Hump Day Rally Special

Lego Lancia Delta IntegraleWhat with it being Hump Day (Wednesday is the ‘hump’ of the week) we thought we’d find a tenuous link to vehicles good over humps, and nothing is better than a rally car when things get humpy.

Both today’s rally cars use LEGO’s excellent RC components to give them drive and steering, both are legends in their own right, but they come from very different rallying eras.

First up (above) is a breathtakingly brilliant Lancia Delta Integrale by Tiago C on Brickshelf. The Delta won an astonishing 46 World Rallies, taking Lancia to six consecutive World Championships and a record which remains to this day.

Next we have one of the new stars of the World Rally and Rally-Cross Championships, Ford’s monster Fiesta, in -as it happens- Monster energy drink livery. The work of Piterx, you can see more photos and join the discussion on Eurobricks.

Lego Technic Ford Fiesta WRCAnd finally, the only thing that gets close to a rally car over the rough stuff is a trial truck. They may be slow, but the humps they can clear are truly enormous. So as a Hump Day bonus here’s Jorge Garcia‘s Tatra Kolos 8×8, also featuring remote control, clearing two humps. You can see the full gallery of the 8×8 in action on MOCpages.

S*** Happens

Lego Crappy DayTyler aka Legohaulic‘s e-mote, entitled ‘Crappy Day’, made us smile today. We hope it does the same for you too. Let Tyler know on Flickr.

Big MAN

Lego MAN TruckA monster truck today, from Nanko Paste on Flickr. His Model Team MAN TGX wrecker features a working compressor and pneumatic under-lift as well as a full suit of interior and exterior details. See more at the link.

Brave Heart

Lego Rescue Ship ERRV Grampian DonThis astonishing creation is a 1.25 meter long replica of the Northern Star rescue boat ‘Grampian Don’, built by the immensely talented Konajra on Flickr. Konajra designed the ship in LDD, before building it for real from over 15,000 LEGO pieces.

Based in Aberdeen, Scotland, the Grampian Don supports the North Sea oil exploration platforms, providing emergency rescue response for the hundreds of North Sea oil workers. To see more of this amazing creation visit Konajra’s Flickr page at the link above, or join in the discussion Eurobricks here.

He’s on a Hover Board!

Lego DeLorean Time MachineThis is probably the most over-built vehicle on the internet, yet almost unbelievably we’ve never featured Doc Brown’s time-travelling DeLorean from the Back To The Future franchise here at TLCB before. Time to rectify that with another one of Ralph Savelsberg‘s brilliant movie cars, complete with Marty McFly on a stolen Mattel Hover Board. It’s so realistic we could probably go back in time and blog it sooner and avoid this post altogether. See more on Flickr.

Lifting Bricks

Lego Liebherr Crane[Maks] is back, and he returns to The Lego Car Blog with this magnificent Town-style Liebherr LTM crane. See the full gallery, where your building skills will seem archaic by comparison, via [Maks]’ Flickr photostream.

Tiny Tank

Tiny Tank 02
The tiny minds of the TLCB Elves are often attracted to tiny things. This small, clean, fun build is the work of The Digster on MOCpages.

EC-635

EC-635 HelicopterKit Bricksto’s military EC-635 Helicopter has been built in the perfect scale for mini-figures. Too often they lie neglected in the bottom of a Lego tub, forgotten, and dreaming of the day someone will rescue them and put them to work. If yours are awaiting a more interesting life follow Kit’s example; dig them out and build them something cool. We can almost guarantee they’ll be smiling.

Buzzin’ Hornet

Lego Hornet FighterTLCB newcomer Thomas W. aka Sylon-TW earns a post without building a car at all. We do like posting aircraft from time to time, especially when they’re as inventive as this. Thomas’ ‘AW2 Hornet’ is available in FlickrVision.

Play with Bley

Lego Dropside Military TruckLEGO’s switch from grey to a slightly more blue-y grey (bley) a few years ago was a little annoying if you were in the middle of building a creation that needed to be all one colour, but TheBrickRepuplic makes it work on his military logistics truck over on Flickr.

His build is also pretty robust and playable, which is good news for The Lego Car Blog Elves, who often break the more delicate creations that pass their way, leading to many tears and the occasional lawsuit. See more of TheBrickRepuplic here.

4x4x5

Lego Land RoverCamo Land Rovers are cool. And that’s all we need to post Mortal Swordsman’s 5-wide version here at TLCB. See more on MOCpages.

Shed Your Inhibitions…

Shed 500w
We found a pair of elves giggling in a corner over a picture of this strange creation, which appears to be a shed mounted on caterpillar tracks. This vehicle has been built by Halfbeak, over on Flickr. Click the link to see Halfbeak’s work and to access photos of the real-life vehicle that this MOC is based on. What would you do in your all-terrain shed? Polite suggestions only please…

Bluesmobile

Lego Bluemobile Dodge MonacoThe 1974 Dodge Monaco from the 1980 film Blues Brothers; “It’s got a cop motor, a 440-cubic-inch plant. It’s got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks”… and it’s on Flickr courtesy of Ralph Savelsberg aka Mad Physicist.

1/3 Million!

Lego MinifiguresIt only seems like a few months ago that we published our self-congratulatory ‘1/4 Million!’ post. And that’s because it was. In fact, the 1/3 million mark quietly slipped past unnoticed earlier in the week. The Elves were on a bit of a roll and we had too many models to blog to check our stats… but we’ve caught up now. So concentrate, here comes the science part:

  • TLCB has recorded 1/3 million views in 20 months. If we maintain our current daily hit rate we’ll reach another 1/3 million views every 12 months.
  • We estimate this to be about 1/8th, or 12%, of the annual views achieved at the The Brothers Brick and, slightly less impressively, about 1% of the views achieved at MOCpages.
  • We’ve approved almost 700 comments (keep ’em coming!), and deleted over 11,000 spam messages.
  • We’ve blogged approximately 500 cars, trucks, bikes, planes, spacecraft to date.

As always, a big Thank You to you – yes you – reading this post. Without you this blog would just be the ramblings of some incompetent writers. Keep your Suggestions and Feedback coming, we really do try to read and respond to all of them, and we’ll see you in a few months at 1/2 million!

Fairground Helicopter

Futuristic Lego HelicopterThis futuristic-looking ‘Ah-51 Goldtooth’ combat helicopter comes from the mind of Jacob Unterreiner on Flickr. Looking like a cross between a food blender and one of those dodgy fairground rides with the spinning thingumies we have doubts as to its airworthiness, but it looks cool, and that’s what counts if you’re a Lego Car Blog Elf. See more at the link above.
