Lego Alexander Dennis Envrio 500 Hybrid Bus

This spectacular Technic creation is an Alexander Dennis Enviro 500 bus, as used across the Chinese Island of Hong Kong.

Built by a small British company, rear-wheel-drive and with hybrid propulsion, the Envrio 500 is almost exactly the same as the McLaren P1 supercar. Apart from in every other way. This superb recreation comes from previous bloggee shinyu, and it’s packed with brilliant technical functionality. There’s remotely controlled drive and steering, active suspension that can raise and lower the entire bodywork to facilitate boarding, and motorised opening and closing doors.

Lego Toyota Hiace

South Africans love their Toyotas. Reliability is everything in such a vast, dangerous and empty landscape. However this particular Toyota is feared and loathed by anyone not at the wheel.

It is of course the Hiace, and it’s the favoured tool of South Africa’s criminally-run minibus taxi companies, who – much like the drug cartels of South America – are at war over territory, regularly killing one another in order to expand or protect their business interests.

Ageing, dangerously maintained, and wildly overloaded Hiaces make up the majority of the taxi fleets, and almost all are driven with a suicidal abandon that ensures the road ahead of them is quickly cleared.

Lego VW Transporter

Wise if slightly ironic words from the late King of Pop. Today’s two opposingly-hued Town creations show that even the trickiest of colours can be photographed beautifully.

Above is -derjoe-‘s wonderfully accurate Volkswagen Transporter, whilst below TLCB regular _Tiler is making another appearance, this time with a gorgeous classic Chevrolet Camaro.

Lego Battle Bus

Mr. Airhorn had been slumbering peacefully for quite some time here at TLCB Towers. Not today though, as a TLCB Elf was having probably the greatest day of its life.

This remarkable Technic creation is the work of previous bloggee Desert752 Krill, and – as you might be able to tell from the picture above – it’s no ordinary coach. The object protruding from the luggage hold is a remotely operated machine gun. And that’s just the start.

The opposite side features an arm-mounted circular saw, there are deployable tyre spikes, and it features a working anti-aircraft gun and front and rear mounted missiles. Plus the usual RC steering and drive of course. All in all it’s the perfect vehicle for a megalomaniacal paranoid dictator, or – in the case of today’s office carnage – an ecstatic TLCB Elf. It’s a shame it hasn’t been entered into TLCB Summer Building Contest as we don’t think anything will come close in the violence scoring category.

The only way to really see the entirety of the engineering insanity within this model is by video, and fortunately Desert752 has produced a brilliant one to accompany his build. Lego RC Bus

The Elves don’t much like buses. They did manage to get on one once but we now have a court injunction so it’s safe to say that it didn’t go well.

Anyway, we – TLCB Staff – do quite like buses, and this Credo Econell 12 from Gabor Horvath of MOCpages looks excellent to us.

Underneath the remarkably life-like exterior is a plethora of electric functionality, including RC drive and steering and Power Functions controlled opening doors.

Lego London Bus

London’s iconic red double-decker buses are famous around the world. The latest hybrid fleet is being rolled out now, but its diesel predecessors will be around for a while yet. This Enviro 400 (an ironic name for anyone that’s walked/cycled/breathed behind one) is the work of previous bloggee Hung Andy, who continues his chronology of London transport. Lego AEC STL London Routemaster Bus

This gorgeous pair of mini-figure scale London buses comes from TLCB debutant Hung Andy. Whilst his Flickr name does seem more appropriate for the seedier corners of the internet, Hung Andy’s builds are some of the most exceptional Town style vehicles we’ve seen in all of our time blogging.

Two eras of London Routemaster bus are represented, the second of which is only just coming to end with the arrival of the new (and beautiful) hybrid double-decker this year.

Halloween Themed Title

Lego Technic VW Camper

This may look like a tenuous attempt to link today’s post to the spooky festival in which we’re blogging it, but it was planned all along. Definitely.

Anyway, this gorgeous Type 2 Volkswagen Transporter Bus is the work of Master MOCer Sheepo, who has (much like Volkswagen themselves) repurposed his previous Beetle chassis for a whole new job. Underneath the wonderfully recreated Technic bodywork there’s a choice of remote control drive or a ‘manual’ variation with working drum brakes, steering, 4+R gearbox, suspension and the famous flat-4 engine.

So what’s so spooky about it? Well firstly, any car that can drive itself is up to no good, and secondly, would you ever get in one of these if it stopped to pick you up after your car had broken down at the side of the road? Exactly. Sheepo’s Lego version even has doors that lock too…

Here at TLCB Towers it’s half-term, meaning the roads are nicely devoid of the unnecessarily large SUVs that clog them up most mornings. What we need is a good school bus system, something that America’s got nailed. Lego Town Bus

After some big posts last week we kick of the new week with something a bit smaller. This beautiful classic Polish Autosan H9-35 bus was built by Maciej Drwiega on Flickr. It may only be ‘Town’ scale but the detail is as intricate as on the largest model we’ve posted here. You can see more of the Autosan via the link above.

Lego Maxi-Fig Bus

It’s 40 years since LEGO introduced people into their products, with what is now affectionately known as the ‘Maxi-Fig’. Long since replaced by the ‘Mini-Fig’ (which are now so numerous if they were to rise up against humanity we’d be in big trouble), the ‘Maxi-Fig’ was a sort of immovable Technic figure, permanently happy and with two elbows on each arm. Brickbaron pays homage to 1970s LEGO with his lovely B-Type bus populated with smiling ‘Maxi-Fig’ patrons. Brought to our attention by The Brothers Brick, you can see more of Brickbaron’s commemorative creation here.

Lego School Bus

Friend of The Lego Car Blog, Marcus Paul (aka ER0L) has featured here a few times over the past year with his super Town style vehicles. In the background though, he’s been working on something quite revolutionary during 2013.

With his collaborative partner Altezza RS, ER0L has designed an ingenious system to provide his vehicles with propulsion around a town layout, taking inspiration from both LEGO’s own Miniland displays in which vehicles and ships move around set routes, and slot car racing systems such as the mightily good fun Scalextric.

Lego Plymouth Fury

It’s the weekend, hurrah! And we’ve got a very special post for you today. MOCpages-based Henrik Hoexbroe has featured on The Lego Car Blog a number of times over the past two years with his superb Town-scale vehicles of all descriptions. Henrik uses these cars to add life and realism to his ‘Mega MOC’ Town displays, filling the streets with all sorts of wonderful classic metal.

Henrik is currently working on his latest large Town scene and has shown a preview of the vehicles that will feature within it. They range from historic vans, buses and trucks (above) to well-known and easily identifiable classic cars, like the Ford Capri, Mercedes Taxi and Citroen DS (below).

Nick Barrett’s Bedford VAL coach might lack gold bars (come on Mr. Barrett, an easy addition!) but it’s spot-on otherwise, right down to the twin steered front axels. See more on Flickr.

AEC Regent BusHere at The Lego Car Blog we usually feature creations with a V8 under the hood, flames shooting out the back, or machine guns on the front. And sometimes all of the above at once. This glorious AEC Regent Bus in Lisbon livery (hence the Portuguese title) has none of these things, but it is fanatically beautiful, and thus it earns a place here – and instantly makes the homepage a more classy place to be to boot. Joao Campos is the builder behind it, and you can see more of this wonderful historic vehicle on MOCpages.
