Warhammer 40K

Lego Warhammer 40,000A Warhammer 40,000 Special today, with two builders and seven creations. Above is the imposing looking Imperial Guard from Lego Admiral, whilst below is a Furioso Dreadnaught by the supremely talented bruceywan. You can see more from both builders on Flickr.

Tow Tank

M32B1 RecoveryNow this is a tow truck! Based on the Sherman Tank, the M32B1 Recovery vehicle was the perfect tool for rescuing unreliable World War 2 hardware. This brilliant replica is the work of =DoNe=, and you can see more on Flickr.

Sci-Fi Special!

Lego Sci-FiYou lot have been busy. We’ve had so many Elves trooping back to the office holding spaceships, mechs and battle tanks that we’ve got a back-log to clear. So here it is, a Sci-Fi Special with no less than six creations featured!

Row 1; from left to right: Maedhros1980’s Survey Ship, NHI’s MHS Mech, and Shannon Ocean’s R-Type Starfighter.

Row 2; from left to right: Nathanael Kuipers’ M.B.A. Mech, pasukaru76’s Duel Tangent Fighter, and finally, NatNeto’s Galaxy Patrol Heavy APC.

SPAAG

Lego ZSU-23-4V1This mean looking device, built by D-Town Cracka on Flickr, is a Self Propelled Anti-Aircraft Gun, or SPAAG for short. This one is a ZSU-23-4V1 made by the Soviets from 1962, and used in a variety of conflicts since.

Due to its light armour the ZSU-23 was vulnerable to anti-tank and machine guns, and as such was usually placed well behind the front line. However, it was very good at shooting things that weren’t strictly aircraft, and thus it was often deployed to urban environments in places like Syria.

News today from the region indicates further massacres of the Syrian people by their own Government. With Syrians fleeing their homes into Turkey, Iraq and other neighbouring countries the refugee crisis is growing daily. Find out more about the crisis, and what you can do to help, via the UN Refugee Agency.

Lego Panzer Tank

Time to post two of your suggestions, both of which were via our Feedback and Submission Suggestions page (see, we do read them!). The first is this lovely Panzer VI Tank by stefano monti on MOCpages, suggested by a good samaritan. The second is this neat little classic sports car by Chris Elliott on Flickr, suggested by, er… Chris Elliott.

K2 Black Panther Tank

Ready for the DMZ

Sariel is back with a bang! This is his latest project, a ridiculously complicated – and brilliant – replica of the most advanced tank in the world; the South Korean K2 Black Panther. Costing $8.5 million each, making it the most expensive tank in the world, the K2 features lazer lock-on weapons, 55 calibre smoothbore gun and an incredible In-Arm Suspension design which allows the tank to sit, stand or kneel depending upon the terrain.

Sariel has recreated it all (apart from the lazer lock-on, although he’ll probably manage that soon) and details the build fully at his blog, sariel.pl.

K2 Black Panther Lego Tank

Sariel’s K2 Black Panther in Lego

Sadly the situation in the Korean Peninsula is looking increasingly unstable, as the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea, who looked on the verge of softening their stance, seem to have returned to their isolated and antagonistic state of mind*. With nuclear weapons on one side of the DMZ, and K2 Black Panthers on the other, we’re just pleased The Lego Car Blog office is a long, long way from it all.

To see the full gallery of Sariel’s K2, visit his blog at the link above, or see the tank in action on YouTube here.

Lego Space Crane

Lunar Lifter

FebRovery 2013 is almost over, and there have been some delightfully inventive space-related vehicles entered (use our ‘search’ function at the bottom of the page to see those that we’ve featured here on TLCB). So, as a Grand Finale of sorts, here’s drdesignz’ rather large Space Crane. You know, a crane, but in space. See more of the Dr.’s work on either Flickr or MOCpages, and until next year, keep rovin’.

Lego Blacktron

That’s not what I ordered!

Peter deYeaule rumbles onto the scene in his Blacktron Light Tank, or BLT for short. It reminds us of Sir Killalot from Robot Wars (whatever happened to that show?). You can see more on MOCpages at the link.

Leichter Panzerspähwagen

Captain Eugene’s Leichter Panzerspähwagen SD KFZ 222

The Leichter Panzerspähwagen (Light Armoured Reconnaissance Vehicle) was widely used by the German military throughout World War II. This particular example, built by Captain Eugene, is a SD KFZ 222 in North African specification. Built by Auto Union (which would later become Audi) the SD KFZ featured a 3.5 liter Horch V8, MG34 machine gun, 2cm Kwk cannon, and it could even be fitted with a 28mm anti-tank cannon. To see more of this historic vehicle, visit Captain Eugene’s Flickr page.

T-34/85 Tank

[Maks] Russian T-34/85 Tank

[Maks] is back with another tank, this time a Russian WWII era T-34. As with much Russian hardware, this was sold to a variety of regimes and used around the world long after the Russians were done with it. Yay for the arms-trade. Here we see the tank in Vietnam War spec.

Russian Arms

Surface to Air Missle Launcher

SA-4 / 2K11 Krug Surface-to-Air Missile Launcher

And now for a more serious post. This incredible MOC is a Cold War era Russian 2K11 Krug Surface-to-Air missile launcher, built by D-Town Cracka on Flickr. We’ll let you form your own opinion on its brilliance and instead use this space to highlight the current plight of Syrian Refugees, fleeing to the Turkish border from the brutal crackdown of a tyrant.

The stories from the refugee camps in Iraq and Turkey include tales of brutality, shootings and land mines, and from our own press, the news that Syria is using its Russian-supplied arms against a Turkish border that’s providing shelter for over 30,000 refugees, including the shooting of a Turkish F4 Phantom by a Russian Surface-to-Air missile system.

Legorobo's mecha

Mech / Tank / Robot / Vacuum Cleaner

The Elves were very excited when they found this by Legorobo on Flickr the other day. Much like Mahjqa’s Tachikoma featured earlier in the year, it’s a rolling-legged gun carrier that we’re insufficiently versed in Sci-Fi to describe properly. But like the excitable Lego Car Blog Elves, we love it for the video…

Ghost in the shell

They see me rollin'

Mahjqa is back, with perhaps his best creation yet. ‘Tachikoma’ drives, walks, swivels and does many other things our vocabulary is insufficiently broad to describe.

The only way to really understand it is to see it in action. Luckily Mahjqa is a brilliant video editor as well as Technic builder…

To the Mall!

Just the thing for picking up some new shoes, or crushing the car of a sexist blogger, Mahjqa has built a tank for girls. Check it out on Flickr.

RC Chaos Tank

The Elves appear to be in a bit of a fighty mood, what the with the last two posts being fairly gun-themed. Probably time to take their liquor away. Anyway, enough about our militant workforce, Mattia Di Maio has built this remote control Chaos Tank, complete with rotating turret and machine gun. Check out the video and details on MOCpages.
