Lego Mack Granite Truck

A peaceful morning in TLCB Towers was shattered today by the sound of something heavy and metallic hitting something soft and fleshy. The two objects in question turned out to be a desk lamp and an Elf, which was itself armed with a stolen hole-punch for defence-by-body-piercing.

With the two combatants separated, one of which was sporting a newly (and no doubt unwanted) pierced ear, we could investigate the cause of the ruckus.

Two Model Team style trucks, both remotely controlled by Power Functions, and both discovered on the image-sharing site Flickr. Luckily for the two aforementioned Elves both creations are worthy of appearing here, and so each of them has earned a meal token, making the lamp vs. hole punch fight somewhat necessary.

Anyway, the models! First up (above) is previous bloggee Ingmar Spijkoven‘s Mack Granite truck, with RC drive and steering, solid axel suspension and a working fifth wheel. Click on Ingmar’s name to see more of his mighty Mack.

The second of today’s trucks (below) comes from another previous bloggee from Flickr, Marek Mankiewicz aka M_longer. Marek has reconstructed a superb replica of MAN’s TGS 8×4 dump truck, and he’s added a drawbar trailer for good measure too. There’s lots more to see at the link above.

Lego Technic Airport Crash Tender

Today we have a very special creation to share with you, one that’s had the whole office pouring over it all afternoon.

This amazing Technic model is the work of previous bloggee Lucio Switch, and it’s a sight common to all major airports, the essential Airport Crash Tender. Lucio’s creation looks – as you can see from these images – remarkably lifelike, but even more impressive is what this model can do.

Hidden inside are fourteen Power Functions motors controlled by five IR receivers and the previously blogged SBrick. These operate everything from the 8-wheel-drive, the 4-wheel-steering, the rotation, lifting and extension of the fire extinguishing arm, the emergency lights, and the direction of second extinguisher nozzle mounted on the front bumper.

Oh, and one more function… working water cannons. Yes, this Lego model really can pump water and extinguish a small fire! LEGO’s own Pneumatic System is used to pump air into the water tanks, forcing out the water for use when things are getting a bit hot. It’s probably the most amazing Lego vehicle you will see this year – you can see all the images on both MOCpages and Flickr – we can’t recommend making those clicks highly enough!

Lego Lancia Delta HF Integrale

Lancia might be almost dead now, reduced to making Chrysler knock-offs (but uglier) for the domestic Italian market, but the company was once one of the most advanced car manufacturers in the world.

The Lancia back-catalogue is amongst the most impressive of any car maker, which makes their current situation even sadder. So rather than dwelling on the present we’re going to take a trip back to one of Lancia’s greatest hits, the incredible Delta HF Intergrale.

Based on the humble Delta hatchback, the HF Intergrale became one of the most formidable rally cars of all time, and because the rules of the time stated that WRC cars must have a road-going equivalent it meant that a lucky few were able to buy their very own version of the championship-winning rally car.

It’s the production-version that Daniel Helms has chosen to build in Lego form, and a brilliant job he’s done too. His recreation of the Italian icon was suggested to us by a reader and you can see the full gallery of his Delta HF Integrale on MOCpages by clicking the link above.

Lego AEC STL London Routemaster Bus

This gorgeous pair of mini-figure scale London buses comes from TLCB debutant Hung Andy. Whilst his Flickr name does seem more appropriate for the seedier corners of the internet, Hung Andy’s builds are some of the most exceptional Town style vehicles we’ve seen in all of our time blogging.

Two eras of London Routemaster bus are represented, the second of which is only just coming to end with the arrival of the new (and beautiful) hybrid double-decker this year.

Lego Mack RL700L Rubber Duck Convoy Truck

This beautiful Model Team recreation of the Mack RL700L ‘Rubber Duck’ from the 1978 movie ‘Convoy’ was discovered on Brickshelf today. There’s only one photo at the moment – and we have a feeling that we’ve seen this builder before somewhere*. zmasterbrick is the mysterious creator and you can see their Mack in full-size by clicking the source link above.

*Answers in the comments if you know! It does make for a clever title though.

Lego Total Recall

We’re feeling lazy today, so it’s time for a Guest Blogger! Firas Abu-Jaber keeps the posts coming…

In 2012 Len Wiseman brought us a remake of the cult 1990 science fiction action movie ‘Total Recall’. His modern reboot included some amazing action scenes and several exotic fictional vehicles. Today in 2015 Flickr’s Tiler has created his own remake in LEGO form by building this highly detailed hover car as used in the movie’s chase sequence.

What could be more amazing than taking a ride in an exotic supercar that doesn’t have any wheels!? All of the speed without having to feel the pain of speed bumps or the street flaws! You can take a ride in Tiler’s brilliant Total Recall hover car by visiting him on Flickr.

Lego Tintin Rocket

Belgium isn’t famed for having contributed much to humanity. Admittedly they did come up with the internal combustion engine – without which this blog wouldn’t have a lot of content – but after Stella Artois and The Smurfs we got stuck. Until we saw this.

It comes from TLCB newcomer gonkius, and he has recreated the impossibly curvy spaceship of Belgium’s favourite comic book character Tintin wonderfully. And hugely!

Lego Concept Car

Spring has sprung here at TLCB Towers. The days are getting longer, skirts are getting shorter, and the Elves are getting, er… frisky. We lose a few Elves every year, mostly to dogs and Elf-on-Elf violence, so this isn’t a bad thing. We’ve got no idea of the biology of it, but their numbers always seem pretty constant.

Anyway, such is the Elves’ mood at the moment that they haven’t really found much worth blogging, so it’s over to you for a find. This neat concept car by previous bloggee Angka Utama was discovered by a reader and you can see more it, including some very clever cockpit construction techniques, on both MOCpages and Flickr.

Lego Mazda RX3

Mazda’s RX-8 and RX-7 are something of a cult motoring institution, and long before either of them Mazda had this; the RX-3 coupe. This lovely Lego recreation of the little RX is the work of TLCB regular Senator Chinchilla and, as is often the way with old Japanese cars, the Senator has added a few mods to his whip. Lego Lancia Stratos HF Zero 1970

The 1970s were a decade entirely made up of straight lines. Preferably three of them joined by three corners. This Lancia Stratos HF Zero concept car follows the rules of ’70s car design to the letter. It’s been built by newcomer Heiko Ruutel of MOCpages and you can see more here.
