Beige & Brown ‘Benz

Lego Mercedes-Benz Truck

You wait ages for a creamy-beige truck to come along and then two arrive at once…

That’s not true – no-one’s ever waited for a beige truck. But like yesterday‘s find, this 1970s Mercedes-Benz refrigerated box-truck with three-axle trailer looks superb in its unusual colour scheme. Previous bloggee Thietmaier is the builder and you can see more on Flickr.

Toretto

Lego Fast and Furious Dodge Charger

Dominic Toretto had the coolest ride of all the Fast and Furious characters. As long as there were no corners a 1970 Dodge Charger R/T, fitted with huge supercharger, will outrun almost anything. Flickr’s -derjoe- has recreated the iconic car beautifully in miniature. His Town scale version of the R/T was suggested by a reader and you can see the full image via the link above.

Lego Porsche 917K Le Mans

The 24 Heures de Mans has finally been won by someone other than Audi. Porsche, in their second Le Mans since returning last year, claimed an amazing outright victory in 2015. Of course, Audi still kind of won as the two brands are effectively the same company – following VW’s recent take-over to continue their plans for world domination – but it was nice nevertheless.

Back when Porsche were an independent auto-maker though, they were even more successful, largely thanks to this – the awesome 917. This particular car, raced by Martini Racing and driven by Helmut Marko and Gijs Van Lennep, won Le Mans outright in 1971.

The Lego recreation shown here is the work of prolific race-car builder Greg 998, and it includes a wonderfully detailed chassis, cockpit and engine, as well as the brilliant custom-decalled exterior pictured above. You can see more of the 917 and Greg’s other racing cars on MOCpages at the link above.

Smokey and the Bandit II

Lego Smokey and the Bandit Pontiac Trans-Am

Chris Melby’s huge 1975 Kenworth 900 A truck from the cult film ‘Smokey and the Bandit’ featured here at TLCB earlier in the month, and he’s now completed the second star vehicle from the movie; the Bandit’s 1977 Pontiac Firebird Trans-Am.

Chris’ Model Team replica of the famous American muscle car uses some ingenious building techniques throughout, not least the glass, wheel-arches, front air-dam and side sills. There’s lots more to see on Flickr – click the link above to join the journey.

My Fairlady

Lego Datsun Fairlady Z

This gorgeous Datsun Fairlady / 240Z was discovered by one of our Elves on Flickr. It’s the work of Cagerrin and we love absolutely everything about it. There’s a whole host of images available to view on Flickr – click the link above to see more.

Lego Classic Muscle Cars Ford Mustang Dodge Challenger Plymouth 'Barrauda

This impressive trio of classic American muscle cars comes from MOCpages’ Heiko Rüütel. From left to right; ’65 Ford Mustang, ’71 Plymouth ‘Cuda and ’70 Dodge Challenger R/T. There’s more to see of each at Heiko’s MOCpages account – click the link above to check them out.

Polish Colour Television – Picture Special

Lego Jelcz / Mielec / WZT WR-0043 (1971)

This is one of the more unusual vehicles to appear here at TLCB this year, but it’s one of our absolute favourites!

This gorgeous 1971 Jelcz Mielec television truck has been constructed by TLCB regular Karwik.  At 9 studs wide it’s one of the largest mini-figure scale vehicles we’ve featured here, and it’s also one of the most intricate.

Lego TV Truck Jelcz / Mielec / WZT WR-0043

Every detail of the real truck – which you can find online by searching for ‘Jelcz Mielec’ – has been captured beautifully (unlike a 1970s Polish TV camera) and the build has been completed with the addition of some brilliant custom decals and professionally chromed pieces by Chrome Block City.

We highly recommend viewing Karwik’s excellent gallery on Flickr – click the link above to switch channels.

Lego Kenworth 900-A Snowman

This gorgeous Model Team recreation of the famous 1975 Kenworth 900-A from the cult classic ‘Smokey and the Bandit’ has been built by the recently returned Chris Melby. Chris is working on the trailer too, so expect more in the coming weeks. There’s more to see of the superb tractor unit at Chris’ photostream on Flickr – click the link above to get Eastbound and Down.

Gran Torino

Lego Gran Torino

Screen legend Clint Eastwood both starred in and directed 2008’s brilliant ‘Gran Torino’, but even he was second on the billing to the real star. Patrick L has recreated the iconic Ford Torino, resplendent in the movie car’s paint scheme – in wonderful detail. There’s more to see on both Flickr and MOCpages – click the links to make the trip.

Outlawz

Lego Outlaw Datsun 240Z

The Elves are little grumpy today as this find comes from one of you. Suggested via the Feedback page is previous bloggee piratecox‘s mean-looking ‘Outlaw’ Datsin 240Z. Complete with a roll-cage, big rims, flared arches and a front mounted intercooler(?) it’s been built and photographed superbly, and you can see more at the link above.

240 Winks

Lego Datsun 240Z

This lovely Datsun 240Z was discovered by one of our Elves on Flickr. TLCB regular Senator Chinchilla is the builder and you can see more of his classic Japanese sports car here.

‘It’s Got a Cop Motor…’

Lego Dodge Monaco Blues Brothers

It’s been a while since we featured one of your suggestions; this one was discovered by one of our readers on the Lego Ideas creation sharing platform. It’s a recreation of the 1976 Dodge Monaco from the 1980 film ‘Blues Brothers’ by newcomer eini1971, and you can see more at the link.

Godzilla’s Grandad

Lego Nissan Skyline 2000 GT-R

Nissan’s current GT-R (previously called the ‘Skyline’) is a seriously impressive supercar killer. But we don’t particularly desire it. We’d like to have a go, sure – but to own… it’s just a bit… dull.

Not so the original Skyline 2000, which we want so much that it hurts. Even more so if it’s like this one. Davanchi M has retro-fitted his gorgeous retro Skyline with an RB26DET twin-turbo straight-six engine from a late ’90s Skyline GT-R, meaning it would go as good as it looks. Which is to say, very well indeed.

Davanchi has uploaded a full gallery of images to both MOCpages and Flickr – click the links to spool up your turbos.

The Last Law in a World Gone Out of Control…

Lego Mad Max Ford Falcon Interceptor

…Pray that he’s out there somewhere.

Mad Max Fury Road is currently setting movie screens alight, but it all began way back in 1979. Ralph Savelsberg has added the Ford Falcon Interceptor from the film that started it all to his movie cars catalogue. There’s more to see on Flickr – click the link above and Get Mad.

Convoy Picture Special

Lego Mack Truck Convoy

A few weeks ago one of our Elves discovered a creation on Brickshelf built in a style we thought we recognised. After posting the model here the builder got in touch to confirm they were indeed who we thought they were, and that they had returned. Chris Melby might have been away for while, but he’s back with bang!

Lego Rubber Duck Convoy Truck

Chris then sent us images of his finished Mack RL700L truck ‘Rubber Duck’ from the movie Convoy, and it’s these that we can exclusively share with you today. Measuring over 50 inches long and containing over 8,500 bricks, Chris’ Mack with tanker trailer is one the largest trucks of the year so far.

You can see all the imagery, and read the details of the RL700L ‘Rubber Duck’ build, by visiting Chris’ excellent new website zmasterbrick.com. Many thanks to Chris for providing us with the photos for this publication.
