Lego 4x4 Truck

This blogger stepped onto something soft and a little crunchy in the TLCB office today. An inspection revealed it as an Elf thoroughly smushed into the carpet. Hmm.

A glance up the corridor revealed several more flattened Elves, some in comical cartoon running-away poses, and the sound of a distant maniacal laugh.

One weary trudge later and the source was discovered; a monstrous remote control pick-up truck being controlled by a jubilant – and typically violent – Elf, that was intent on running down any of its colleagues with which it had a grievance. With our Elves, this meant all of them.

With the controls removed and placed under our… er, control, we could take a closer look at the vehicular weapon. Built by Lucio Switch, it’s quite an epic creation. Powered by two XL motors, Lucio’s Technic 4×4 Pick-Up features full RC drive, a supercharged V8 up front, fully independent suspension with three differentials, plus opening gull wing doors and hood.

Lego Car Transporter

Discovered by both a very excited TLCB Elf* and a TLCB Reader, today we’re bringing you seven models in one! TLCB favourite (and previous Master MOCer) Nick Barrett has beautifully reconstructed six cars that he’s previously owned, plus a truck on which to transport them.

The truck steers and the trailer has a realistic mechanism to allow the cars to drive on, but really it’s all about that payload. See if you can identify all six of Nick’s eclectic cars before visiting MOCpages or Flickr to find out if you’re right!

Lego Construction Vehicles

We continue our run of Town vehicles here at TLCB with two more mini-figure delights. Suggested to us by a reader, Brickshelf’s keko007 has built a pair of superb construction vehicles. Both his MAN cement truck and Volvo L60 front loader feature a few working functions too, making them nicely playable creations. You can see more of these and keko’s other models via the link above.

Lego Tank Truck

This off-road tank transporting truck was suggested to us via the Feedback and Submission Suggestions page, and it’s the work of Hajdekr on Flickr. Whilst we’re not sure a roll-on/off system could lift something like a tank in the real world, Hajdekr’s model very neatly combines both System and Technic parts to make it work. Green Truck

Like magpies, the Elves are attracted to pretty, shiny things. This lovely little truck by South Korean builder bigcrown85 was an instant success with them. It features a neatly detailed body, with some novel parts usage such as the steps and the hammers to which the mirrors are attached. Fortunately the hammers are minifig scale. This allowed only slight damage to be inflicted in the ensuing Elf-fight over the green Smartie that the finder was rewarded with.

The truck’s wheels are very delicate and we suspect the application of a bit of “Kragle” to achieve this. However, we’re not too purist at TLCB* and so we’re happy to feature this neat build. Click this link to Flickr to see details of the chassis and the alternative van version.

Lego MAN TGS Tow Truck

This beautiful MAN 8×4 tow truck is the work of Flickr and Brickshelf‘s Marek Markiewicz (aka M-Longer), and it’s one of the finest looking Model Team trucks of the year. But its beauty is much more than skin deep. Within the wonderfully replicated bodywork sits one of the most advanced Technic systems we’ve seen to date.

Thirteen separate functions are generated by a variety of Power Functions motors and Technic pneumatics, which are all remotely controlled through LEGO’s infrared receivers. These include drive, steering, working stabilisers, raising and extending the boom and under-lift, four separate winches, plus an electrically driven pneumatic compressor with auto shut-off.

The only way to do this incredible engineering feat justice is through a video, and fortunately Mr. Markiewicz has created just that. Watch below, be amazed.

Lego Technic 42024 Alternative

LEGO’s 42024 Technic Container Truck set received a fairly average review from our experts earlier in the year. Plenty of scope for improvement then. One builder to give improving the model a go is TLCB debutant Henry Quarmby, who has repurposed the pieces found within the official set for his excellent truck and trailer combo.

Featuring working steering, a linear-actuator operated load bed, a working crane, plus a tilting cab with opening doors, Henry’s 42024 alternative has play value galore. The trailer doesn’t miss out either, with a folding jockey wheel and an opening cover.

Lego Technic Madoca1977 Truck

This spectacular Technic pick-up truck is the work of previous bloggee Madoca1977, and unusually for a TLCB post we can’t tell you much about it. That’s because Madoca has so far released only a single teaser image without accompanying details, but his latest creation looks so damn cool we couldn’t wait to post it.

Madoca will release details and further images of the Ford-esque pick-up truck (or is it a Toyota HiLux?) in due course, but until then you can see more of the image above by visiting his Google Plus account here. There might only be one picture, but it’s our favourite truck of the year!

