A Noun & A Verb

Ram (noun); a male sheep.
Ram (verb); to forcefully push something.

Although the latter may well be derive from the former (see here. And here. And definitely here). Anyway, today we have both forms of the word, thanks to Teo LEGO Technic‘s RAM 1500 pick-up, and – more irritatingly – the Elf that found it.

Powered by a BuWizz and two Buggy Motors, Teo’s Technic pick-up features four-wheel-drive, all-wheel suspension (independent up front and live-axle at the rear), and a high/low gearbox, which – when combined – make a for a model that is really very fast indeed.

Of course it didn’t take the Elf at the controls long to take advantage of that, using Teo’s Ram to, well… ram into anything it could. Mostly its co-workers. In high gear on the flat of the office corridor our Elves were no match for the RAM’s speed, meaning we now have some tidying up to do and some Elven first-aid to administer.

Jurassic Jeep

The Lego Car Blog Elves are currently stomping around the office making ‘Rhaaagh!’ noises, which definitely isn’t annoying.

Flickr’s Jerry Builds Bricks is the cause of our migraine, thanks to his (excellent) Jurassic Park Jeep Wrangler, complete with the movie’s iconic red-and-grey-camo, spotlights, a winch for not-being-eaten-by-velociraptors, and one of those weird looped aerials.

The Antidote

TLCB Towers is surrounded by brand new Land Rover Defenders. Which is a good thing for the viability of JLR, if not the likability of Land Rover. Because every single one is vanity-plated black-on-black with extra black driven by a sleeve-tattooed-holiday-in-Dubai-park-on-yellow-lines-whist-getting-a-weekly-skin-fade-douchebag. And we hate them.

We need a new Defender antidote, and it comes in the form of… the old Defender. Everything the new one isn’t, we’ve never yet seen a spotless original Defender parked illegally outside the Turkish barbers, because they’re still driving around the countryside, often with a sheep in the back. And we love them.

The Hook

We like a good hook here at TLCB, and they don’t come much gooder or hookier than this huge DAF FAD 95.400 ATI 8×4 hook-lift truck by Flickr’s Arian Janssens.

Able to hoist an enormous container onto itself, as well as tow another behind on a draw-bar trailer, Arian’s DAF is a testament to large scale model-making, and there’s loads more to see at his ‘DAF FAD 95.400 ATI 8×4’ album. Take a look via the link above if it’s got you hooked…

2JZ Inside

It wasn’t just Supras that had the 2JZ under the hood. In fact several Toyota and Lexus products were powered by the internet’s favourite engine, including really weird stuff. Which means if you want 2JZ kudos without having to spend ridiculous Supra money, you could get one of these; the excellent Toyota Mark II / Chaser.

Launched in 1992, the seventh generation ‘X90’ Mark II was a mid-size sedan that lasted until 1996, and was available with a variety of engines, including a diesel, a twin-turbo, and the 2JZ.

This splendid Model Team example comes from recent bloggee Mihail Rakovskiy, who is making a name for himself here at TLCB with his excellent ’90s Japanese cars. His ‘X90’ Mark II is as wonderfully life-like as his other creations, with opening doors, hood and trunk, a detailed engine bay, a realistic interior, and even an accurate drivetrain visible underneath.

Foxy Horse

American cars in the late-’70s through mid-’80s were rubbish. They were rubbish long after the mid-’80s too of course, but even the iconic Ford Mustang was a throughly mediocre specimen in its early-’80s guise.

Base on Ford’s then-new ‘Fox’ platform, the third-generation ‘Foxbody’ Mustang could be had as a prosaic coupe, a dreary hatch-back or a lacklustre convertible, and was powered by an array of engines ranging from an inline-4 that produced no horsepower whatsoever to a 5.0 V8 that produced no horsepower whatsoever.

Getting with the times however, and Ford did add a 4-cylinder turbo, which did produce some horsepower – briefly – before it broke.

You may have guessed we’re not fans of Ford’s third-generation ‘stang, and we’re not. Until that, is comes to its 1986 facelift.

Adopting Ford’s ‘aero’ design, the Foxbody instantly went from dreary to desirable, and even the engines got a glow-up, with the 4-cylinder breaking the 100bhp mark (up from a miserly 88) by the early-’90s, and the 5.0 V8 surpassing 200bhp.

This excellent Model Team recreation of the Foxbody Mustang captures the facelift’s sleek exterior brilliantly, and comes from previous bloggee Szunyogh Balázs (aka. gnat.bricks). There’s an opening hood (under which can be slotted both a V8 or 4-cylinder engine as Szunyogh has created both), opening doors and trunk, and a superbly life-like interior.

Gran Turismo 2

Much like Toyota’s ‘A80’ Supra is forever bound to ‘The Fast & The Furious’, Nissan’s ‘R34’ Skyline GT-R will be associated in perpetuity with the Gran Turismo video game franchise.

