Technic Trophy TruckAnother day, another Elf returns to the office, another meal token is distributed, and another creation is featured. The system works! This find comes from Eurobricks, where Piterx has built a very cool looking Technic Trophy Truck, complete with Power Functions RC and some beautifully bouncy suspension. See all the photos and a video of it in action here.

Black Friday: The Walking Dead

The Walking Dead Lego Winnebago

Today a plague of mindless, soulless zombies took to the streets, crushing the weak and inattentive beneath them, and remorselessly stopping at nothing until their lust was quenched.

We are of course talking about the American scourge known as ‘Black Friday’, where people are willing to trample one another to death to secure a 50% discount on something they didn’t even want until today, and where the equivalent of the entire GDP of Sudan is spent in just 24 hours.

Much like The Walking Dead’s Dale sitting atop his Winnebago whilst the zombies surge below him, The Lego Car Blog Towers are located out of reach of the madness, allowing us to watch from afar as society destroys itself to secure $25 off a hi-fi.

Misterzumbi’s mini-figure scale recreation of both Dale and the motorhome that featured in the first two seasons of the apocalyptic series seem perfect for today. We just hope our future is brighter than Dale’s turned out to be.

You can see all the photos of Misterzumbi’s fantastic model at his photostream here, and for our readers that managed to avoid the Black Friday greed, a super secret link. If you’d like to do something different from the zombies today, we highly recommend Red Cross, Christian Aid, Unicef and many more.

Lego The Walking Dead

Dark Horse

Lego Ferrari 458 Italia GT3

Octan, LEGO’s fictional oil company since 1992, has seen a huge range of vehicles adorned with its livery over the years. From F1 cars to power boats, the list of sets and MOCs to include the iconic red and green colours is almost endless. None though, have looked as superb as this.

Built by TLCB’s current Master MOCers ‘LegoExotics’ (aka Sven B and Jens M) have recreated the mighty Ferrari 458 Italia GT3 race car in incredible detail. And then they’ve added the livery of the greatest fictional oil company ever. So right does their creation look that it would probably convince anyone outside of the Lego Community that it’s a copy of a genuinely sponsored racing car.

The result is that we have a new favourite car of the 2013, and LegoExotics are now perhaps the best active Model Team vehicle builders anywhere in the world.

To see all the photos of their magnificent Ferrari 458 head over to LegoExotic’s photostream, and to read their Lego story in The Lego Car Blog’s ‘Master MOCers’ series, including a sneak preview of what they’re building next, click here to be redirected to their interview.

Road Warrior

Lego Road Warrior

This mean looking Technic supercar found it’s way to TLCB Towers via the Feedback and Submission Suggestions page, having generated a very positive response over on MOCpages. Relative newcomer Ryan Evens‘ ‘Road Warrior’ features all of the usual Technic supercar toys, including a working engine, gearbox, steering and Power Functions remote control, and also a few extras you wouldn’t normally expect to find. We’ll let you head over to his MOCpage to uncover what they are. The nosiest of our Elves got a surprise when they snuck out to investigate…

The Fall Guy

Lego The Fall Guy

Ralph Savelsberg (aka Mad Physicist) continues his run of TV-themed builds with the GMC K-2500 pick-up truck from the 1980s American series ‘The Fall Guy’.

Shown a few thousand miles away from TLCB Towers (and before this writer was born), our extensive research into the cult TV show has revealed it ran for 5 years between 1981 to 1986, and was set around a stunt-man-come-bounty-hunter and Heather Thomas’ chest. That’s about as far as we got.

Type ‘Heather Thomas’ into your search engine to do your own research, or alternatively click the link above to see more of Ralph’s Lego version of the iconic truck.

Super Sunday

Lego Vivace Supercar

After a telling-off from TLCB Staff for yesterday’s un-car-y focus, the Elves are working hard to make amends (and earn dinner). Today they’ve found no less than three creations, and they’re all cars! It may be a sign of the coming apocalypse, but lets enjoy it while it lasts.

No.1: One of the highest quality own-designed cars we’ve seen, Flickr’s Lego Builders ‘Vivace’ supercar is something whole office would happily be seen in. See the full gallery at the link above.

Lego Mazda RX-7

No. 2: Very much a real car – and a legendary one at that – Mazda’s brilliant rotary powered RX-7. Senator Chinchilla is the brains behind a superb replica that’s available to view now on Flickr.

Lego Monster truck 4x4

No. 3: Last, but definitely not least, is this affront to decent handling and efficiency, _drdesignz_ awesome all-wheel-steered monster truck. What it lacks in economy and handling it more than makes up for in badassery, which is a word added to TLCB Dictionary just for this creation. See all the photos and the Doctor’s photostream via the link above.

All of today’s vehicles were found in the same group on Flickr, and were the last three models uploaded to the group gallery. Head Turnerz is the collective making it much too easy for the Elves, and you can join them on Flickr via the link. Enjoy your weekend, we’re off to the shops to stock up on Elf treats.

