Lego technic Mad Max V8 Interceptor

TLCB Elves only like two types of movies; those with robots, explosions and car chases, and those with Megan Fox in. Handily the Transformers franchise provides them with all of this, but Mad Max is a fairly close second, despite the Megan Fox shaped hole in it.

We haven’t let them watch the newest addition to the saga yet (the Elves are banned from our local cinema due a series of unfortunate incidents), but the late ’70s original and its ’80s sequel are regular fodder for the old TV/VHS combo situated in their cage room. But only once they’ve brought a Mad Max creation back for us to blog of course.

Today one Elf has been fed and lots more are happily cheering and whooping at the TV downstairs, because this most excellent Mad Max creation was brought into the office.

Hailing from the early original movies, Paave’s V8 Interceptor ‘Pursuit Special’ features Buggy Motor propulsion, a servo for steering, an on-board Li-Po battery, working suspension, and a whirling supercharger pulley.

Lego Mad Max Fury Road Vicious

Lego versions of the Mad Max – Fury Road vehicles are appearing e.v.e.r.y.w.h.e.r.e, but we don’t mind – they are the perfect cars for this little corner of the internet. This one comes from Jin Kei, and it’s one of the key cars from the epic post-apoc movie. Join the madness at the link above.

Lego Mad Max Peacemaker Ripsaw Sariel

This is, quite simply, the most effective Elf-smushing vehicle that has ever graced the halls of TLCB Towers.

It’s Sariel‘s incredible newest creation, taken from the equally incredible Mad Max – Fury Road movie, and it’s one of our favourite cars of the year so far.

Underneath the ruined muscle car bodywork, and above the brilliant suspended track system, sit a pair of LEGO batteries connected to twin LEGO RC buggy motors, each controlled by the superb SBrick third-party bluetooth system.

And that makes the Peacemaker one of the fastest, most agile and most highly manoeuvrable Lego vehicles that this site has ever published. And none of this was good news for our Elves.

Lego Mad Max 2 Road Warrior

There are a few vehicles that you don’t want to see looming in your rearview mirror. If you’re Mad Max, the first of today’s two creations is one of them; the lead chase car in Mad Max 2 ‘The Road Warrior’.

As it turns out, it doesn’t end well for the pink-mowhawked maniac riding in the convertible truck, but Max doesn’t fare much better either. This excellent mini-figure version of the car from the 1981 movie comes from TLCB regular _Tiler, and there’s more to see at his Flickr Photostream.

Today’s second creation is a from a brand that we’re all used to seeing in our rearview mirror, two feet from our rear bumper, being driven by a sunglasses-wearing douchebag who really must get to that next meeting asap.

Yes, Audi have become the manufacturer of choice for tailgating muppets everywhere, but there was a time when Audi’s class of driver was altogether different. Coincidentally it was back in the ’80s when Max was being terrorised by the vehicle above, and Audi stood for understated excellence.

It was the car below that really put the brand on the map, and – unfortunately – went a long way in adding Audi to the buying lists of the aforementioned clientele. It is of course the legendary early ’80s quattro with a small ‘q’. This neat Lego version has been built by Ben, and is available to view on Flickr.

Lego Mad Max RV Truck

This gloriously nuts Mad Max-esque RV/Truck/Armoured Car, entitled ‘Clan’s Moving House’, was discovered by a delighted TLCB Elf on Flickr today. It’s been built by Luis Baixinho and it looks like the perfect vehicle to make it through any one of the variety of apocalyptic events that the weird guy on the outskirts of town hoarding canned food and ammunition thinks is imminent. Lego Mad Max Fury Road

Following our review of the excellent Manner-Spielzeug Interceptor set from the original 1980s Mad Max movies, we’re back to the 2015 incarnation, with another superb Town-scale recreation from TLCB regular _Tiler. His latest replica is probably the weirdest yet, and you can see more of this and his previous Fury Road vehicles via the link to Flickr above.

Lego Elves Mad Max

We think this builder may have taken TLCB Summer Building Competition brief a bit too literally…

A number of competition entries have been Mad Max or post-apoc related, but this is definitely the first to mix the madness with LEGO’s own recently launched ‘Elves’ theme. In case you’re unsure, LEGO’s Elves are nothing like our own. Like, at all.