Although its production run spanned just three years, the R34 was – through those famous pixels – an automotive zeitgeist, defining an entire generation’s interaction with cars.

Cue this superb brick-built homage to Nissan’s legendary performance saloon, constructed by recent bloggee Mihail Rakovskiy, which is more lifelike than anything we drove on a Playstation.

Opening doors, hood, and trunk, a detailed ‘RB26DETT’ engine and drivetrain, and even an interior fit for a Technic figure all feature, and you can reimagine you’re back in an R34 at Trial Mountain in the early ’00s via the link to Flickr above.

Three-Hundred Zeds

In 2025, in TLCB’s home market, Nissan sell exactly nothing that we would want to buy, own, sit in, or be seen in. Back in the early ’90s though, and Nissan were altogether more exciting.

This is just one of several sports cars Nissan used to sell before they gave up trying to do anything at all, the fabulous second-generation 300ZX.

Launched in the late ’80s, the 300ZX was ridiculously futuristic, and utilised one of the first supercomputers (and – at the time – the world’s fastest) in its design. It was also powerful, with a naturally-aspirated V6 producing over 220bhp or a twin-turbo over 300bhp – big figures for the time.

Cue this brilliant Model Team replica of Nissan’s high water mark, created by previous bloggee Mihail Rakovskiy, who has captured the 300ZX beautifully.

Opening doors and hood, a ‘glass’ targa roof, and a superbly detailed interior, engine bay, and drivetrain all feature, and you can jump back to a time when Nissan made something other than wheeled sleeping pills at Mihail’s ‘Nissan 300ZX’ album.

Nice Wheels

Almost exactly one year ago, builtbydave_’s wide-body ‘Magic’ Mazda RX-7 appeared on these pages. It drew much admiration from TLCB Team, who secretly wish they were part of Japan’s underground car modifying scene, instead of secretly writing for a janky car website held together by sticky tape and hope.

Dave’s evolution of his RX-7 is doing nothing to dull those dreams, as he’s now equipped his creation with a set of superb 3D-printed Rays TE37 wheels, which are icons in car culture.

First learning Fusion 360, Dave designed his TE37s from scratch, before 3D-printing them at his local library (what a cool library!). The results are – as you can see – fantastic, and add even more authenticity to his already top-drawer build.

My Other Car’s a Countach

Is Lamborghini’s Countach just a bit too everyman for you? With fourteen times fewer units produced, the Bugatti EB110 is an altogether rarer machine, and now you can swap your all-too-common Countach for Bugatti’s briefly-made early-’90s supercar.

Yes, this spectacular recreation of the EB110 is built only using the pieces of the LEGO Icons 10337 Lamborghini Countach set, meaning if you own that frankly ordinary Italian supercar you can rebuild it into something far more exclusive.

Adding an ‘R’

If you’re from the Playstation Generation, this is the coolest car ever made. Apart from maybe a Supra. Constructed by Flickr’s Michał Wolski (aka Porsche96), this Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 is built only from the parts found within the 42154 Ford GT set, and features working steering, opening doors, hood and trunk, and an inline-6 cylinder engine with nearly as much hype as Toyota’s 2JZ. Household Crap

Right, that’s enough far-fetched other-worldly rovers for a bit, here’s a bland 1990s truck, pulling an even blander trailer, filled with bland plastic kitchen products. But built beautifully

This Curver-liveried DAF FT 85.360 ATI and trailer comes from previous bloggee Arian Janssens, and mundane though a mid-’90s DAF may be, the techniques Arian has deployed to create it are exceptional. Subtle custom decals and chrome wheels add to the authenticity and there’s more of the model to see here.

But we’re not just about humdrum haulers of household items today, because Arian has also turned his building talents to something altogether weirder. This is the Vervaet Hyrdo Trike XL, ‘the best self-propelled liquid manure (slurry) processor’, according to, um… the people that make it. And who are we to argue with that!

Fanboys Assemble!

The third generation Toyota Supra. The greatest sports car ever made, a car with Ferrari-beating performance, and capable of a million wheel-horsepower on stock internals. At least if the internet is to be believed…

This superb Model Team scale A80 Supra captures the mid-’90s fanboy favourite brilliantly, with previous bloggee Mihail Rakovskiy‘s creation including opening doors, tailgate and hood, a life-like chassis and drivetrain, and a replica 2JZ engine. Prime Time

It’s been a while since we last let TLCB Elves watch a ‘Transformers’ movie, but today they are doing just that, with previous bloggee SFH_Bricks to thank for another dose of Megan Fox. SFH’s one-hundredth creation captures the flame-painted Peterbilt 379-based ‘robot in disguise’ wonderfully, and you can check out all of the top quality images of Optimus Prime on Flickr.