Spacey Saturday

Lego D-Wing Fighter

The Elves are feeling a bit peculiar this weekend, and thus they’ve found some pretty weird creations today. Not all were suitable for public viewing, but these two definitely are. First up (above) is the latest creation by TLCB favourite VolumeX, who has expanded on the Star Wars ship naming rules and designed a ‘D-Wing’ fighter. You can see all the details at VolumeX’s photostream above.

Lego Technic Star Wars Droid

Today’s second spacey MOC comes from Technic builder Vimal Patel, better known as vmln8r, who also builds something that bears a close resemblance to George Lucas’ finest work. Vimal’s Technic droid features remote control, including a handy grabbing arm that looks great for fetching sweets and the TV remote. See it in action below, or on Vimal’s photostream via the link above.

The XX

Lego Ferrari 599XX

This amazing creation is the work of Lego-building duo Sven and Jens (aka LegoExotics) on Flickr, who have featured a few times here on The Lego Car Blog over the past two years. Their work almost always features a prancing horse on the front, and this might just be their best Ferrari yet. Based on the already brilliant 599, the Ferrari 599 XX Evo turned the volume up to a very Spinal Tap 11.

You can check out Sven and Jens’ work – including the Ferrari 599 XX featured here – via the link above, and in addition we’re delighted to announce that LegoExotics have become the 6th entrant into The Lego Car Blog’s Master MOCers series. Click on the link below to read their story, or on the ‘Interviews’ tab in the main menu where you can see LegoExotics and all of the past Master MOCers.

Dubstep

Lego Technic VolksrodThis mean looking VeeDub Volksrod was suggested to us via the Feedback and Submission Suggestions page. Built by MOCpager sm 01 it features Power Functions remote control, opening doors, and the most important feature of all – an opening glovebox. See all the photos and a video of it in action at the link above.

American Graffiti

Lego American Graffiti Hot Rod

Brothers Brick writer Ralph Savelsberg (aka Mad Physicist) adds another movie-star car to his already spectacular collection. The Deuce Coupe became one of the most watched cars in the world after its appearance in the 1973 classic American Graffiti and Ralph has recreated the film icon beautifully in his easily recognisable Model Team style. You can view all the photos at his Flickr photostream here, and you can see his previous Lego film and TV vehicles here on The Lego Car Blog by using the Search function at the foot of this page.

Monster Truck

Lego Trophy Truck RCThis mean-looking remote control Trophy Truck is the work of Brickshelf’s pipasseyoyo, and it looks an absolute riot to drive. Powered by LEGO’s mighty Buggy Motor, with a Servo Motor controlling steering and two Power Functions IR Receivers managing the signal it’s as quick as its Monster bodywork suggests. Check out the full gallery, including detailed photos of the chassis, on Brickshelf via the link above, and/or enjoy pipasseyoyo’s excellent accompanying video below.

Slot Machine

Lego School Bus

Friend of The Lego Car Blog, Marcus Paul (aka ER0L) has featured here a few times over the past year with his super Town style vehicles. In the background though, he’s been working on something quite revolutionary during 2013.

With his collaborative partner Altezza RS, ER0L has designed an ingenious system to provide his vehicles with propulsion around a town layout, taking inspiration from both LEGO’s own Miniland displays in which vehicles and ships move around set routes, and slot car racing systems such as the mightily good fun Scalextric.

You can see how ER0L and Altezza are developing their system via the link to ER0L’s American school bus above, or watch the video demonstrating a prototype below. Good luck from TLCB with the development guys!

10502*

Lego 42008 Mini-Figure Scale

LEGO’s Technic Tow Truck 42008 hit the shelves this year, and a very nice model it is too. But what if your mini-figures want to have a go? MOCpages’ Andy L re-imagines what what 42008 would look like if it were about four times smaller (*hence the title – we’re teaching the Elves maths).

With room for two mini-figures up front, Andy’s 7-wide version of the official Technic set looks the bomb-diggidy, and it even includes some of the real set’s Technic functions, including 4-wheel steering, a raising and lowering boom and a working winch.

Come on LEGO, we’d love to see some Town sets with these playable functions! Until LEGO oblige us, check out Andy’s brilliant 42008 redux on MOCpages at the link above.

Build Big!

Lego Metroplex Titan Transformer

This is Metroplex Titan, and he’s huge! (That’s what she said) He stands over 33 inches tall and weighs a truly enormous 30lbs (14kgs). Best of all though, Metroplex really transforms, making him probably the largest Lego Transformer to do so anywhere in the world.

Chris Roach (aka boyzwiththemosttoyz) is the slightly unhinged genius behind him, and he becomes The Lego Car Blog’s fifth ‘Master MOCer’, joining us in the Interviews section at the top of this page.
