Previous bloggee Jonathan Elliott is back, this time with something very big and very grey. This whale-like vehicle is a 1965 Cadillac DeVille Coupe, and it’s very probably the least coupe-ish coupe ever made. Well, apart from this obviously. This exceptionally neat Technic flatbed truck by Flickr’s Damian Plesniak was discovered by one of our Elves today, and underneath all that neatness is a full remote control Power Functions drivetrain. Luckily Damian’s creation is too slow and cumbersome for the Elves to use it run each other over, so instead (and in rare moment of Elven peace) a hoard of them are riding around the office in the back. It’ll probably end in tears at some point but for now we’ll enjoy the quiet and you can check out all the images of the build via the link to Damian’s Flickr album above.
Is there anything prettier than a girl on a Vespa?* Nope. Not unless you’re the new White House Press Secretary (whereby the prettiest thing ever witnessed is President Donald Trump, period). Previous bloggee ZetoVince may not have built a girl to accompany his Vespa, but his Lego recreation of the iconic Italian scooter is absolutely gorgeous. Today is the inauguration of the 45th President of the United States of America, and here at The Lego Car Blog we’re commemorating this milestone event with something old, dangerous, and orange.
Built to scare the Soviets in the late 1950s this is a MM1 Teracruzer eight-wheel-drive missile carrier, complete with a Martin Mace nuclear missile, and despite its murderous (and completely futile) purpose, it’s a magnificent looking thing. It’s as if Thunderbirds were run by a maniacal doom-monger.

And now here they are! The most daredevil group of daffy drivers to ever whirl their wheels in the Wacky Races. Competing for the title of World’s Wackiest Racer!… Sneaking along last is that Mean Machine with those double dealing do-badders Dick Dastardly and his sidekick, Muttley. And even now they’re up to some dirty trick!

Just like your Mom, the Mercedes-Benz Unimog U90 is a bit… er, aesthetically challenged, but it likes to get dirty. With portal axles, four-wheel-drive and huge travel suspension the 1992 U90 series Unimog was about as capable an off-road vehicle as you could conceive, and it could be fitted with an enormous array of attachments and tools to suit almost any job. The strange off-centre hood was in fact designed to allow the driver to better see any tools attached to the front from the driver’s seat.
This neat Technic recreation of the asymmetrical ‘mog comes from previous bloggee Thirdwigg, and it’s just as odd on the outside and clever underneath as the real U90. Remote control drive and steering, four-wheel-drive via portal axles, live axle suspension, a 4-cylinder piston engine and a three-way tipper bed all feature, and you can see all of that lot plus a video of the model in action via Flickr, Brickshelf and Eurobricks.
Kaizen. The philosophy of continual small improvements first pioneered in Japan by Toyota, is now a worldwide business practice. And thanks to the inherent characteristics of the LEGO brick, it’s a process that builders can apply too.
First featured on this site way back in 2013, Dennis Bosman (aka LegoTrucks) has recently updated his stunning Kenowrth K100 wrecker with a myriad of small improvements.
From grey to chrome, standard to dark green, and studs to smooth, LEGO’s continual product development has allowed Dennis to take advantage of an expanding variety of bricks to refresh his beautiful Model Team Kenworth wrecker.

With mini-figure Batman getting his very own movie, a very cool new Batmobile was required. 60.2 litres of 20,000bhp V100 (plus flaming rocket booster) ought to do it, and Chevrolet decided that this ridiculous contraption needed to be built for real. Well, sort of. Sadly a 60.2 litre V100 engine is yet to exist, so Chevy decided to do the next best thing and build a life-size version of the Lego Batmobile… in Lego.
344,000 bricks and 2,000 hours later, and this is the result. Measuring over nine feet wide and at seventeen feet long Batman’s new ride features X-Ray vision (for seeing criminals up to no good, honest), a Scarecrow gas detector, whatever that is, and – thankfully for the other motorists of Gotham – a parallel park mode which swivels all four wheel by 90 degrees to allow bump-free parking. Oh, and 4G Wi-Fi.

Maxime Cheng‘s beautiful classic BMW R60 motorcycle has appeared here before (twice in fact), and it’s now been joined by an equally stunning sidecar. Easily one of the finest Lego motorbikes we’ve ever found it’s a build that’s definitely worth a closer look.
Maxime is hoping the design will become an official LEGO set via the LEGO Ideas platform, and with BMW now an official partner of LEGO with the launch of the new Technic 42063 BMW R 1200 Adventure set we think this is highly possible. ZetoVince‘s little Lamborgini may only be seven studs wide, but it’s unmistakably a Countach. It helps that Lamborghini’s insane ’70s supercar has such a distinctive shape, but it takes quite a bit of skill to recreate it in small-scale Lego building. Zeto definitely has that skill, and you can see more his miniature masterpiece on Flickr via the link above.
Flickr’s Manuel Nascimento has appeared here at The Lego Car Blog before with his utterly spellbinding Lego Technic Porsche 919 Le Mans LMP1 racer. This is his latest iteration of the race winning hybrid endurance car, now updated to 2016 specification.
Pictured here alongside the 2015 edition, Manuel’s update retains the full Power Functions remote control drive and steering, LED lights and working functions of the earlier model, but updates the bodywork and livery to match the 2016 race-winner.

The finest brick-built livery ever? If not it’s a sure top three. This brilliant Iveco Scuderia Ferrari transporter from the 2008 F1 season is the work of Ryan Link of Flickr, and it has some of the most intricate brick-work we’ve ever seen. The whole truck opens up too, with a double-deck car ramp, sliding tool storage and a flip-up awning. See more via the link above.
It’s time for something special. Really special. Poland’s Paul Kmiec, better known as Sariel, has been wowing the online Lego community for years. He’s a published Lego author and a veteran of this site, with a huge range of diverse Technic machinery published here over the years. His latest creation, in construction for months, reached TLCB yesterday, and we may only be a few weeks in but 2017 will have to be a pretty incredible year to beat it. This is Sariel’s fully remote controlled Technic Pagani Huayra…
Built in 1:8 scale Sariel’s Huayra is a perfect Technic replica of the ultra-rare Italian hypercar. The bodywork, constructed from LEGO’s Technic panels, flex tubing and lift-arms, is a work of art, but it’s what’s underneath it that is truly remarkable.
A remote control drive train, controlled by a third-party SBrick bluetooth module, powers the Huayra, with a remotely operable two-speed gearbox and fully independent adjustable suspension included too. There are opening doors, and functioning turn signals, reversing and brake lights – all engaged automatically when the Huayra turns, reverses or decelerates.
Yes, decelerates – because Sariel’s Pagani features remotely operated working pneumatic brakes and the Huayra’s trick active aerodynamics, including the front and rear spoilers deployed on each side when cornering and the rear-mounted airbrake used during heavy deceleration.
