Bluesome Twosome

Lego Scania DAF Trucks

What’s better than one brilliant heavy haulage truck? Two of course. Nanko Klein Paste has obliged with this pair of stunning classic Sarens tractor units. Both are exquisitely detailed and you can see more of each by clicking on these magic words.

KrAZy!

Lego KrAZ 255B Trucks

MOCpages’ Ingmar Spijkhoven, a veteran of The Lego Car Blog, is back, with not one but three incredible remote controlled KrAZ 255B trucks. In fact there are nine models, once all the possible combinations of tractor and payload are included.

Powered by an XL motor each, with 6×6 drive, a working V8 engine, servo steering and solid axle suspension on all wheels, Ingmar’s KrAZ trucks are an engineering triumph.

Lego KrAZ Truck Trial

Ingmar has designed three versions of the KrAZ 255B; flatbed, truck-trial (above) and logging (below). All are available to view on MOCpages, where full technical details can also be found, along with an extensive gallery of the features of each truck and payload combination. An Orange Moggy

U MOG 01

The Elves love finding models of Mercedes-Benz’s ubiquitous Unimog. Firstly, the models are usually packed with working features. Damian Z.’s has a very nice Hiab crane mounted behind its cab. Secondly, the models are often built in orange, meaning that the lucky finder is rewarded with an orange Smartie, which are the best sort. Click on this link to Damian’s album on Flickr to see more details, including the neatly attached air intake pipe.

Good Things Come in Small Packages

Lego RC Rally Truck

This little 6-wide mini-figure scale rally truck by Flickr’s Big Boy may well have featured here at TLCB on looks alone, but it’s got a lot more going underneath than you might realise. Squeezed inside the diminutive dimensions is a full remote control drivetrain, plus working lights too. You can see more of this miracle of packaging, and watch a video of it in action, at the link in the text above.

The Power of Functions

Lego Technic RC Tow Truck

In the right hands LEGO’s Power Functions system can do some truly amazing things, and Eurobricks’ builder D3K definitely has the right hands. This is his beautiful 4-axle tow truck, and it features a vast array of Power Functions components and gearboxes to multiply the ability of the motors. Concentrate, here comes the science part;

D3K has engineered a remotely controlled linear actuator operated tilting cabin, front, middle and rear stabilisers, working front winch, wheel lift elevation, extension and tilting, and crane lifting, extending and winch. And he’s thrown in some old fashioned mechanical functions too, including a working V8 engine and three-axel Ackerman steering.

You can read the full details of D3K’s incredible creation at the Eurobricks forum where there also renders available showing the truck’s internal workings. To get a true idea of what this model can do though, you’ve got to watch in in action…

White Elephant

Lego Mercedes-Benz Actros Truck

This enormous Technic-figure scale Mercedes-Benz Actros 8×4 heavy haulage truck was discovered on MOCpages and Eurobricks. It’s been built by Shineyu Yu and it features a host of Technic functions including RC drive and steering. There’s more to see via the link above, and you can check out our preview of LEGO’s official 2015 Mercedes-Benz truck set by clicking here.

Beige & Brown ‘Benz

Lego Mercedes-Benz Truck

You wait ages for a creamy-beige truck to come along and then two arrive at once…

That’s not true – no-one’s ever waited for a beige truck. But like yesterday‘s find, this 1970s Mercedes-Benz refrigerated box-truck with three-axle trailer looks superb in its unusual colour scheme. Previous bloggee Thietmaier is the builder and you can see more on Flickr.

Koffee & Kream Kenworth

Lego Kenworth w(00 Truck

This unusually coloured Kenworth W900 was discovered by one of our Elves on Brickshelf. It comes from ‘Grazi’ and it is quite spectacularly detailed, including the engine bay and sleeper compartment. See all the images at the link above.

Doof

Lego Mad Max Doof Wagon

The proliferation of vehicles from the Mad Max – Fury Road movie has slowed in recent weeks, but Flickr’s Matt De Lanoy has awakened the theme with a bang today. You can see more of his brilliant mini-figure recreation of the Doof Wagon at the link above.

Truckin’

Lego Volvo Truck

It’s been over two years since Flickr’s Jakeof has appeared here at TLCB, but we correct that today with his superb Volvo hopper lorry. His latest creation is one of the most intricate and accurate small scale trucks we’ve seen in, well… over two years probably, and there’s lots more to see at Jakeof’s photostream.

Zoooosh!

Lego Classic Space Vehicle

‘Swooshing’ is an activity usually used for the imagined flight of model spaceships. Its land-based counterpart, the ‘zoom’, is typically reserved for models with wheels. Not that TLCB Team waste hours in the office testing these attributes of the Elves’ finds…

Anyway, this marvellous creation from Flickr’s Chris Perron seems to transcend the usual neat categorisation of propelling a Lego model by hand, appearing to be both ‘Swooshy’ and ‘Zoomy’ at the same time.

So Zooshy? Or Swoomy? Either way, Chris’ ‘LL26 Seeker’ is a wonderfully playable bit of kit, and you can Swoom or Zoosh your way over to Flickr to see more.

Technic Tipper

Lego Technic Tipper Truck

This superbly neat Technic tipper truck comes from past bloggee Krzysztof Cytacki of Flickr. This truck actually appeared here a while back in a previous incarnation, and his latest version adds a linear actuated tipping bed and Power Functions motors for remote control. There’s lots more to see on Flickr – click the link above to see the full gallery.

Chequer Plate

Lego Sci-Fi Space Survey Truck

Chequers in Lego always seem to look the business. And never more so than when in space. We’re not sure why this is, but we don’t make the rules. The Elves found two spacey creations employing chequers this week, and both look, well – the business.

Shannon Sproule‘s survey truck (above) and David Roberts‘ GARC race team (below) both tread the black and yellow chequer plate route and you can see more of both wonderfully inventive creations on Flickr at the links above.

Polish Colour Television – Picture Special

Lego Jelcz / Mielec / WZT WR-0043 (1971)

This is one of the more unusual vehicles to appear here at TLCB this year, but it’s one of our absolute favourites!

This gorgeous 1971 Jelcz Mielec television truck has been constructed by TLCB regular Karwik.  At 9 studs wide it’s one of the largest mini-figure scale vehicles we’ve featured here, and it’s also one of the most intricate.

Lego TV Truck Jelcz / Mielec / WZT WR-0043

Every detail of the real truck – which you can find online by searching for ‘Jelcz Mielec’ – has been captured beautifully (unlike a 1970s Polish TV camera) and the build has been completed with the addition of some brilliant custom decals and professionally chromed pieces by Chrome Block City.

We highly recommend viewing Karwik’s excellent gallery on Flickr – click the link above to switch channels.

Smokey and the Bandit

Lego Kenworth 900-A Snowman

This gorgeous Model Team recreation of the famous 1975 Kenworth 900-A from the cult classic ‘Smokey and the Bandit’ has been built by the recently returned Chris Melby. Chris is working on the trailer too, so expect more in the coming weeks. There’s more to see of the superb tractor unit at Chris’ photostream on Flickr – click the link above to get Eastbound and Down.
