Lego Mercedes-Benz SEL AMG

What better way to celebrate tonight’s German triumph in the 2014 Brazil World Cup here at TLCB than with the most German of cars; the Mercedes-Benz AMG*! This particular car is the one that started it all, the awesome 6.8 litre V8 SEL.

TLCB favourite and frequent bloggee Senator Chinchilla is the builder behind this Model Team classic AMG racer, and he’s uploaded a superb gallery showcasing his latest creation to Flickr. Join the German celebration and check it out here!

Lego Thunderbirds FAB1

The phrase made famous by Thunderbirds’ permanently morose chauffeur Parker, whom shuttled Lady Penelope about her business in the brilliant 6-wheeled FAB1 Rolls Royce.

This spectacular Miniland scale version of the legendary car is the work of Stephen Sander, and was suggested to us via the Feedback page by a swift-spotting reader. Stephen has recreated the Roller beautifully, including the retro-tastic interior, and has photographed his model on location at Herrenhausen Royal Gardens to great effect.

Photographing a Rolls Royce in Germany might seem a little out-of-sorts, but they are of course now German-owned and that gives us a seamless link into the Germany vs. Argentina World Cup Final tonight!

Lego Lincoln Continental

TLCB regular Ralph Savelsberg appears here again with this menacing 1965 Lincoln Continental. This car was apparently used in The Matrix, but to be honest we don’t remember any cars in the movie at all. Still, you can see more of this forgotten movie star on Flickr via the link above.

The blood-alcohol level is still pretty high in TLCB office today, so rather than trying to come up with something clever to say about this superb Classic Space trio by Flickr’s Billyburg, we’ll hand this post over to the builder himself;

Tetra-Track Micro: For those times you want to go for a space walk, but don’t want to use your legs – and because Segways are so last year.

Tetra-Track Mini: The ‘go-to’ solution for all those small space bases and outposts, and for those too cheap to buy the bigger model.

Tetra-Track Midi: Made from bits of scaffolding, old tank parts and recycled double glazing. Loved by the crews for its staggering good looks, supreme handling and load carrying capabilities.

Lego Ferrari 330 P4

It’s the weekend, hurrah! This does mean though, that TLCB Team will be drunk*, and we didn’t plan ahead any posts. Oops. Fortunately Sam the First returns as a Guest Blogger and keeps TLCB functioning. Over to Sam…

Previously Featured TFOL Harry Gravett’s mind must be an interesting place. When I think of ‘difficult to build’, I think more along the lines of a Nissan 350Z, or a Porsche. Harry though, thinks of a TVR Sagris or a Ferrari 360 CS with brick built stripes.

His most recent model is stunning, being this gorgeous Ferrari 330 P4. This one is not only a tough cookie to recreate, Harry’s done it with brick-built windows and windscreen, and he’s nailed the shaping. The functions are all there and working ever so fine with some top class techniques used, and he’s captured the character of a 60’s prancing horse beautifully.

Lego Corvette

Here at The Lego Car Blog we are not fans of 1970s Americana. We grew up on a diet of small, nimble, efficient cars that could go around corners and that didn’t break down unless they were French. 1970s American barges therefore are definitely not our bag, being precisely the opposite of all of the above.

However, even in America’s automotive wilderness years there were a handful of oases. This is one such vehicle, the utterly gorgeous Chevrolet Corvette C3.

This beautiful Lego Technic example of Chevrolet’s icon is the work of Eurobricks resident (and Technic genius) Madoca. Underneath the wonderfully curvaceous bodywork sits a fully functioning remote control chassis, complete with independent suspension all round, working lights (including pop-up function), opening doors, trunk and hood plus a removable targa roof panel, and of course RC drive and steering.

Ricecracker is the builder, and he’s found a rather genius way of shaping the bonnet whilst still using genuine Lego parts. Lego Phantasm Supercar

Master MOCer Paul Boratko (aka Crowkillers) is back! The latest in his long line of exceptional supercars is ‘Phantasm’, a mid-engined, two seat sports car featuring a huge range of Technic functions. Under the rear deck sits a V8 engine driving the rear wheels through a working gearbox, with steering, independent suspension and butterfly doors all appearing too.

Lego Mazda MX-5 Miata

Mazda’s MX-5 / Miata is one of TLCB office’s very favourite cars. Small, light, cheap and enormous fun, it’s just like the Elves. Apart from you’d need to replace ‘and enormous fun’ with ‘little shits’.

Sorry if we’re grumpy today, the Elves started one hell of a fight last night after we let them watch some of the World Cup. With no known nationality the Elves tend to support whichever team is more violent, and thus when a Columbian kneed a Brazilian in the spine one of them immediately replicated the move on a colleague, sparking a mass Elf-fight. Sigh.

With order restored and the main protagonists removed from the office by way of TLCB catapult, we can get back to blogging cars. This one is small, light, cheap and enormous fun, and it comes from previous bloggee Rhys’ Pieces. His brilliant Mazda MX-5 Miata features a host of tasteful* modifications that are seen regularly on the thousands of Miatas that race every weekend. After several non-car posts one of our Elves finally returned to the office with a vehicle worthy of our blog name. This ace hot rod pick-up is the work of Flickr’s SM 01 who has continued working on his previously featured model.
