Lego Technic Mercedes-Benz Arocs

Following the launch of LEGO’s 42043 Mercedes-Benz Arocs set earlier in the year the online Lego community has been churning our new variants at a prolific rate.

The latest to feature here comes fitted with a giant piece of Agrar agricultural equipment on the back which is remotely controlled by a Power Functions motor, with another powering its all-wheel-drive, a third controlling the steering, and a fourth operating the transmission.

Lego Dodge Ram 3500

Here at TLCB we don’t like ’90s traditional American pick-up trucks. Because they are – and we can’t state this strongly enough – truly dreadful in every conceivable way. This one, a Dodge Ram 3500, could be ordered with a Cummins diesel engine though, which meant that you could throw the rest of the truck away and at least keep hold of one bit of respectable engineering.

Luckily Ford are now shaking up the lacklustre truck market, with lighter aluminium bodies and smaller more efficient turbocharged engines, meaning that hopefully in a few years time the only naturally-aspirated ugly behemoth you’ll be able to see will be in Lego form like this. Plus your Mom of course. Lego Tatra Tippier Truck

How many The Lego Car Blog Elves can you fit in the back of remote controlled Model Team Tatra 815 tipper truck?

As it turns out, lots. Which makes it all the more amusing when said truck is driven to the TLCB Towers door, its tilting load bed is deployed, and the Elven cargo is dumped outside.

We should get some peace in the office for a bit now, and you can check out this most excellent Tatra 815 tipper truck at Jarda‘s Brickshelf account.

Mini Mercedes-Benz Arocs Review

No this isn’t a review of Lego Technic’s monster machine, we’ve already done that. This is a review of Andy L’s mini version, which packs almost the same functionality into a chassis that is just 8 studs wide. It steers, has fold-out stabilisers, it tips and has a very manoeuvrable arm. Andy has also made his own grabber bucket, rather than use Lego’s ready made part. This mean looking Technic Trophy Truck was discovered by one of our Elves on Flickr. Horcik Designs is the builder and it’s a quality bit of kit, with Power Functions RC drive and steering, working suspension and a rechargeable on-board LiPo battery. Big Blue Rig

After the Teeny Tiny Trains, we’re featuring a Big Blue Rig. This neat 8-wide truck from Jakeof_, on Flickr. We like the way that he’s used 1x2x2/3 slopes on the front to make Kenworth’s distinctive grille. As noted by Firas Abu-Jaber, this is a very clean, smooth build. It’s so smooth that it actually lacks doors for the driver to get aboard. Then again, that never stopped the Dukes of Hazard! Jakeof_ has finished his tractor unit off with a very nice refrigerated trailer, which is perfect for hauling goods across the Australian desert.

GAZ or Thin Air?

The penthouse offices of The Lego Car Blog were the scene of yet another riot this morning. The Elves who found this GAZ-66 truck by Kirill Simerzin were expecting to be rewarded with handfuls of green Smarties. Unfortunately for them, they hadn’t spotted that this Russian 4×4 vehicle hasn’t actually been built in real bricks. Neither had we, until we read the description. This MOC has been built in the online Mecabricks app and then rendered to a very high standard indeed. Other builders are getting increasingly impressive results with the new Bluerender package. However, the Elves will still prefer models made from real bricks for the moment, otherwise the Smarties and meal tokens will be a bit thin on the ground.

Lego Mad Max War Rig

This insane looking vehicle is – of course – the brutal War Rig from the 2015 movie epic Mad Max – Fury Road.

Built by MOCpages’ Desert752 Kirill the War Rig features a multitude of remotely operated functions and, rather than the real truck’s 6×4 drive train, a full 6×6 system. Plus 6-wheel-drive for the trailer. And 4-wheel-drive for the trailer’s trailer. Yup, this marvellous beast has a 16×16 drivetrain, which has got to be a TLCB first.

16×16 is also incredibly effective at squashing TLCB Elves, as many of them discovered today thanks to the delighted Elf at the controls.

It’s a cheap day at The Lego Car Blog editorial offices. Smarties are made in neither black nor white colours and so we were unable to reward the Elf who brought in RGB900‘s Police Off-Roader. This stylish, futuristic vehicle looks perfect for all terrains and riot control too. It’s one of a series of 5-wide trucks from this Taiwanese builder. We found a rather nice fire engine in RGB900’s Flickr Photostream, so it’s a red Smartie for us!

Lego Technic Mercedes Arocs

The Mercedes-Benz Arocs creations keep on coming! The latest to grace these pages comes from Eurobrick’s Samolot, and it’s one of the most impressive developments of LEGO’s 42043 set that we’ve seen thus far.

Featuring remote control drive and steering, suspension and pneumatic outriggers, Samolot’s Arocs truck includes as many functions as the official set, and that’s before you get to the junk in the trunk…

Mounted over the rear wheels is a platform suspended by six pneumatic cylinders (controlled via a Power Functions electric compressor), which can raise, lower, pitch, and yaw. Insert some patrons into said platform along with a large TV screen and this Mercedes-Benz Arocs becomes a flight simulator ride!

Samolot’s creation is one of the engineering highlights of the year so far, and includes five Power Functions motors, three Power Functions switches, ten pneumatic cylinders and six meters of pneumatic hosing.

Lego Mercedes-Benz Arocs Truck

LEGO’s Technic Mercedes-Benz Arocs set is currently generating a huge response from the online community; we’ve publicised four home-built variants in the last week alone! This one, suggested to us by a reader, comes from previous bloggee Krzysztof Cytacki, and it’s so far the most similar build to the official set. But don’t let that fool you – it’s far from a minor modification.

Krzysztof’s Arocs truck loses the official set’s 4-axle configuration in place of a 3-axel with rear-steer set up. It also features a grab arm, pneumatically operated stabilisers, and a hook-lift roll-off container, which is also powered by LEGO’s neat pneumatic system.

Lego Mercedes Arocs

LEGO’s latest flagship, the Technic 42043 Mercedes-Benz Arocs set, is currently generating a bit of a buzz in the online Lego Community, and Polish Lego group LUGpol has tasked its members with diversifying the official set by building a new vehicle from the original cab.

We featured a superb remotely controlled Arocs flatbed rescue truck here earlier, which we thought would be tough to beat, but Brickshelf’s GIJack might have taken the lead with his excellent 3-vehicle car transporter. Yes, you can fit not one, but three broken Fiats on-board. Or some nice shiny new cars of course.

Lego Mercedes-Benz Arocs Truck

The last four creations posted here have been remotely controlled, thanks to LEGO’s excellent Power Functions motor system, and today’s find makes it five-in-a-row. TLCB debutant Karol Czerwonka’s Mercedes-Benz Arocs recovery truck mixes LEGO’s electric motors and pneumatics systems to create a fully working under-lift and a brilliant tilting and sliding recovery bed.

There’s also functioning steering, a tilting cab with opening doors, and a working piston engine. In fact the only way Karol’s truck could be more realistic is if it included a Fiat on the back. This superb remote control Scania R730 truck was discovered on MOCpages today. It’s been built by previous bloggee Shineyu Yu, who has matched his latest build to scale with LEGO’s own Mercedes-Benz Arocs truck. Underneath the Technic bodywork is a set of Power Functions motors and LED lights, and there’s lots more to see on either MOCpages or Eurobricks – click the links to make the jump.