Tint Fire Engine

It’s red and blue Smarties all round for the Elves at The Lego Car Blog today, as they’ve returned from MOCpages with a pair of little trucks. First up is a micro fire engine from Taiwanese builder Chung-Po Cheng, whose bin lorry we featured a couple of days ago. You can click this link to MOCpages to see more of the details that have been squeezed into this truck.

Second is Tommaso Garosi’s Unimog. Christmas is coming (there have been decorations in the shops for weeks now) and Tommaso’s crew are busy loading trees onto their truck. Underneath this classic 4×4 are prop-shafts and difs, which you can see by clicking this link to MOCpages. Lego City Garbage Truck

Refuse Collectors are surly the unsung heroes of the modern world. Removing the vast quantities of detritus created by our wasteful and consumerist society, without them we’d be neck deep in trash within a week.

Lego Tatra T148 Truck Trial

HorcikDesigns‘ likes to get his Lego dirty. Truck Trial is his chosen method, and the Tatra T148 is his chosen vehicle. Featuring two Lego Buggy Motors for drive, a Power Functions M Motor for steering, and fully independent half-axel suspension Horcik’s recreation of the famous off-road truck is perfectly equipped to tackle the rough stuff. Lego GINAF Truck

How many The Lego Car Blog Elves can you fit in the back of a Lego truck? We’re a bit drunk tonight so we’re going to find out with some ‘volunteers’ and Arian Janssens‘ GINAF 10×8 dump truck. For those outside the Netherlands – us included – GINAF are sort of re-badged DAF trucks. No, we’re not sure why either. Anyway, you can see more of this one via the link to Flickr above whilst we squash some Elves.

Lego Scania Topline Truck

This enormous black truck was unearthed by one of our Elves on Brickshelf. Built by Havoc it’s a Scania Topline and it features some simply incredible detailing. Havoc’s enabled this by building big; those wheels are from the official (and huge) LEGO Technic 8110 Unimog set. The full Brickshelf gallery is well worth your time – check it out via the link above.

We’ve got a lot of red Smarties to give out today…

Lego Technic Truck Trial Tatra 813

The Elves, upon the recent discovery that red Smarties are made from crushed beetles, have gone on a bonanza of frenzied online treasure-hunting not seen since those pictures of Jennifer Lawrence were leaked. As a result we have no less than five(!) red creations to show you, from five disgusting and delighted Elves.

At No.5 is this stupendous remote control Technic Tatra 813 trial truck by Eurobricks’ Madoca 1977. It features 8-wheel-drive via two Power Functions XL motors, RC steering, LED lights, a V12 piston engine, and the obligatory-for-truck-trial awesome suspension. You can see more details of this incredible machine at the Eurobricks forum linked above.

At the other end of the scale, and our red No.4, is this classically-built 1977 Ford LTD. Newcomer FirstInfantry is the builder, and you can see more of his 6-wide classic, and his other beautifully simple vehicles, on Flickr.

Lego Pilatus PC-7 Aircraft

In at No.3 we have this lovely little Pilatus PC-7 plane created by one of our favourite aircraft builders; Flickr’s Dornbi. Bedecked in pretty Swiss colours Dornbi’s Pilatus has one of the nicest brick-built canopies we’ve seen. See more of his work via the link above.

Lego SHIPtember GARC Spacecraft

For No.2 we head into space. And also into the weird world of SHIPtember. And GARC. And probably some other Lego memes we know little-to-nothing about. Anyway, despite our sci-fi ineptitude, this one-hundred-and-fifteen-stud-long behemoth still looks pretty cool to us. The red giant is entitled ‘Sphyraena’ (we’re glad we’ve just had to type that rather than pronouncing it) and it can be found on F@bz Flickr photostream here.

And finally at No.1 we have this; Lucio Switch aka Ivan Manarin‘s beautiful pneumatic and remote controlled Technic truck. One of the most superbly photographed models of the year, Ivan’s masterclass in Technic features four XL motors for drive, a servo for steering, a M motor for the air suspension pump, another for the fifth wheel, two sets of IR receivers and three Power Functions battery packs. Oh, and eight(!) pneumatic cylinders, plus three valves and two pumps. Have a guess how many shock absorbers each front wheel needs to deal with that lot. Now triple it. It’s the Technic truck of the year.
