…are actually pieces of electrical equipment. Regular readers of TLCB will know of the Elves’ obsession with the Transformers franchise. Finding the best Lego cars on the internet provides Smarties and meal tokens but happiness involves explosions, robots, more explosions and Megan Fox. You can imagine their excitement at finding Jakeof_’s latest build. The smoothly modelled DAF XF95 tractor, towing a Nooteboom Pendel-X trailer with a large transformer as its load is typical of Jakeof_’s style. You can also imagine their disappointment once they realised what sort of transformer it actually was. Still, we’re happy with our find and recommend that you visit Jakeof_’s Photostream to see the details.

Lego Town Racetrack

We love racing cars here at The Lego Car Blog, and we love LEGO too. Both of these things are in our name and everything. So imagine our delight when one of our Elven workforce found this, an absolutely fantastic Town raceway, complete with grandstand, pit-lane, race control, snack stands, hilarious cameos, and of course a fleet of top-notch racing cars.

Newcomer Brick Knight is the creator of this enormous scene, and his attention to detail is spectacular. There are almost forty images available to view in his Flickr album, all abounding in imagination and many featuring some brilliantly chosen comic and TV cameos!

Lego City Car Ferry

This lovely Town-style car ferry was discovered by one of our Elves on Flickr. It’s an unusual build for TLCB, but we like cars and the most interesting places to drive them are often on the other side of some water. It’s also a thoroughly excellent build, looking realistic, yet sturdy and playable too – exactly what a Lego Town model should be. We reckon it’s good enough to be an official LEGO City set.

LEGO Releases its First Disabled Mini-Figure!

Lego City Wheelchair

LEGO is a wonderfully inclusive toy. Even back when mini-figures were mostly male, all yellow, and always smiling, the humble plastic bricks crossed gender, age and cultural boundaries beautifully.

In recent years The Lego Company has taken a more balanced approach to the different ethnicities and genders that make up society, with their little mini-figures becoming more diverse and, much like any real-world community, far more interesting as a result.

However there was an omission in their current mini-figure range, but one that has now been rectified, as LEGO release their first-ever mini-figure wheelchair! We cannot applaud this move enough – a huge well done to LEGO, and also to the groups that petitioned LEGO in order to raise the issue of disabled mini-figure representation.

The new mini-figure wheelchair is due to be released in the second half of the year as part of the new LEGO City line-up and who knows, maybe with LEGO’s partnership with Marvel we could see a certain X-Men character in mini-figure form too.

No this isn’t a review of Lego Technic’s monster machine, we’ve already done that. This is a review of Andy L’s mini version, which packs almost the same functionality into a chassis that is just 8 studs wide. It steers, has fold-out stabilisers, it tips and has a very manoeuvrable arm. Andy has also made his own grabber bucket, rather than use Lego’s ready made part. Lego Freightliner Truck

Our Elves have barely a rudimentary grasp of even the English language, so unfortunately foreign-language sites are largely missed here at TLCB. However, a Doktor Brick member (Pat) got in touch with a suggestion from the German Lego forum, so it’s over to him as guest blogger…

We at Doktor Brick have some really good car builders and designers… Today I’d like to present you this excellent Freightliner Truck from the 1970s. The model is 8-studs wide and fits well into the latest Lego City universe. Pet-tho is the builder and you can see all of his photos (plus some explanation in German) by clicking here.

Lego Town Hot Rod

Lots of awesome Lego creations have appeared here since we started blogging a few short years ago. During this time the standard of uploads in the Lego Community has risen to new heights, with many builds being considered bona-fide works of art.

But… and we know this will annoy some… that’s not what Lego was made for. Lego was made for play, so it’s lovely to see a build that not only looks great but that has play value too.

David VII‘s Town-scale hot rod can fit a mini-figure inside it, has opening doors and roof, and posable steering. And for that we like it very much. See more on Flickr at the link above.

Our Elves almost missed this charming creation from Galaktek, on Flickr. Unusually for a sci-fi build it isn’t covered in guns & missiles and our workforce has a proven penchant for such things. This delivery lorry could easily be from the near future of Lego’s “City” range and features some very neat “wheel” units. Click on this link to see how Galaktek made them.

Lego Bullpup

The Lego City Police Department must be fighting a whole new breed of mini-figure criminal these days, judging by the ferocity of their latest vehicles.

Both this Town style helicopter and armoured personal carrier have been enhanced considerably by the addition of some killer third party accessories. Normally we don’t post non-LEGO components here at TLCB, but the examples above compliment the creations superbly.

Suggested by a reader, Andrew Sommers is the builder and you can see more of his police force’s impressive armoury on Flickr.

Garage 01

The first of two car maintenance related posts today comes from L@go, over on Flickr. It’s a reworking of the classic 361 Garage set from 1979. This version has been updated and expanded too, leaving loads of space for an interior packed with details.

There’s an oil spill on the floor, that looks just like the stain on the carpet in reception at The Lego Car Blog Towers. There’s also a very nicely built bench vice and what we hope is a sausage in a microwave. Higher up, you might spot a fume extraction system and the typical collection of junk and old car parts that you’ll find on the office roof of many workshop. Here at TLCB we rarely get to LEGO Events. This is mostly because the Elves have a habit of sneaking into our bags and that doesn’t tend to end well in public spaces. Luckily for us though we have some lovely people amongst our readership who can attend on our behalf. One such reader is previous bloggee Chris Elliott, who recently attended (and displayed at) Brickfair 2014. Over to Chris to take us through what was there…

Hi! I’m Chris, and I’m honored to be back again guest-blogging for TLCB! Today I’m writing a recap of Brickfair New Jersey 2014 from the perspective of a car guy. Brickfair NJ is a relatively large event, and in 2014 there were several really good vehicle displays to be enjoyed by the car connoisseur. Lego School Bus

Here at TLCB Towers it’s half-term, meaning the roads are nicely devoid of the unnecessarily large SUVs that clog them up most mornings. What we need is a good school bus system, something that America’s got nailed. Lego Motor Yacht

Because millionaire mini-figures need to get from Long Island to Manhattan too.

JBIronWorks has built one of the more luxurious ways to commute to Wall Street with his beautiful recreation of the 1929 motor yacht ‘Mohican’, and it looks the perfect bath-toy for TLCB executive jacuzzi.

The real classic yacht is currently up for sale for a cool $1million, but if that’s a bit out of your reach you can pretend with JB on Flickr. Money can’t buy you happiness anyway. Although it can buy you a $1million motor yacht.

Tint Fire Engine

It’s red and blue Smarties all round for the Elves at The Lego Car Blog today, as they’ve returned from MOCpages with a pair of little trucks. First up is a micro fire engine from Taiwanese builder Chung-Po Cheng, whose bin lorry we featured a couple of days ago. Second is Tommaso Garosi’s Unimog. Christmas is coming (there have been decorations in the shops for weeks now) and Tommaso’s crew are busy loading trees onto their truck. Lego City Garbage Truck

Refuse Collectors are surly the unsung heroes of the modern world. Removing the vast quantities of detritus created by our wasteful and consumerist society, without them we’d be neck deep in trash within a week.