TLCB newcomer Lego Warboys‘ mini-figure scale recreation of the ‘Gigahorse’ from Mad Max – Fury Road is almost everything the Elves could want in a vehicle. The ‘Elven’ iteration on the right is… less so.

Max is Mad. His ride – the last of the V8 Interceptors – has been requisitioned by Immortan Joe, and he is not happy. Lego Post Apoc Ford GT

Well this is ridiculous. And just what the Elves look for in their perfect vehicle. Ford’s new GT supercar hasn’t even been launched yet, but previous bloggee Alexander Paschoaletto has already given it the Mad Max / Death Race post-apoc treatment. There’s a bull-dozer bucket up front, cannons on the roof, and a rather scary looking Elf to the side.

TLCB Summer Building Competition

The Lego Car Blog Summer Building Competition, in partnership with Flickr’s LUGnuts and Headturnerz groups, is nearly half way through!

We’ve seen some excellent entries so far – here are few of our favourites to date that haven’t yet appeared on the blog…

Lego Technic F1 Car

This creation is one of the Elves’ favourites, ticking with the ‘fast’ and ‘violent’ boxes with a big thick marker. Greg Conroy has re-purposed the pieces within the official 42039 Technic set to build a mini-gun toting racing car. It’s sort of Mario Kart meets Formula 1, and that can only be a good thing. Greg has also included a couple of Elves to score some bonus points too. There’s more to see on Brickshelf – click here to check it out.

Next up we have a herd(?) of Mad Max-ish hot rods, with several builders taking this route to the Elves’ hearts. From left to right, _zenn‘s ‘Karma’ hot rod, Filip Gabryel‘s ’57 Chevy tow-truck, and Calvin Sun‘s post-apoc BMW.

The top row score highly for violence potential, whilst the bottom row earn some speed points, but with no Elves and few racing stripes included they can certainly be beaten to the prize-winning top spots.

One of TLCB staff picks so far is this very cleverly constructed Pagani Huayra from Flickr’s Yubnub. Whilst it features no Elves or racing stripes, it epitomises ‘Nice Parts Usage’, with hot dogs used in the most interesting way we’ve ever seen. OK, the second most interesting way, but we better not talk about the other one.

Lego Mad Max Toyota FJ40

The Lego Car Blog Summer Building Competition is underway, and we’re starting to receive some excellent entries! This is one of our favourites so far, Senator Chinchilla‘s post-apoc Toyota FJ40. It features everything you could need to fight off marauders and/or zombie hordes, plus working steering, functioning suspension, and side pipes. Because side-pipes are cool.

Lego Mad Max Hot Rod

There seems to be little let-up in the proliferation of Mad Max – Fury Road vehicles within the Lego Community, and we couldn’t be more pleased! Flickr’s _Tiler has added another to his garage – you can see more of it and his previous Mad Max builds at the link above.

Lego Mad Max Gigahorse Cadillac

After posting several small scale recreations of the magnificent vehicles from ‘ Mad Max – Fury Road’ we finally have something a little bigger to publish, and what Mad Max vehicle could be better than Immortan Joe’s stacked Cadillac ‘Gigahorse’?

Like most of the amazing cars from the blockbuster movie the Gigahorse was made for real. Two 1959 Cadillac DeVille coupes were harvested for their body parts and two supercharged Chevrolet V8s – making a combined 1200bhp – were mounted in parallel up front, channelling that huge power through a custom built gearbox. Terex front loaders provided the rest of the drivetrain whilst 70″ tractor tyres took care of the traction.

Tim Inman‘s plastic replica stays as faithful to this set-up as is possible with Lego, and the resultant vehicle is as wonderfully ridiculous as we could have hoped for. There’s lot’s more to see at Tim’s photostream – click the link above to make the jump.

Lego Mad Max Fury Road Cranky Frank Pick-Up

The incredible vehicles of ‘Mad Max – Fury Road’ have taken root in the conscious of the Lego Community of late, which is something we are very much in favour of here at TLCB. Flickr’s _Tiler has added another vehicle from the film – Cranky Frank – to his collection.
