Tiny Transporter

We’ve been posting MOCs towards the larger end of the spectrum recently, so today it’s time for something a bit smaller…

This tiny white transporter is a stretched Volkswagen T1 ‘Renntransporter’, as used by the Rennstall Bunker Porsche Team in the 1960s. Nils O is the creator, and you can see more of his mini-masterpieces on MOCpages.

Porsche Deliveries

Porsche Racing Transporter

Insert (literally) Porsche racing cars for twice the awesome!

Malte Dorowski is back, and this time it’s not with a Porsche! Well, sort of. This beautiful race car hauler is a Ford C Type, as used by the Martini Porsche Racing team. Malte has already built the team’s racing cars (along with almost every other Porsche), and they fit snugly in the back via a fully working motorized lift. Continue reading →

Metaphor MOC

Lego Mercedes Truck

Ooh, self depreciating humor!

Where are all the cars you ask? Well, the Elves were locked away you see, and all we’ve managed to find over the holidays are truc… oh, you mean in the picture…

Ralph Savelsberg aka Mad Physicist on Flickr raises a question over the validity of our blog title with his suspiciously empty but rather brilliant Mercedes Actros car transporter. See the full gallery at Ralph’s Flickr photstream.

Lego cars

That’s better, cars everywhere! Points for those who can identify all eight.

Transporter Of Delight

Image

With apologies for the preponderance of trucks in recent posts (there’ll be a car soon, I promise!), I’m afraid I just couldn’t resist this. The elf who brought it was completely resistable, mind…

It’s a 1953 Alfa Romeo race transporter, with body by Bartoletti. What’s really impressive about this beauty is the substance within – proper Technic supercar stuff like suspension on all wheels, steering, engine and all that jazz. It’s not often truck builders go to all that trouble. Thomas Graafland is the one who did.

Quick question: It is an Alfa, and therefore absolutely lovely; but what’ll pick it up when it breaks down?

Gold Leaf Team Lotus Transporter

Spot the teeney Colin Chapman and win a prize!*

This multitude of microscale motors comes from MortalSwordsman on MOCpages. Becoming a regular here with his beautiful racing-themed creations, his latest work is a tiny set of Lotus 49s, complete with their 1960’s transporter and crew. All four vehicles are built in the original Gold Leaf cigarettes livery, whilst the figures are clothed in tiny period attire. View the full set of pictures on MOCpages.

Martini Racing

Martini Racing, ’70s style

We’ve featured a few of Malte Dorowski’s astonishing racing cars before on The Lego Car Blog, and this time he’s completed the set by beautifully photographing his Martini Racing Team VW Parts Van alongside one of his Porsche racing cars. Part of a Classic Racing group, you can view the full gallery on MOCpages.

Carry on Camping

Henrik Hoexbroe is well known on MOCpages for his excellent medium scale cars and street scenes. His VW T1 “Bulli” camper (inspired by Richard Brown’s Volkswagon Kombi ) is packed with details inside and out – every thing you need for the perfect camping holiday, except for the hotel and en suite 😉

Group of the Month – Classic Race Teams

Group of the Month – Classic Race Teams

Welcome to our new feature – Group of the Month. The Lego Car Blog Elves will endeavour to trawl the whole of the Interweb to discover new and exciting Lego groups for you enjoy.

Here in the Legoboratory we have noticed a lot of commotion on MOCpages recently, and in particular a small but incredibly active group of car builders.  If you love Lego and motorsport then you will love this group – Classic Race Teams.

We have featured several creations from this group already so we decided to have a closer look. It appears that the Mocpages car building community is trying to recreate classic race teams from the golden era of racing 1950s to 1970s. Cars, transporters and even support vehicles are all being reproduced with incredible attention to detail.

Sometimes it only takes one builder to inspire a whole bunch of other builders to recreate similar MOCs. As far as we can tell Ape Fight has done just that with his fantastic Fiat 682/RN2 Carrozzeria Bartoletti; Scuderia Ferrari Race Transporter. Not the snappiest title but what a MOC it is. Every detail has been wonderfully recreated and it even includes four (yes I said four) XL motors to power this 4.5 Kg beauty.

We will try and find more exciting groups for you to feast on but for the time being this one should offer hours of nourishment. Enjoy!

2 for 1

Scania T114
Shampoo and Conditioner, Suit Jacket and Trousers, Scania T114 and Liebherr 904

Dennis Bosman caught the Elves’ attention with this brilliant 2 for 1 deal on Flickr (3 if you include the trailer, which is a fantastic MOC in its own right).

What’s big and red and takes four at once?

Mercedes 0137 Renntransporter

Porsche Removals

Following Malte Dorowski’s amazing Porsche 917 from an earlier blog (see below), DeTomaso Pantera has built this huge Mercedes-Benz Renntransporter in which to house it. And when we say huge, we mean 105 studs long huge. Malte would need to build another three 917s to fill it. Check it out on MOCpages or Flickr.
