Much like shampoo & conditioner, some things are better when they’re two-in-one. And just like your Mom, Angka Utama’s tidy Dakar rally truck always has something inside it.
Secreted underneath the neat 4-wide truck bodywork is another Dakar racer, and the two vehicles fit together so beautifully you’d never know unless you saw the image below. We have a pair of lucky Elves here at TLCB Towers today, each having found multiple creations in one hit.
Elf no.1 uncovered these excellent little off-road buggies courtesy of Tamotsu Nobusawa on Flickr, of which there’s more to see by clicking here.
Elf no.2 returned home with these lovely Town-style Chinese flatbed trucks from Flickr’s Kosmas Santosa. They’re part of a wider (and brilliant) Chinatown scene, and you can see more of the trucks and their surroundings at Kosmas’ photostream via the link above.
Who’d have thought Classic Space and Technic could go together so well? This marvellous Classic Space themed Technic truck trial off-roader was suggested by a reader and comes from Flickr’s Horcik Designs. There’s XL motors for drive, bouncy suspension and an oversize (but no less cheery) Classic Spaceman at the wheel. Like, totally. Dude. Right, enough non-sensical surf-talk, these neat Town-scale creations come from Flickr’s Johnni, and you can see more of his brilliant board-laden Mark 1 Ford Transit and classic VW Manx beach buggy at his photostream via the link above.
It seems like only last week that we posted a Lego lunar dune buggy. Probably because it was. Anyway, here’s another – this time in Volkswagen flavour – and you can see more courtesy of Jonas on Flickr.
There’s only a week left of this year’s Febrovery (although you can of course build a rover any time you like), and here are two more of our favourites so far. Above, and resuscitating the classic M-Tron theme, is Andrew Lee‘s entry, whilst below Jon Blackford has chosen to go a simian-shaped route. See more of each on Flickr at the links.
With working steering, bouncy independent suspension, a mid-mounted V8 engine, a two-speed transmission and all-wheel-drive, this replica of the 1967 off road racer ‘Baja Boot’ (once owned by Hollywood legend Steve McQueen) looks as fun as the real thing.

It’s a red sort of day here at TLCB with two awesome claret creations to publicise. First up (above) is Redfern‘s ‘V8 Speedster’ which subscribes to the ‘More is More’ school of thought. You can see more of Refern’s levitating hot rod on Flickr.
Today’s second creation was suggested to us by a reader and comes from Bricksafe’s Agrof. It might have non-LEGO tyres (insert frowny face), but its Power Functions drive, monster shocks and lightweight body panels are pure LEGO Technic. This year’s Febrovery kicks off with a vehicle from Shannon Sproule that harks back to the days of Victorian motoring, mixed with NASA and Classic Space aesthetics. What do you mean, “It’s still Ma.Ktober?”. We’ve got a chicken transporter, complete with its own wattle, by Angus McLane to post too. One of these days The Lego Car Blog staff will finally understand sci-fi…

This is, quite simply, the most effective Elf-smushing vehicle that has ever graced the halls of TLCB Towers.
It’s Sariel‘s incredible newest creation, taken from the equally incredible Mad Max – Fury Road movie, and it’s one of our favourite cars of the year so far.
Underneath the ruined muscle car bodywork, and above the brilliant suspended track system, sit a pair of LEGO batteries connected to twin LEGO RC buggy motors, each controlled by the superb SBrick third-party bluetooth system.
And that makes the Peacemaker one of the fastest, most agile and most highly manoeuvrable Lego vehicles that this site has ever published. And none of this was good news for our Elves.

It’s been a while since the last Elf smushing, but today – thanks to Technic legend Sheepo – vehicular violence returned to the halls of TLCB Towers.
Sheepo’s latest build is everything the Elves love in a vehicle, being orange, remote controlled and cartoonishly proportioned. It can also drive down a flight of stairs (literally! – watch the video below), so it had no trouble in running down (and then over) our smelly workforce.
Featuring all-wheel-drive courtesy of four XL motors, servo steering and two third-party SBricks for control Sheepo’s RC buggy is a formidable off-road machine. This buggy has been built by Chris Perron. It seems to have been built for the Lavtron faction of Lego space explorers, whose name instantly had our Elvish workforce giggling and snickering. The Elves have a very low sense of taste and humour. What appealed to us was its curved bodywork, with studs at a 45 degree angle, which also looked robust and strong. At the back are some nicely subtle stripes, a chunky engine and some serious weaponry. Click this link to Flickr to see more.
After removing the controls of yesterday‘s monster truck from the Elves before there could be any smushings one of them got one over us today.
In the hands of the aforementioned employee the Baja trophy truck above managed to squash most of our smelly little workforce long before we noticed anything was amiss and – thanks to the new SBrick – controlling the chaos could be done by the Elf in hiding.
Order has now been restored and the jubilant Elf responsible ejected from TLCB Towers by way of the office catapult, giving us the chance to scrape some damaged Elves out of the carpet and – more importantly – have a go at the driving ourselves.
The beast in question is the work of Egor Karshiev (aka rm8) and it’s E.P.I.C. Underneath the trophy truck bodywork are two LEGO buggy motors powered by two LiPo batteries, plus a servo motor for steering, three sets of LEDs and the SBrick control unit. All of this sits on top of some of the bounciest Technic suspension we’ve ever seen and the result is a Technic model that’s faster than anything made from Lego has a right to be.
