties it was Nissan, with their incredible ZX Turbo. bobalexander! has recreated the iconic race car with a bucketload of blue Lego. See the whole gallery on Flickr.

Datsun 510

Datsun 510

Before Nissan were famous for Skylines and GTRs, they made stuff like this; the wonderful Datsun 510. Infraredbrick has recreated the Japanese pocket rocket, and added a few modifications too. Click his name to find out what they are…

Featured TFOL: Cars Lover

Cars Lover

Automotive awesomeness by Cars Lover

When the great Firas Abu-Jaber admits a Lamborghini Gallardo is better than his own the TLCB Elves get still pointier ears than they already have. A 16-year old builder named Cars Lover, a German TFOL and newcomer on MOCpages, has built some awesome sports cars lately. As Firas puts it: “You have a GREAT future in building lego cars, so keep on that.”

So check out what Cars Lover has done so far on MOCpages.
